ilcub, do you seriously and really believe that 500 in vouchers is worth 500 in cash?

60 is not old, I know many still alive and kicking a*s at that age... If different, they seem more genki than nowadays "under-30" keitai addicted drones...

A 5 year old can not normally use the seatbelt without proper support (height raising special pillow or seat). Also, even if properly fastened by the mother, they can easily unfasten the belts (while playing) and get into trouble.

In my opinion, the best way to teach children the importance of belts is to scare them by braking the car to the limit (activate the ABS). Nothing will happen but they will slam in the from seats (harmless but very scary for a child). It's surely an experience to be remembered, and they will hopefully think twice before trying to unfasten the belts next time...

RIP little girls and condolences to the family..

bengoshi-san, well, you're quite wrong there - now that the yen is extremely strong, and considering Japan has huge debt itself, it is the time to use some of the reserves outside (money sitting are not worth the paper they are printed onto, they should be rolling)... If even one country in Europe is in big(ger) trouble, the whole EU economy (and the world's) could come crashing down, and Lehman shock would be nothing compared...

I'm not a Micro$oft fan, but it's probably a good decision not entering this messy market soon anyway. They do very good without this (just look at the kinect sales).

For having a more realistic view and understanding Micro$oft's true position on the market, I recommend googling "Microsoft by the numbers".. it's a very good read...

Well, Steve "It's a miracle" Jobs does not need an alarm clock in the first day of the year, so why would any other user need one?

absolutely zero. My Japanese wife though will not even take a cab, or accept a ride in a friend's car without a baby seat...Working in automotive, I know that even at 30km/h an accident can easily get fatal for a baby held in arms...

Japan is a third world country from this point of view, with no driving safety culture and uneducated people.

What irks me most and the egoistic parents (mostly housewifes), driving with seatbelts on and babies playing between the seats... the idiots survive small crashes while their children are killed (or mutilated)...

rainman, it creates no disconfort if I place a second bag under the seat in front of me, except for myself...Sometimes I need to have a piece of hand luggage, and no, I can't check-in the at least 40.000 EUR worth of equipment I sometimes might have with me either, so that also has to come into the cabin...

Never had any problems, using Lufthansa most of the time. They never weight my hand luggage (and I'm sure I am always over their 8 kg limit, perhaps close to the 15-17 kg zone, but I'm always sure to have maximum two pieces of hand luggage). In the worst case I can place my computer bag under the seat in front and rest my legs on it(thank you Panasonic Toughbook :)) )

smartacus - seeing something you liked being replaced strongly means that you were in minority... I like the way European companies stick to the brand and the product as opposed to CocaCola's actions...

You know the taste of stalled beer (one that's left too much to lose all it's gas)? Well, that's the taste the last episodes of FlashForward left in my mouth.

    RIP poor girl...

I'm waiting for the report of this happening at my Japanese university as well. I never drank as much alcohol as during taking the uni courses in Japan.

Many of my classmates were under aged and actually having their first drink there and then. I can say I'm lucky laws weren't that strict in my country when I was 16 :) - as this allows one's body to get used to the poison and limits the shock(a bit).
