its all political grandstanding and special interests before an election year. they could fix it in 5 minutes if the really wanted to. i did. take a look at this nyt interactive http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2010/11/13/weekinreview/deficits-graphic.html

the problem is that government has not been able to do anything but bicker among themselves. there are still people in shelters without aircon. there is no reliable testing of produce from the area to speak of so how can anyone be expected to buy their produce.

this was the first thing i though of when they started using full body scanners. where there is a will there is a way, there is no such thing as complete security.

they will enforce the law for a couple months and then only selectively enforce it when they feel like it or during traffic safety week, just like the law on parking, using cell phones while driving, seat belts, etc...

the guy is slime trying to ooze his way out from the possibility of a death penalty, just like he tried to ooze his way out of any penalty at all by running. i hope they see thru his sham and give him what he deserves.

TEPCO had been made aware of the possibility of a huge tsunami as one had occurred in the past so TEPCO essentially gambled that it wouldn't occur again and choose not to spend the money to upgrade their facilities accordingly.

shareholders take a risk with then invest in a company. they are betting that the management of the company will run the company prudently and make money for them.

in this case they both gambled and they lost. i don't see why taxpayers should foot the bill for their gambling. TEPCO should be force into bankruptcy and put under new management who should costs and run the company to use their monopoly profits to pay off the damages.

the problem is that while they call it a "fuel" surcharge, there is no reasonable relation to the amount of fuel used for a particular flight. the fuel surcharge to hawaii, a 7 hour flight, is the same or more than the charge to europe, an 11 hour flight. how is that?

isn't it sickening how ozawa and the ldp are using the misery of the people in fukushima for their political gain. first they don't cooperate with kan to help the people of fukushima and interfere at every turn, then they turn around and file a no-confidence motion for acting to slowly.

you would think that people working for the government (teachers) should do what their employer orders them to do.

whether replaceable or not, the facebook mgmt has some questionable morals/ethics with all the people suing them for stealing the idea in the first place. given that, i wouldn't put it past them.

you really think acupuncture works, such as to kill pain, then forgo novocain and ask for acupunture the next time your dentist drills into your tooth.

actually, they do use acupunture for surgery in china and i can tell you from experience that both kampo and acupuncture do work. i was skeptical as you but i once had back pain that was so excruciating that i couldn't even sit up straight. at the hospital they just gave me painkillers and muscle relaxants and told me to lie down for a couple days for it to get better. on the other hand, immediately after acupuncture i could stand up and walk. it was pretty amazing.

seems reasonable to me. the burden on legal immigrants is the price you pay for having protection of law.

so where'd he get the pistol? strict gun control works hence the akihabara massacre, the aum sarin incident, etc. if there's a will there's way. virtuouso's statement is still true.

japan really need a felony-murder law i.e. if you kill someone during the commission of a felony, its considered murder rather than manslaughter whether you intended to kill them or not.

She believes the idea of a hell where sinners are punished is more of a human construction.

all religion is a human construction. maybe originally constructed by someone as a path to help others achieve the kind of contentment that they themselves have reached but bastardized by others as a means of control based on blind faith.
