Naughty naughty, bushlover. You'll have the illiterate up and whinging cos they can't read what you're saying.

Pic is smaller too, and those who want a close up can have it, and how. Looking forward to the next photoshopped Ebichan.

Recent comments is back! and mine is the most recent. Or was.

Also thanks for losing the wind info and moving the visibility somewhere where it's less obtrusive. And the columns have lined up a bit, so I'll lay off the whiskey a bit.

I'll tell you what's exhausting - having to click on the above tab just to see the quote of the day.

"We are sure that before too long, with a positive attitude, you will easily be able to find your way around the site." Attitude will not reduce the number of clicks actually, but nice try.

Positive attitude? I'll have none of that, thanks very much.

I'd like to see the picture reduced in size and/or the useless windspeed/visibility info gone or at least moved into the righthand side (and empty) red bar of death running across the top. I just spoke with a captain of one of the Aegis vessels, and he said he gets his wind and visibility information from somewhere else.

And then the two columns of articles could run side-by-side. I'm having some emotional problems with the criss-cross layout we see now on the main page. It makes me want to jump, jump.

I don't think you need today's case of in-family stabbing twice on the main page. Text is already at a minimum on each page as it is. We need to be more efficient JT. I know you like to keep things simple what with the wabisabi and all that, but I'm not Japanese and I prefer substance over form.

Why don't you paste the quote of the day over the HIS advertisement? At least I'd look in that direction then. Maybe I'd click on it too, and then be taken away somewhere and you could earn one cent.

My criticism of the new design is nearly over for today. I find the section tabs at the top in the bright burn your eyes red to be useful, but yeah my index finger is a lot stronger now from all the extra clicking involved. It says that visibility outside is very good, but in fact it's dark and I can't see anything. But the 8mph tailwind helped me as I sprinted to the station cos my time management is poor after spending too much time here.

That's the spirit! But let's tread carefully - we don't want to intrude on the Japanese idea of co-operation too much. Without it they have nothing, other than the rest of their imported ideas.

Why are these girls in disguise? Are they hiding from Anpanman, the weakest hero in history?

Congrats JT I think you'll have a lot more clicking around now. If I develop a RSI in my left index finger I will be seeking compensation.

southofreality, I just wanted to be a big man by throwing in some Japanese. No, not really, I mean it is news about Japan, right? If I wrote some Korean or something it would be more inappropriate. I applaud you for your efforts.

The reason I wrote "誰でも良かった is looking like the new phrase in 2008" is cos this young lad uttered the very same words that that guy did just a few days ago after knifing 8 people in Ibaraki. There's nothing like copying someone else. Wouldn't be surprised if we hear it again in the next few days.

Of the three quotes that have started here, one has garnered the massive total of 2 replies to date, another a walloping 4 replies, and the third and initial one was actually out on the main page that day and not hiding behind the pic of the day, and boasts 20 something replies. I rest my case. You rest your case? I mean...case closed.

I wonder if quote of the day will see less action cos it's hiding behind the oversized pic of the day. Just move the quote to the top of the page, over whatever advertisement it is I pay no mind to.

I think the impact of comments has been diluted a bit. Back with the old design, my rubbish comments stood proudly in the center of the page. Now they're off to the side and softer...it's not the same (whimpers off and kicks a stone on the ground).

誰でも良かった is looking like the new phrase in 2008. Pity it can't be squeezed into one character to make kanji of the year.

WJT - I think the missing function is one of the reasons why posts are way down. Another being the shocking new format will take time to accept. And a third reason being many of the stories didn't have their post history brought over. And finally the shocking new format.

Why bring back the latest posts function, when instead you can have people clicking around a whole lot more to see new posts (i.e. increased page hits)?! I know what you're up to JT.

"Are the planets in alignment or something because all of the crazies are coming out of the woodwork."

It's been this way for a while now, but has gone up another notch since Pluto was given the boot.

Wind speed has gone up to 10 miles per hour, whatever that is in the metric version (and incidentally the system that Japan uses). If you keep this most important of information in the imperial system, then there is a risk I might pilot my dinghy boat incompetently into a large imperial vessel travelling in a straight line, and there'll be a whole lot of bowing and obligatory apologies. I'm sorry.
