    @ JoeBigs

    I think most people (ordinary Japanese included) will find Yushukan (the museum at Yasukuni)'s version of history a little questionable.

    Yasukuni is not as bad as some people make it out to be, but neither is it as good as some other people make it out to be.…

    @northlondon

    Whether it be actual bones, spirits, ashes, ghostbusters or anything else, the politicians should not be praying for the war criminals at Yasukuni, only for those civilians who lost their lives during the war.

    The polititians are not praying for either - it's the fallen soldiers who are enshrined…

    A very narrow-minded suggestion from a man who obviously hasn't thought about the potential implications on a wider scale i.e. a nuclear arms race in East Asia and a massive setback to global nuclear non-profiliation, as well as a huge blow to Japan's credibility as a nation with pacifist ideals…

    As for the matter of whether Japan overreacted or not, well that's just a matter of opinion. I can see how a country would react in such a way when an…

    Although I do sometimes wonder whether it would be wise to launch an air strike on their nuke reactor. Would NK unleash a suicidal Korean War II for the sake of one reactor? (PS Am not one of the conservatives either by the way, so I guess we're still awaiting…

    A question for the conservatives on this board - why doesn't the U.S. just quit playing games and invade North Korea?

    Because NK has a massive army which could give America a bloody nose and South Korea a lot, lot worse. NK is no Iraq.

    Some Japanese members of the PTA even said at the time that nobody of Korean descent should head the association because it was unprecedented in the school’s 60-year history.

    From reading various other articles on the matter it appears that this was actually raised as a matter of nationality,…

    The problem is that North Korea doesn't give a hoot about what resolution the UN passes as a response for it's ignoring the resolution they passed in 2006.

    Or rather, they will care - in the sense that they will simply see it as no other than a grave…

    yup, another sick "Only in Japan" moment. At least in other countries, you know to stay away from certain places at certain times. Japanese loonies like this are a dime a dozen and come without warning.
