Depending on the airline (and on the size of your one year old), you might still have the chance to get a bassinet for him. This Year in April, our youngest was 13 month, was able to stand a little and with 10kg it was a just fit to the bassinet.

Kirakira: You travel alone with 3 kids? That's tough.

Or you travel with your husband and 3 kids. Still exhausting.

We also have 3 kids: 5 years, 3 years, and 15 months. Our 5 year old usually does not make any trouble at all - he understands that flying is something special and it is fun for him. Our 3 year old girl needs some supervision, especially at meal-time. And, yes, our 15 month old might give some trouble by crying, not wanting to stay on the seat, pushing the tray with the food and drinks, climbing on the seat to pull other passengers hair and so on. So - picking the airline is important.

Last week on the return flight to Japan (with ANA, codeshare LH), the Lufthansa checkin had problems to handle a re-booking on an earlier connection flight (suggested by them) to Munich, so finally they gave me a business class seat for the long haul flight from Munich to Narita. Well, this was without children.

"the machine uses double the amount of microwaves"

Who wrote this stuff without checking the proper expressions? Probably it should say "twice the power compared to standard microwaves", double the amount of money you have to pay for the mostly useless bells and whistles.

Ok - Ok. Let's give the drivers some fresh cold beer - and then call the police to nab them for drunk driving.

Kugi for the tires (an old rusty one in a small old piece of wood from a box, kicked in front of the wheel, when the truck is stopping) then the driver gets kubi from his boss. Problem reduced.

My girl is 2 years and 9 months, and yes, she can move boxes and steps and stairs and put them on top of each other. She likes to watch Dora the explorer and tries to make her own adventures. And by the way, she can open balcony locks and close them again. My wife had this experience. Fortunately, we have a house with first and second floor, and the lock she opened and closed leads to outside. So my wife had to call me to come back home to open the house door with the key. In the time between our daughter opened the lock of the sliding door and my wife was able to enter. As Kirakira said, it is necessary to train the children so that their adventures don't lead to harm. Our 5 year old boy understands this, and he helps in teaching and taking care of the 2 younger children. This does not only apply to locks, but also to seat-belts, wearing helmets for bicycle, keeping small things from Baby and preventing Baby from reaching out for things, it should not have.

    TSRnow:

Yes, I have some stories. My oldest child (5 years) now really likes to fly with airplanes, and he tries to understand as much as possible, what is going on around him. Scandinavian has a moving map feature, and also a front view camera. This is fascinating for him. The moving map, he can compare with the world weather map of Nintendo Wii. Still, when as guest in a German Kindergarten, he could not find Japan on the Map until Papa helped him. Also experience with child-meal. I am wondering, why the second meal on board of Scandinavian for adults contains choko-bars, but the child-meals not. And since 2005 we flew in average 2 times a Year to Germany. Up to until 2008 when we ordered Baby food in advance and it was confirmed, still there was no Baby food on board the long haul flight from Narita to Copenhagen or in the other direction. Several times, we received a really strange answer from the flight attendants: "Baby food is only available for business class".

I couldn't believe it, but it was confirmed. Since 2009 things have improved. When ordering Baby food then, really Baby food in glasses was available. However, be warned. If you have a small Baby (less than 1 year, less than 10 kg), it is possible to get a bassinet seat for the baby, so that it can sleep. This is good. The bassinet seat also comes with some diapers. They are not good. We tried two times and were disappointed. Even when the diapers are not yet full, they start to leak. Not so much fun in the airplane. Better to use standard quality like Pampers or Moonies or so.

    marushka:

Thank you for your comment. In my case, Duesseldorf is the destination and not the via. Duesseldorf (a local airport) is not so bad.

Funny thing is, it has two train stations. One is for normal trains, and the other is for S-Bahn (almost like Street-car). Then one almost has to gamble, which station is better at a given time for example to transfer to Duesseldorf Main Railway Station (HBF).

In the Duesseldorf waiting areas for flights within Europe (not within Germany), one can still get coffee, tea and newspapers for free.

    Of course, in cabin.
