Boy, some bitter people frequent this forum. Kokubo did bloody well, yet he is being slagged off in a flurry of vitriol?? I don't get it, he finished with an excellent run in the second run of the final. In case the bandwagoners didn't notice, only one of the two runs counted and he nailed one of them. Get over yourselves. All this kerfuffle because kid wasn't dressed like up all preppy in his team kit?, jesus get over it, the team captain should have taken him aside, had a word and that should have been the end of it. Yet the haters in society looking for any opportunity to take a chip at the younger generation jumped on it. Storm in a tea cup, but it did find them a poster boy for what is wrong with youth. Sure he came across as surly and immatuare, one day he would look back and cringe at himself or perhaps not. I could hand pick you a dozen high school boys who I teach who would make Kokubo look charming, I hazard to guess most people who teach teenagers could do the same.
So he crashed, big deal, if you had actually watched the whole event - prelims and final you would have seen most of the field screwing up at least one run. As a snowboarder who started riding when Kokubo was in daipers, I can truly appreciate the effort and dedication it takes to get that level and he did put on a great display. Otsukaresame Kokubo.

Wow the standard of riding in womans Snobo-cross is dismally low! if you didn't tell me I would think I was watching a local race on a no name hill anywhere in the world. Compared to the womans half pipe riders, freestyle skiers, mogul skiers - where the woman are actually pretty decent the Sno-bo cross riders are embarrassing

Funny thing is of the scores of Canadians I know, only one is from Quebec and he hasn't lived there for ages. I always got the impression Quebecers were quite insular and didnt travel abroad (except to France, I hazard to guess) a much as the rest of Canadians. It is quite a interesting scenario the Canada has: the large minority stick to themselves in one region and are sore that they cant be independent so the shove it down the rest of the countries throat at every opportunity.
Not much else to see here, move along...

I found a copy of the downhill on the net and enjoyed it with expert commentary. If you want it you need to take matters into your own hands.

its the 500m - these guys are sprinters - their shorter legs work in their favor. If you look at the long distance skaters, much taller -longer legs and long gliding strokes. Those three above are good for only the sprints. Horses for courses.

How much money has The champ raked in for the sumo association over the years? plenty, a whole lot more than a 120 million yen. He deserves it purely as a "thank you for the income you brought us even though you were a pain in the ass and we milked it as long as we could"
120 million maybe a lot to a lowly shufu or office drone but for an elite sportsman its a pittance compared to football or pro-baseball.

It's Musashigawa, not kawa.
It would be good if Takanohana gets to the top, Sumo needs a new direction.

Docomo HT03A is a sweet phone, 30000yen c.f 60,000yen for the new J-models. Iphone is definitely a nice phone and I would have got one if they had come to docomo, shame NTT wouldnt cave into to Apples demands. Android phones will only get better and soon will be the default OS for smartphones. As far as the nexus goes, Google havent realy branched into hardware, they subcontracted that out to HTC, they just made what they thought was the best design to optimize Android. Only ships with 4GB? so what, get your own 16 or 32 gb card, they cost peanuts these days. You can also change the battery and sim card easily, the camera is much better. One issue though is the music player still is clunky on the nexus as ohter android phones, they gotta fix that up.

Well I for one need the most powerful PC's out there. I do a lot of video and graphics work and encoding video churns really give the PC a huge workout. You need a decent graphics card to pay many games now and even to watch HD video on advanced codecs needs grunt.
Sure if you use the PC for net, MS office and email, you can suffice with a older more basic model, but that why makers sell cell budget computers with low end celeron type processors and basic graphic cards.
Dont feel obliged to buy a high end computer, buy a low end one! "horses for courses" as they say

two years late?, no the iphone blazed a touch screen trail, now the Android phones are catching up fast. Android will overtake and relegate the iphone to a niche much like the niche that mac computers occupy. Apple is only a minor player at 10 -15% of the market for smartphones. Symbian phones (Nokia) still dominate over 50% of the world smart phone market. Android is aiming at Apple but also further a field to Nokia, They have bigger fish to fry that Apple.

I am betting he was quite drunk at the time and yelled something incomprehensible at the kid in some mucky guttural dialect....Korah!! blah blha blah. Kid being a 2 year old thought it was game/ couldnt understand and kept doing what he was doing and the next his history.
They didn't list his job, no 'company employee' as the usual goes in these reports? no job?

Sasuke only and even that is getting a bit tired, too many "talent" dorks with zero athletic ability making asses of themselves - trying to bump ratings no doubt. Other than that, I can safely assume it was par for the course. TV shows here are what someone must have been watching when he coined the term "omnidirectional sludge pump"
I heard Susan Boyle was on the Kohaku....oh boy....

Waste of money. Difference in taste between a 9000yen and 109,000 yen rice cooker - small. in comparison: Difference in performance between a 29,000 computer and a 129,000 computer - massive. You have to know when and where extra money is worth it, unless of course you are filthy rich.

Keyboard punchers - usually petite ladies who insist on typing by smashing the keyboard, especially when inputting data with numeric keypad on the right side of the keyboard.
Coffee and noodle slurpers in the eating spaces (often right next to the work spaces.... I don't buy the cultural difference, its annoying unnecessary and offensive to the ears. Burping is a far more natural bodily function and often necessary to relive discomfort yet it's considerate impolite even when done discretely? [shrugs shoulders].
