    I hope more riders on the Chuo line start acting like these Ginza passengers. While I sympathize with those who are depressed enough to take their own life, the delays can eat up quite a chunk of time.

    @Byakko78-LoveUSA isn't American.

    I'm all for coffee and I don't think a piece of paper really matters that much. If the coffee is good, I will go back. If it's not, I won't. My enjoyment is what matters, nothing else.
    Most Starbucks baristas are "qualified", which just means they were trained by a supervisor. So, I don't really trust those "qualifications" very much, anyway.

    The thing that bothers me about some of these recent gun laws is the effect they have on businesses and workplace safety.

    I really don't care about Americans in America owning guns. It's a personal choice and a constitutional right.

    I do care about my coworkers being able to bring a gun in to work. I do care about going to a bar and having to worry that some guy with an itchy trigger finger and a beef is going to shoot up the place.

    My right to personal safety should trump somebody else's right to carry a gun, ALWAYS.

    Does anybody here watch "The Office"? Would you be comfortable with Dwight bringing a gun into work? I've worked with a few people in my time that I would classify as "Dwights" and the last thing I would want is for this person to be armed near me at my job.

    @kirakira- You're an amazing mum!

    I think a lot of the parenting problems that I see here really come down to the fact that people here are unwilling or unable to ask for support and are afraid of revealing their frustrations and feelings. Part of what makes Kira a good mum is being able to blow off steam here at JT. Children are extremely frustrating, and if you bottle up your reactions to that frustration, some people just snap. I'm not excusing her actions in any way, this woman should have known better. Tatami mats and futon beds are pretty soft, it's not as though this woman was throwing her child onto a firm mattress where the child may have conceivably survived due to the thick padding. She HAD to have known what could have happened to a delicate 3 year old's body if she took that risk.

    As far as the father is concerned, I wonder where he was when all this was going on? Didn't he notice anything?

    I think she looks gorgeous! Wow, 170 cm? That's my height! We should hang out and laugh at short men together. :)

    This is too weird. Urinating through a mail slot is expressing interest in a woman???? Umm...whatever happened to flirting and trying to impress a girl with CONVERSATION? Those normally work just fine.

    He seems harmless based on this news account, but the urine thing is a little weird and strangely aggressive. I'm glad they caught him now, it's hard to say what this man is capable of. On a scale of weird, this behavior ranks a 10, I hope they send him for mental help.

    Sick creep, it's a good thing they caught him. It's unfortunately too late for Miss Ogino, but they've saved other women from becoming his victims in the future. Sexual sadists like this don't stop committing crimes, their assaults only increase in violence. It's a shame they didn't catch him before Miss Ogino lost her life, but sexual assaults (even coupled with robbery) aren't taken very seriously here. I hope the police begin taking a more serious look at assaults and stalking here in Japan.

    Well, finally the Royal family does something right! Hopefully they're protecting the rights of their subjects to be protected from these freaks just as vigorously.

    I would stick with the idea of protesting in front of the Diet, none of these politicians care if you make life uncomfortable for Americans. If you inconvenience THEM, however......

    Wow! Kinda goes to show you how prevalent this groping b.s is. It's not just train stations/public parks/bars/eateries anymore, now it's right in front of POLICE STATIONS. How long will it take for people to realize this kind of abuse is completely unacceptable? Thank goodness this woman was a cop.

    I'm not against the sentiment behind either of these shoe throwing incidents, but I am against throwing things in general. Didn't any of these people learn that throwing things at others is wrong? I never voted for Bush and feel passionately about his presidential legacy (aka what we're trying to recover from), but violence is not a way to get your point across.

    If Gandhi/Martin L.King/Cesar Chavez can do things non violently and have their voices heard, why can't we do the same?

    Throwing things is an exercise in futility as far as real change is concerned. Grow up and learn to get your point heard through adult actions.

    So, what's the latest? He's on the news now, so I guess they formally arrested him for the murder today?

    @Yelnats- Well said. Marriage is like taking a year or two off to write a novel, great in theory but terrible in practice. Never made the mistake (marriage) myself and don't plan to.

    Still sad news, though. Based on the article's description of their courtship, they had everything going for them in the beginning. :(

    Ugh, so gross! Saw this on the news last night. Apparently, the shoe was found not too far from the college she attended, hopefully that should help with the investigation. i think I wrote this before regarding this case, but the police seriously need to start talking to her friends and colleagues. Were there any strange men hanging around her in the weeks leading up to this murder? should be the first question they ask. Chances are this guy was stalking her from a distance for a while.
