Serrano - yeah, 5 blades is a direct attack on Gillette's Fusion 5 vibrating manual shavers. Now Panasonic has electric shavers.they are so wide one can land a plane on them.

zurcronium, if you ever get the cancer,I suppose you will not take any modern medicine, as most of it was developed with the help of "useless" supercomputers.

What a nutcase... While it's obvious his head "hurts", it's clear that Fukushima Daiichi has nothing to do with it...He belongs in an institution.

Willi - here is an in-depth article on what would the referendum have meant:

WilliB - do you know what that referendum would have meant? It means asking people if they want to stay with the Euro or return to the Drahma (Greeks' old currency). It would also mean almost instant bankruptcy, with no way for the other European countries to help.

Democracy - yes, and Greeks have the longest lasting one (over 2000 years afaik, compared with the USA's less than 100 year old one) but not stupid steps. EU is not obliged (and honestly can't) help Greek in those conditions.

It's not really news - bribing can happen anywhere (we all know Japan is not that far anyway). India is one of the leaders, think Turkey and East Europe countries, and of course Africa...

david - nobody is really excited about China's progress in space. From past experience, this can't lead to something good for the rest of the world. More likely the chinese will be the first to fully arm their space ships and make sue they can drop nasty things on countries that disagree with them.

and these are the small ones. The bigger are held on the hips, and shoot out flames 10-15m high. Extremely dangerous when dropped, as it can give a new haircut in 1 second...

My University in Tokyo is famous for it's festival, drinking being allowed on the premises. I never saw any violence around (except some over intoxicated, under aged, 18-year old girls violently falling to the ground after too many shots). Usually it's just young people having fun...

    tmarie:

Gyoza. her mom didn't just "take her" to school. Mom stayed at the school with her. The kid is weak and spoiled. A few boys run around her and she has a breakdown and refuses to attend classes. Pathetic. Takes after her mom it seems.

My mother obviously did a damn good job

Obviously not. You sound unsympathetic, cold and merciless towards a 9 year old girl with a cold bad enough to call for her hospitalization.

Haha - lol, I come from a cold country, and experienced -35 or less degrees Celsius more than once. Seeing all the southerners (not only Japanese, Greeks, and Italians are just as bad), wearing their wintercoats when outside is still 20something makes me laugh. Women and men alike...

Toughen up, let your body get used to the cold, and you will survive even lower temperatures. Walk a lot, drink hot soups, ginger ale... Avoid too warm clothes (especially now). Better feel the cold now, as this will make a body a bit immune to it.The (My) body has a "fattening" reaction to cold, and I always somehow gather a thin layer of fat under the skin as soon as the winter approaches :). It disappears in the next spring.

I am also happily married, and together with my Japanese wife for 9 years now (married for 7). I hope we are not the exception, but we were both lucky to find each other.

Most proper MA actually try to avoid conflicts ditto for vets, etc. The strong don't need to fight as they know they will win, both physical and mental.

Most proper martial art first teaches you how to protect yourself in case of danger. Second it teaches you how to inflict the least amount of injury to an adversary, but still be effective (hence the broken nose avoiding a broken arm or neck)... It served me well...

squid - except mercury is released in way more dangerous levels (talking tons versus kilograms). Mercury will likely not leave the food chain (accumulating), but caesium's radioactivity will be halved in 30 years.

What I did (when I was 14, thin as a stick and bullied by a group of 3 fat a s s es):

1 - learn some form of martial art, pay special attention on how to inflict pain onto those who deserve it

2 - use it every time it is necessary

It worked so well in my case. They never tried afterwards...one of the guys still lives with a misshaped nose. I now earn about double as much as all three of them put together

In other order of words, we are talking about peta Becquerels here, while even a small nuclear test produces yotta Becquerels. There were many underwater nuclear tests that affected surrounding seas way more than Fukushima.
