I'm allways amused and wonder how many years you have to be in school before you…

please also remember how many major nuclear accidents there have been in Japan since nuclear technology…

Ok folks, perhaps I should have defined 'accidents' better. ;-) Meltdowns or partial meltdowns and accidents…

5 and 3 home alone? Now, they are both dead! How many times do we have…
Maybe Billy Jack can go to Nagatacho and clean up the nuclear industry like he did…

Maybe better to go green. Guiding some termites or other wood loving insects to worship the place would do the trick.

Sometimes the app Kotoba! crashes (more often on Ipod than Ipad2), but it is a nice tool for translation from Japanese to English to improve understanding. Sometimes even better than dictionaries build and sold just for this single purpose.

Darren: The incident you were talking about happened in Tokaimura in 1999. But in a different place in the company JCO. In the meantime this company was ordered to stop business.
The fire reported here happened at the research center JAEA, which is approximately 4 or 5 km away from the place the company JCO was located.
If wondering about radiation, please take at look at the radiation monitoring information, which is available open to thew public:

SquidBert:
I have seen the original report on the accident (see links below), and I can confirm the information you gave. Yes, the origin of the accident is welding work. Might be that some regulation was violated there, because usually for welding work for roofs there should be a second person with a fire extinguisher nearby. Also I was wondering how glass-wool can burn, but having seen the picture, the glass wool has partially turned brown. Maybe the glass wool was coated or impregnated with some plastic or glue, so that it better sticks to the roof surface, where it was used for acoustic isolation.
The original report is found at: http://www.jaea.go.jp/02/press2011/p11122001/index.html
and the details and the pictures of the place where the fire was detected are at

kaminarioyaji:
Having installed a carnavigation by myself in my car and in my wife's K-Car, I understand what you mean. In my car, I connected the navi to the handbrake signal. In my wife's K-Car the handbrake signal was not easily available - because her Moco has a 2nd footbrake. However now it does not matter so much, as the TV system has changed recently to digital and the navi systems I have still were designed for analog TV.

Kaminari:
Actually, a carnavi has to be connected to the handbrake signal. This mean you can operate all functions, when the handbrake is active - e.g. the car is expected to be stopped.
Also there is a tacho-signal (e.g. the speed-pulse) and usually when motion is detected there, some functions of the navigation system are automatically disabled.

There is something missing from the original publication. There the topic was about foreign workers, especially from China, who come to Japan under the pre-text of receiving practical education in Japanese factories.
Posted in: Some of them want to come back, but they apparently can't because their parents are strongly against it. We've cut production because our Japanese staff can't work full-time since they have to clean up their homes and for other reasons.

This "and for other reasons" is actually no useful explanation of a reason at all.

Increase now from 5 to 6 percent. Then discuss about more increases one year later, once the effects are know. Maybe couple this with the next election.
