Its probably not a bad idea to keep potential flu (swine or otherwise) sufferers away from other possibly frail patients. There must be some way they can get access to treatment though. It seems that there is a breakdown in the arrangements set up by the health authorities.

In a democracy if the authorities use torture they will lose the trust of the citizenry. Its a corrosive process, after all, if the authorities are happy to stretch the rules of decency for their foreign enemies, how long before they misbehave when dealing with their home grown ones?

My understanding is that Fiat are looking for Opel/Vauxhall. Looks like Saab might get dropped and have to go it alone.

If this all goes ahead it looks like Fiat will be the worlds second largest auto maker. Unfortunately Fiat are already losing money, even though they may get the…

"So why would Fiat, or any other entity buy into such a doomed scenerio ? "

Not for Chryslers glorious future thats for sure. If Chrysler were in such good shape they would be looking to make their own low cost aquisitions. The fact is Cerberus has no choice but…

", if things are so bad at Chrysler... why would Fiat want to jump on their band wagon ?"

Covering losses due to business suspension is just throwing good money after bad. If the taxpayer is to subsidise jobs there should be an insistance that the staff, whos jobs have essentially disappeared, are retrained for new business when it finally arrives.

The headline is inflammatory. I see no indication that Britain is "at odds" with Japan at all. The governments are simply issuing different advice.
