My guess is that they made this decision a long time ago but decided to battle it until the very end. I know this is pure speculation, but I would have done the same (i.e. battle it out til the end) if you've got nothing to lose! Good decision.

noypikantoku, it's called discretion. Even though they were all in Japan illegally, obviously each case is different, so they weigh up the aggravating factors against the mitigating factors and make a decision based on that. If you really want to know why, then perhaps it is on this site which…

It's called discretion, noypikantoku. Was your friend who got deported brought here when he was 10 with no choice on the matter, or did he come here as an adult who deliberately broke the law?

If this is double standards, then surely it would be double standards to let the filipino family stay while other illegal immigrants are deported.

Either you stick firmly and rigidly to the letter of the law and deport all illegals under any circumstance, or you make leeways for certain decisions…

like what people are saying here they should be punish for breaking the law. All I am saying is give them consideration since it's they're mistake to accept illegal immigrants in school.

So, if I went out and killed someone with a legally acquired gun, should the authorities…

If your friend's daughter HAD been accepted into this Australian school, then does that make the Australian school somehow responsible for the fact that your friends would have continued to break immigration law?

Teachers have no more responsible for the implementation of immigration law than firemen are responsible for the…

noypikantoku, so perhaps the ideal solution for you would be for the government to do the "responsible" thing and send the police into every school across the country tomorrow to look for illegal immigrants, and immediately deport any, to prevent cases like this from ever happening again? And of course,…

Ah So: Guinness served in Britain is identical to tahts erved in Ireland. Why make assunptions about British Guinness.

Even if the same recipe is used, if a beer is brewed in different locations then they would result in having slightly different flavours.

    Disillusioned - thanks, interesting!

For many of those of us who are not Irish, St Paddy's day is pretty much nothing more than an excuse to drink Guinness, and why not? Much like how Christmas is treated in Japan, we all know it's a marketing ploy but it's a marketing…
