The 30 km / Liter is more or less a wish. Realistic seems 15 km / Liter with all that stop and go and slow traffic.

Paul: I agree with your comment relating to the proper usage of airplanes. Still the first 787 and the A380 will fly on the same route.

If the 787 uses a lot of carbon fiber, I hope they have extensively tested for lightning. Carbon fiber might be conducting, but I wonder if the resistance path of a discharge by lightning is low enough. Having seen what electrical discharges around 10 kV can do to 5 mm thick FRP, I wonder how the Boeing engineers designed the lightning protection.

Having read the preliminary paper on ArXiv, the data analysis presented by the Opera group looks sound. Although the data suggests that some neutrinos are traveling faster than light, this does not mean that one can instantaneously transfer information using these neutrinos. The reason for this is that the data rate of detectable neutrinos is so low, that they had to check the full data set of several years to find this effect.

In other words, while there are neutrinos, who arrive 60 ns earlier than expected, still it takes in the order of a year (or in the future at least weeks or months) to accumulate enough events.

Seems like direct competition to the Airbus A380, which also is used between Narita and Frankfurt, however flown by ANA's partner Lufthansa.

For installing an instrument, one needs an access port. If there is one, installing is easy. As other readers commented, hydrogen detectors are easily available.

However, if there is no access port, then drilling a hole in such a pipe with a probably explosive gas inside is not a good idea, as drilling might lead to sparks, and when the inside gas is mixed with air outside and a spark appears: kaboom!

    Sorry, it should read:

... , and particles **WITH **mass can travel at a speed different from light speed.

Gaijinfo: You are right. There are solutions for particle movement both for speed slower than light and for speed faster than light. At exactly speed of light, the mass of particles which have a mass goes to infinity, which would need an infinite amount of energy. Therefore particles without mass (like photons) can travel at speed of light, and particles without mass can travel at a speed different from light speed. Let's see if the data taken by J-PARC and Kamiokande can confirm this.

As preparation (in Ibaraki-ken) I went to work half an hour earlier, therefore I was able to leave 10 minutes before the standard closing time. No need to ask the boss as we have a working time recording system, where one can clock in and out from the PC. And if one comes a little earlier and leaves a little earlier, one can adjust the recorded value to the nearest standard value the next day. Anyhow, I could avoid the usual car traffic jam at standard closing time and was at home short before 18:00. Some rain, and some wind, yes, but it took some time for the typhoon to reach Ibaraki from Mito. When the typhoon was there, it was interesting to watch the situation in Tokyo on TV while having nice supper with the family at home.

And then children enjoyed a nice bath while they could hear the strong wind outside.

Actually there are other batteries, even from Panasonic, which have more than twice the energy capacity.

Using the wrong expression at the wrong time can give trouble. This software should have a "Baka" warning.

This might end up in the direction of controlling persons minds like robots.

On the other hand as a toy for the salary-man he can find out if the orgasm of his girl friend is true or fake. Probably will be disappointed most times.

They are opening Mega-stores, but the LL-size of shirts and T-shirts sold by them seem to shrink compared to the ones I bought earlier around 2003-2005. And so far, I could not find XL or 3L in their shops in Japan, so they have lost at least one customer.

Soccer players might be not a good example. The headset has a good chance to slip or fall down, when they are running.
