Yes, Captain Obvious, women are more selective. At least the women I know are, for good reason.

@Brighteyes- I agreed with you up until the bit about begging. Whether they want us back or not, I don't WANT to come back. I'm stuck in Tokyo rt now, been here about a year and hate it. If it's this bad here, I can't imagine how much being in Okie sucks. For the record, I know Japanese and I am learning Kanji, don't date the J-girls, certainly don't rape them, etc. and yet I am still treated like an imperialist pig. The sooner we leave, the better. It's what they want, and let them have it, IMO.

Incidents like this make me glad I don't have kids. Glad that girl got away.

Yawn...how much more evidence do we need that the shroud was a fake? People should just put this nonsense relic in the hoax box where it belongs.

@TheQuestion- While dying the cloth would have been less time consuming, dye was pretty expensive back then, so I'm guessing maybe it was just cheaper for the hoaxers to create it this way? Just a theory, but it makes sense to me.

womanforwoman- I couldn't agree with you more, people really need to think about issues like this before getting married. Unfortunately, it looks like these are 2 people who just act upon whims and spur of the moment feelings, which is heartbreaking to watch. The only ones who will truly suffer in this situation are those children. Both of them are being yanked here and there across 2 different countries based on the whims of two very selfish parents who really don't seem to care about them at all. Children are a responsibility, not a right and people really need to understand that.

I don't see any tattoos of an ex-boyfriend on this girl, I see some really nice designs that she chose for herself. Whatever your personal opinions on tats may be really don't matter. It's just an interesting picture.
I think tattoos are a lot like clothes, you can really get a sense of someone's character through the designs they choose.

They only surveyed 100 women, yet this was a large enough sample to declare that we have entered "The age of the disposable male?" Even for a trashy rag like Spa! this is a new low. On the plus side, I can now start my morning off with a laugh.

@Betting- Nothing strange at all, not every beautiful person will appeal to everyone. For ex., Brad Pitt doesn't do a thing for me. It doesn't make him any less attractive to the rest of the world, nor does it mean he has "love handles" and is "fat", it's simply a personal preference on my part. Kudos to you for stating your feelings in a non-misogynistic, chip on my shoulder kind of way, maybe you'll start a trend here at JT. : )

kirakira25- I couldn't agree more with your post and congrats on your marriage. It sounds like you both know what it takes to have a fulfilling relationship, and money is not the only consideration Japanese people should be thinking of. Japanese people need to stop selling themselves so cheaply. in my opinion. Happiness is a lot more than a handbag or the right apartment, there are enough miserable people with money out there to prove my point.

@biglittleman- Wow! I would love to see the women that make these three look ugly! Personally I wish I was only half (no pun intended) gorgeous as these three.

I 'm not really surprised by the findings in this survey. Based on what I've seen of "relationships" in Tokyo, they seem to be very emotionally shallow. I won't lie and say that money doesn't play a factor in love, but I will always feel that it should take a backseat to developing a strong emotional bond with your partner, which will last you a lifetime. Perhaps if more Japanese realized this, there would be a drastic decline in sexless marriages and 30 year-old virgins. @LoveUSA- I completely sympathize with your situation, I'm in the same boat myself. Try not to let it get you down too much. Remember, we can always go home and find nice guys! If you ever feel like commiserating with a fellow blonde ex-pat, I'll be drinking in Shinjuku.

I've never actually been to a host club, but it's my understanding that their job does involve more than simply bar tending. It involves flattery and interaction on a personal and sometimes physical level. If that's the case, then yes, he does have some responsibility if he knew she was driving that night. While I wish it was simply a moral responsibility, it appears that Japan has made it a legal responsibility as well.

Sigh...people need to learn that no means no. While I'm happy the police actually paid attention in this actress's case, I'm a little sad that other women (non famous) don't get the same serious attention paid to their complaints of stalking. Stalking (by men and women) is a serious problem here in Japan and will continue to be as long as the police don't take proper action in cases involving normal men and women.

Klein2- I was responding to AK619's comments that all military members should feel "unity" with a criminal who not only deserted the military and broke his oath but also chose to murder an innocent man in cold blood. Please read the entire thread to clear up any confusion.
