but why should zainichi continue to get special privileges? they've been here long enough, they should either become japanese citizens or be subject to the rules all other foreigners are subject to.

japan definitely had more shots on goal. just wouldn't go in. if it was intentional definitely a great shot but oar's ball looked more like a cross that just happened to go in. tie on a penalty was a bit of luck but its the results that count.

while i have no object to changing the constitution, i am a bit leary of changing the hurdles for revision as it will lower protection for the rights of minorities, i.e. result in mob rule.

in japan i understand that the fuel surcharge doesn't have to be only for fuel by law. they just call it that to decieve the public. and ever notice how fast it goes up but slowly it goes down? or have no reasonable relation that i can see to the distance flown?

we don't really enjoy it. most countries don't tax income earned by its citizens outside their country.
yes, i read the article. i'm pretty sure apple paid what they OWED. not saying they didn't use the law to their advantage as is their corporate duty to their owners. they did. what's wrong with that? its only smart.

and you're a tax attorney?
the management has a duty to its shareholders to maximize their value which would include minimizing taxes so long as it can be done legally. its not evasion unless its being done illegally. in apple's they made the money overseas, not in the U.S.. i'm sure they've paid all the taxes owed on the money where they was made. so why should they pay taxes in the U.S. for money they didn't make there that they've already paid taxes on and is not brought back to the U.S.? its like say that you have to pay U.S. taxes even though you live, work and pay taxes in a foreign country and never bring what you earn back to the U.S.! wait...they do that already! :p

i wouldn't be surprised if hashimoto was right. its a fact of war. just harder to cover up now a days with the internet. figures that the japanese would systemize it though...in a way, i wonder if it was better for the subjugated population in general? less random rapes and violence since its systemized.

hashimoto probably shouldn't have said what he did. but at least we can publically criticize him. fat chance in china.

so what would constitute a REAL apology and humility? grovelling to china and korea? after having 2 nuclear bombs dropped on them and being occupied by the US, the japanese people have worked hard to rebuild the nation into a pillar of the international community. most of the japanese who participated in WWII are now dead. why should a generation that did nothing wrong apologize?

the problem with all current democracies is professional politicians. they get elected for promising to spend money whether they have it or not, regardless of whether it is good for society as a whole or not. anything to stay in power.

more like the other way around, china has been the one inciting nationalist sentiments against the japan since the early '90s as they need an outside enemy to take the peoples' eyes off the corruption, pollution and lack of freedom at home and hold the country together, notwithstanding that japan has been one of the largest investors in the modernization of china. the japanese people are just getting fed up with giving money to a country that doesn't even acknowledge, much less appreciate their contribution and continually bad mouths them .

then how do we know that they didn't go personally? its obvious that china/korea are only using this to pressure the japanese government and china very clearly said that nobody should mettle in their internal affairs, so why shouldn't japan tell them the same? why must the japan try to appease china? if china attacks japan for asserting its sovereign rights, isn't china wrong? isn't there the religious freedom in japan to worship what we want to? there certainly isn't in china.
