Phenergan is hardly 'drugging', its over the counter like paracetemol, its not giving the kid valium. I myself I have never used it with the kids, mine sleep like champs wherever, whenever - but I know others who swear by the stuff when flying. It's win win for everyone, the kids relax and sleep well , the parents can relax too and your fellow passengers will love you for it.
"Phenergan is an antihistamine. It blocks the effects of the naturally occurring chemical histamine in your body.
Phenergan is used to treat allergy symptoms such as itching, runny nose, sneezing, itchy or watery eyes, hives, and itchy skin rashes.
Phenergan also prevents motion sickness, and treats nausea and vomiting or pain after surgery. It is also used as a sedative or sleep aid."

I had numbers points to that list above, but the rudimentary script of this board has removed them and now my numbered list makes no sense at all, my apologies.

Portable DVD? eh? nope! - even better, a PSP with a large capacity memory stick, much smaller and you can load dozens of movies, their favorite tv shows or whatever. Better battery life.
gameboys? get with program people! try "DS". This list is already out of touch....
connecting flights with kids are bloody nightmare!!!! Direct Direct Direct! who are these morons???
Live TV? must be a US domestic thing for TV addled Americans.
Window seat? loses its appeal after 1 minute when can only see "white" out the window and then the kid wants to climb over you to stretch their legs in the aisle.
No early boarding - finally something useful in this list!
Well, duh!
carseats may be great, but before and after the flight you have to "lug" that seat around through customs and the rest of the airport - a big hassle.
"Hand the kid a pen and tell them to draw mustaches on all the people in the in-flight magazine. Let them know they’re only allowed to do this on an airplane" lovely! antisocial behaviour.
for the whole section of your plane? that is extremely generous.
What a "Dumb" list with hardly any useful tips at all. Only in America....
How about this.....
Give your kids over about 3y.o 'phenergan' to help them sleep and relax. For babies it the bassinet, take some large over size clothes pegs (Japanese clothes pole ones), so you can clip a blanket to the overhead locker and make a private little room around the bassinet where passers by and the cabin lights wont disturb the baby. Spare shirt for the adults for when the baby/child vomits on you. Pacifier for babies or 'chewy' candy (hai-chu) for older kids to help them pop their ears. Let young kids walk up and down the aisle if they really desire that, sure you have to walk behind to, but at least they are happy and usually content and not crying, complaining, annoying fellow passengers too much.
Travel sites are rubbish with stupid tips like this list at airfare watchdog, if you want tips go to baby/child related site where practical parents share useful tips.

actually xylitol is the only trustworthy one, I am glad Japan uses the stuff rather than aspartame, which has a cloud over its safety. The USA etc all love the supersweet taste,so they stick with it rather than xylitol.
shame though XYLITOL is a rubbish gum, why couldn't have 'Clorets' made the ad ;)
FWIW I think it's a great idea for an ad, sure "Fake space" ads have been around for ages, but a genuine space ad - thats something different.

As Tmarie said, this people, is not a new phenomenon people indicative of a deteriorating society. Many many years ago when my grandfather was a young man he was part of a crowd that watched a man leap to his death from the observation look out of a tall Church spire. He recalled that people in the crowd too were egging on this chap urging/chanting for him to jump and how he was shocked by it all etc. That story has stuck with me for long time, I think at the time my grandfather was trying to teach a 'moral of the story' type deal i.e people sometimes do crazy things and you should try to help them not cheer them to do it - have compassion. But nonetheless its been happening for eons. In Roman times the crowd cheered on gladiators as they slaughtered each other. Pride, K1 UFC etc are extremely popular as tough blokes smash the beejesus of each other as the crowd soak it up. Cheering crowds in certain countries watch people guilty of almost nothing get stoned to death or hung in public.
If it were just one person, I doubt it would have happened, but the the crowd emboldening each other with the thought of some bloody action, sadly turned into the Romans at the Colosseum. As disgusting as their behaviour was, it doesn't surprise me.
As society as become more civilized you would hope incidents like this would never happen, but....

They should have done it years ago when they dropped 'National' as their main high tech electronics label. Matsushita is a name insular to Japan, they should have aggressively pushed Panasonic to create a brandname to rival sony, who have the second most recognizable brand name in the world.

Where do you people live?? Tokyo? is movie going really that bad in Tokyo? It sounds like watching sa movie in in an uncouth western theatre.
In Kansai watching movies is a pleasure, I only ever go on special days or late shows 1000 or 1200 yen. All the theatres were I live (Toho and movix)have allocated seating, so you can choose where you sit everytime. Most people dont eat food or if the do, they do it quietly. I myself never buy the extremely overpriced theatre food anyway, it seems to be overpriced like that in most countries as the snack bar is where theatres make most of the profits. Who goes to a movie to eat anyway? There is dead silence from the audience in the theatre for the whole movie, you can truly relax. It seems people still have some manners down here. At the end of the movie, leave - if somesome is sitting on the aisle say sumimasen and quickly walk past, all the theatres around here have ample legroom/passing room to do so.
I love going to movies here (well where I live anyway) it`s a great place to escape.
Reading this gives me another reason to be glad I dont live in Tokyo.

sex in the cab? I think most cabbies wouldnt mind so much, angle the mirror and get a free peep show, actually a paid peep show! As a cyclist cabbies are my mortal enemy, I, on daily basis wish a plague of locusts on at least half a dozen road hog taxi drivers. So I dont have much sympathy for them.

IIRC she divorced her husband because he wasn't stoking the fires enough, the term sexless divorce was coined. One has to ask the question, what was her husband thinking?

Poor caption. children go for a ride ** to** the park. It's a means to get there, not the star attraction in he park. They are most likely being transported there by their hoikuen( daycare) teacher. Those child trolleys are quite common in Japanese daycare and a safe way to transport groups of small children along Japan's notoriously narrow and dangerous streets.

I really hope Palin goes down in screaming heap, I have been aware of her existence less than a week and I already despise her: the Sarahcudda? try the 'Alaskan Banshee'. I just saw her lame speech on CNN and I now feel ill.
Please America, vote for Obama.
