Contamination is almost like entropy: Basically one can only spread and increase it.
Only under controlled conditions can one try to remove contaminated parts from one place. However this means that the tools and containers, which are used, will be contaminated too.
Then one can clean the tools and containers with tissues, and then these become contaminated. These can be thrown into buckets and collected. When they are burned, as is standard in Japan, again the contamination is spread.

Thank you for the background information.
This week in the Yomiuri newspaper was some kind of review report about the Tokai 2 nuclear plant short after the earthquake and the tsunami. Seems the power plant survived and was brought to a cold shutdown, because the owner of the plant, different than TEPCO was listening to advice from experts and had increased the height of the flood protection barrier in time. Still the water came up to 30 cm below the upper edge, so the margin for safety was quite small.
The research you are talking about is going on at J-PARC. Half belonging to JAEA and half to the laboratory KEK from Tsukuba. There is an external Tsukuba campus at J-PARC. Part of the research is with Neutrons for material and life sciences (this is related to JAEA), and another part is Neutrinos send to Kamiokande. Also there is Hadron research. However, J-PARC suffered quite some damage due to the earthquake so the repair took time and is still ongoing. If I understand the information correctly, J-PARC will try to restart operation in middle of December.

I also read this information about the extended evacuation zone (in the Yomiuri). The most important thing it tells me, is not to build or buy a house in this zone.

Actually it is true that eyes are sensitive to heat, because there is not much blood flow, which could lead to cooling. In this way, looking into a 500 W open Microwave will not be good for the health of a person, therefore there is a security switch.
On the other hand, the output power of a mobile pone is limited to a maximum of 2 W. The average power is much lower, so that it is less demanding from the battery and hence the phone can be used for a longer time before recharging. A mobile phone battery might have in the order of 3 to 4 V and a current capacity in the order of 1000 mAh (milli-Ampere-hours), in other words between 3 to 4 Wh (Watt hours). So if a phone allows a talk time of 8 hours, the average power is less than 0.5 Watt. Compare this to the 100 W of heat, a normal human body is generating even at rest to reach a body temperature between 36 and 37 deg. Probably your face will heat up much more from the content of the discussion on the phone than from the radiated power.
These are some simple numbers, which are easy to confirm, which will give you some idea.
Things are different when talking about mobile phone base stations. These have a power output in the order of several 10 Watt and therefore they are put in places (on rooftops), where it is possible to guarantee some distance (remember the one over square law by John Becker).
A little bit more dangerous is military radar, where the pulse output can be up to 1 MegaWatt. You definitely don't want to watch into such parabola antenna, when it is operating.

Isn't it strange that the same organization, e.g. the National Police Agency and the Policemen are making the rules and also enforcing them?
Where are the elected law-makers involved?
Something is missing here in the democratic structure.

No Japan Gal, beepers are basically receivers (like a radio), not transmitters. Admitted there are beeper types to be used inside factories or laboratories, which have an answering channel, but this is on a much lower power compared to cell phones.

I expect the substances in the bottles are somehow related to using radioactive substances in a hospital, because they would need a bigger amount than university labs.

It is somehow paradox that the author can combine "peace", "activists", and "fighting" in one sentence.
Real peace activists should not be actually fighting. But, hey!

Nice idea - but - as most readers with small children know, learning from experience also means making mistakes and inflicting damage to the environment.
My experience is, small children (up to 4 years old) really do increase the entropy (e.g. leaving a mess). I assume this machine during its learning curve might also generate a lot of mess when allowed to run without human supervisor in control.

From the text we can clearly conclude that the authors have a strong agenda. Still, as they boasts their experience they should know about the principle of mutual deterrence, which so far has worked quite well to prevent the next world war.

The problem with the Wankel engines in the past were high fuel consumption and short life time of the sealing parts of the rotating rotor in the engine.
Actually, it was not only NSU / Audi / Volkswagen, but also the french maker Citroen, who were building such engines and there were also efforts in the US.

Maybe it would be good to add that the original idea of this engine was the "Wankelmotor" and that the German carmaker Volkswagen had used it in the passenger car RO-80.

To be precise, the maker first was NSU, then Audi and then Volkswagen.
