Now if only they would provide the same kind of vigilance to the uyoku protests that take place on a daily basis in the neighborhood of the Diet with soundtrucks at four times the volume they should be. "Get rid of the driver" never sounded so compelling.

I think everyone here is missing the point. This line will help to relieve congestion from Ikebukuro-Shibuya, and that's the main point of the line. Currently, these are serviced by the Saikyo and Yamanote lines, and are unpleasantly crowded at best and dangerously crammed at worst during morning and evening rushes. Allowing folks who have to transfer at Ikebukuro now to simply avoid this transfer will help in this regard. That, and now it will cost less for those commuting. The schedule changes will take some getting used to, but it's a welcome relief for those on the Seibu Ikebukuro and Tobu Tojyo lines.

From a trying to find information standpoint, it's an absolute mess. I'm not trying to pile on but this looks like a complete rip job by a content management system that didn't take into consideration how people actually use or read the site. Not enough contrast, and just way too much information - it's obvious IA wasn't a priority with the design. After all, for a site with this scale there's no shame in replicating/reflecting design for news sites that work (NYTimes, Guardian, IHT, Globe and Mail, et al) and I think you should have taken your time and done more testing with actual site users before simply running with this. The biggest problem is that the site is horrid for scanning, and there is no intuition built into where content is placed in the site - just three long columns of top news story and links for all sections. The best thing you could have done with this site relaunch, in my opinion, was to put some thought into the kind of content to be displayed as opposed to just dumping the same news feeds on us at random (again). Maybe it's not JT's vision to become a bastion of journalism for what's going on here in Japan, but I think by simply putting a new look around an old way of doing things is a wasted opportunity.
