China’s official news agency is warning the incoming Japanese prime minister not to ignore Beijing’s ‘core interests’ or seek to portray it as a threat to regional peace and stability

so whose threatening who? this is exactly the reason why china is portrayed as a threat!

how convenient, TEPCO told us they knew there could be a big tsunami but only 4 days before and with no evidence of having had the conversation. if it wasn't obvious that NISA was in cahoots with TEPCO it now should be.

the problem is since they are in cahoots, nobody will be charged, nobody will go to jail, there will be no help from the administrative / legislative side of the government. the only way to get justice would be for everyone affected to SUE TEPCO and hope the courts are not as corrupt as the rest of government.

TEPCO should be responsible for the cost of scraping up all their radioactive contamination and buying all contaminated produce. they should buy all the land in the areas where people are not entitled to return to their homes, they should compensate all the people for their lost livelihoods and businesses, they should pay for the emotional distress inflicted on parents with small children who worry if their children will get cancer.

and if they can't they should be put into bankruptcy.

personally i find its a little worrying that he is affiliated with the the cult sokkagakai. although the problem with japanese politicians (all politicians?) is that they are all more concerned about playing politics than actually doing something for japan.

if the government actually tested the food, they wouldn't have had to do it themselves. that's the problem, there is no comprehensive transparent testing program in place. the government just says its okay to avoid having to take action and you're suppose to take it on faith that its safe, when in fact, the government has no idea..

tepco's management gambled that a tsunami of that size would not happen (at least on their watch) and lost and should pay up. tepco should be put into bankruptcy to ensure that the money they make is going to pay off their bets and not being used for pay offs. i don't know about now but before this apparently tepco spent more on advertising and promotion than sharp which actually sells something. so how many ads do you see promoting tepco? and where do you think that money goes?

japan needs a leader but japanese society is not geared for that. the nail that sticks out is hammered down, even by their own party. just look at how often the PM changes.

the cause of current financial crisis is too much debt. incurring more debt to stimulate the economy is exactly the wrong thing to do as its just kick the can down the road and drags on future growth. japan has been doing it for years and it hasn't helped.

as for how bad it gets, its anyones guess, depends on a lot of things. if there is no immediate crisis, there is a possibility of a muddle thru period of low growth, high unemployment and inflation but if there is a substantial collapse or default like of one of the PIIGS, all bets are off.

as for what countries are in for a rough ride, all developed countries with substantilal debt are in for a rough ride, japan, europe, u.s.,. the balancing factor is how much natural resources the country has. a more or less self sufficient country can default on its debt to other countries and still have everything it needs to survive. in that respect u.s., australia, brazil should be ok. china will have a problem as it doesn't have enough food.

The ongoing probe has led to the arrest of 52 people in the U.S. and 13 other countries—Canada, Denmark, Ecuador, France, Germany, Hungary, Kenya, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Qatar, Serbia, Sweden and Switzerland.

    No one arrested in japan

Members were then required continually to upload images of child sexual abuse in order to keep up their membership in the board, which included rules of conduct printed in English, Russian, Japanese and Spanish.

but rules of conduct in japanese....right....

stop protesting. just sue tepco. the legislative branch of the government is in cahoots with tepco. its up to the judiciary to see justice done. if they don't japan is sunk.

Under the bill, which passed through the upper house, embattled operator Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) and other nuclear power companies will also pay into the fund, which will then compensate the victims.

what a bunch of bs! tepco should be paying ALL! they just created this entity to hide how little tepco is actually paying. its all coming from our pockets!

this also raises the question of other feed for other livestock, chickens, pigs, milk cows, etc.

this should all be charged to tepco. they should pay all damages.
