but by giving women a break aren't they discriminating against the men? especially if the job requires physical labor? its a biological fact that men and women are different. by hiring women, employers risk them getting pregnant, leaving work and never returning, thereby losing the valuable training and experience that they have given them. how should they be compensated for such risk? i don't believe that women should be discriminated against but neither should men be discriminated against.

i am guessing that the construction company did it as a way to save on the amount of concrete they would have had to use.

if he's innocent he will be vindicated, if not, he will go to jail. every action has consequences, he just wants to reap the benefits but not the penalties. if he were so noble and honorable as he makes himself out to be, he would face the consequences. come to think if it, if he were noble and honorable, there would be no question of a rape charge, not to mention two.

Nobody's stopping him from leaving the embassy. What's he complaining about?

He has refused to leave the country voluntarily after an appeal was struck down

uhh, and so how is he being "detained"? you don't like it, don't come, instead of trying to impose your views.

as i have been saying, let the owner/operator decide. if the government wants to make all government buildings, smoke free, fine but if a restaurant or hotel wants to allow smoking it should be entitled to, just put up a sign at the door on whether it is a smoking or non-smoking establishment and if you don't like it don't go in, let the owner decide which side his bread is buttered on.

Posted in: Public facilities such as hospitals, schools and government buildings could be made completely smoke-free, while restaurants and hotels used by the general public could be required to have separate smoking areas.

yes, why must this generation which has done nothing wrong continue to pay for the sins of the previous generation, who ostensibly already been punished? the previous generation is for the most part dead and gone. the only reason by it keeps getting dragged up is for political purposes or cause they want money which they can't get in court, even after japan has given millions in donations and aid to the countries it invaded, that their governments have not used that money for the benefit of the victims is their problem. furthermore its not really clear that all were forced to be sex slaves, prostitution is after all the worlds oldest profession.

the problem with paying bueaucrats is that they are parasites, they have to raise taxes to pay them and don't actually produce anything.

the japanese government, korean government and professor are probably all correct.. the problem is that each side chooses to promote the stories that are most beneficial to and promote their goals / positions.

arguably, japan already has made a break from its inglorious past, it is a peaceful upstanding member of the world community, follows the rules and has played a large part in funding and supporting the modernization of china's and korea's economies. so what does china really mean?

don't count on the US for defense. the US promised to defend the Ukraine if they gave up their nukes. look at the defense they got, sanctions, some defense. japan needs nukes for deterrence. don't need a lot, a dozen or so mounted on cruise missiles would probably be enough, an armed society is a polite society.
