Peter - while generally everybody agrees, it's very much "Shouganai"... There's nothing to do about... Of course the government is supporting country-side development, small industry, etc, but, especially during semi-hard times we experience now, more and more people will try their luck in the biggest of all places... There is still enough space either in West Tokyo (1 hour to Tokyo station) or in East - Chiba - 45-60 minutes)... The problem is that soon the total length of the trains will be bigger than the length of the tracks they are running on.. Still, I think Saitama, NW of Chiba and West Tokyo still has a lot of potential for further development.

until one (or one's family) is directly involved in such tragedies... Then the death penalty become attractive.
I am actually not supporting the death penalty, but I'm not against it as well. I just hope I will never have to go through what families of murder or rape victims go through... I can't even imagine what the victims of this rapist feel about him right now...

Actually the chemicals used are so strong that the actual removal of testes might be the preferred variant (together with medication).. True, it will not cure the psychopaths with no hormonal imbalance..

He is lucky to be in Japan.. In China he would have gotten the bullet, and his family would have had to pay the price of it...
I totally approve castration (chemical or mechanical) for such monsters. We (as a society) should remove their ability of doing such things.

Japanese are working very hard towards making androids - independent thinking robots that mimic human beings. The type of robots that are the main characters of the "I-Robot" novel.
This Europeans robot is more of a ultra-specialised tools, with very limited (or no) independent movement. It replicates the movements of a doctor. There are many similar medical projects in Japan as well.

ironchef, natalia - nope, actually it is not as the Japanese language. In Japanese you would say:
"ヌードルわおいしいですね"
"Noodles tasty are"
Yoda would say:
"Tasty these noodles are"
Yoda used a object-subject-verb order, while in Japanese the order is subject-object-verb...
Actually Yoda's way of talking is called "Yodaism" and is quite unique among world's languages...
