@SpanishEyez37- Couldn't agree with your points more.
For all the other posters over here whinging about innocent until proven guilty, etc, etc. I wonder why you don't defend other accused in this manner.
98% of the posts on articles in the crime section presume the defendants are guilty and make comments about stringing them up, giving them the death penalty and so on. In this case, a lot of people (some the same ones screaming for blood) are sitting here, defending this creep, pleading for sympathy and understanding for this guy. Well, why?
At least be consistent with your hypocrisy. If you want to defend criminals, do it in all cases, not just ones involving Japanese victims.

Perhaps we should all try to "understand" her as we are trying to do with Tatsuya Ichihashi? All these cries of "String 'em up!" seem to be almost entirely absent in that circumstance.

Lots of people use aliases, especially in Japan. Movie stars, hosts, hostesses, etc. Use of an alias has nothing to do with your underlying mental condition, especially if you're a criminal on the run.
That said, it's quite obvious he's NOT right in the head.

Tossing out gossip about how she never should have gone to his apato and that she may have rejected him has never helped anyone understand anything.
However, if they could try to remember that Lindsay Hawker was a real person and give her some respect that would be nice.
No matter what she did or didn't, he had no right to kill her.

Let's stop sugarcoating this. He is a killer, he is a control freak, he is capable of crocodile tears and he was probably crying because his life was destroyed and he knew it. Besides, who cares if he cries? That's just one more thing that Lindsay will never be able to do, though I'm sure she did a lot of it in her last few brief moments of life. Why don't we all try to spare a thought for her now instead of attempting to understand Mr. One Chopstick. I don't have a molecule of sympathy for him, I reserve that emotion for Lindsay. She deserves it.

Moderator: Readers, no further lurid speculation of what might have happened please.

If any woman is with a man whose intent is to cause her physical harm (and trust me, it's obvious) profanity is usually warranted. As far as trying to understand him, why? Leave that to the psychiatrists. I don't care about his motives, reasons, etc. He murdered her in cold blood. He convinced HER to go to his apato, not the other way round. He KNEW what he was doing, don't infantilize/protect him. I have no desire to understand him, I'm afraid I already do. Just another creep with a control fetish, like most murderers of his type. He took advantage of Lindsay because she was weak, not because she was foreign. If he had met a Japanese girl in the same situation, I'm quite sure he would have killed her instead. Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't it been reported he was abusive to his previous girlfriend?

Yes, please. It would make my weekends so much easier if I could take a train home at 2 or 3 instead of waiting.

Even if her murder was connected to her job, what does that matter? What if this woman were a firefighter, or police? Would we be justifying her murder then? Those jobs are dangerous too, shouldn't those women expect to be burned in a fire or murdered on the job, too? I'm pretty sure no poster would make comments like the ones I'm reading here in those cases, though. Who cares if she was a kyabakura? She knew the risks? What a ridiculous justification. This is Japan, women take risks walking down the street here. We need to stop giving these criminals excuses! It's never okay to murder a woman, no matter what her job is. Her job was only risky because criminals prey on women in these jobs, and they do this because we tell them that it's okay to prey on women like this. Every time we say something callous like "She should have known the risks" or "Well, she did work in a cabaret..." we give unstable men an excuse to murder women because they're not "good" women, so no one will miss them. We need to stop giving sickos a free pass on crimes like this. This woman had every right to live her life and have her safety guaranteed, no matter what her job was.

I hope they catch whoever murdered her and send a message with this case. Especially if it was a customer.

Sad. I think this guy looks better in a skirt than I do!
I have to second the no wonder Japanese women can't find a guy to marry comment, though. Who wants to date a guy who borrows your clothes and makeup? Yeah.....no thanks.
On the plus side, though, if you didn't have time to shop for a Halloween costume, I bet he might be able to loan you something. As long as you don't mind dressing up in a sailor suit, that is.

Yikes! Maybe it's a bad picture, but I'm pretty sure she's NOT marrying him for his looks. I see way better looking guys just on the train, he's nothing special.

I'm amazed that LoveUSA knows all of these women! How can you tell if they're stupid, though? What's the criteria? IQ? Vocabulary skills? Do they have the intelligence to use the spell check function on their computer, at least? Can they spell and use words like pheromone correctly in a sentence? That's kind of a tip off about someone's intelligence to me. My advice? People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

They seem intelligent enough to me and even if they aren't, it really doesn't matter. Intelligence isn't what they're hiring for. There's no need for a real woman to be so angry about a picture of beautiful women. Beauty is displayed in your gestures, grace, elegance, wit and gentle spirit and has nothing to with bitterness and jealousy towards other women. Cliched it may be, but beauty truly does come from the inside.

Any girl of any nationality would give the cold shoulder to a guy who has issues like this one. Problems like this don't develop overnight, and a normal guy won't go and attack somebody because of rejection.
Hey, I'm frustrated, too. I can't find a decent guy I like in Japan! Should I go on a knifing spree?

God, no! That's not normal. Frustrations are normal, wanting a bf/gf is normal. Stabbing somebody? Not frickin normal!

I would say it's the behavior of a petulant child, but even children know better than to STAB somebody when they get upset. This guy is sick, nobody caused it, nothing set him off, he is mentally ill, pure and simple. No excuses.

It depends on the paparazzo, really. In CA, a lot of the people they hire are pure criminals, ex-gang members with records a mile long. Some of them are really terrifying people, which is why the companies hire them, to intimidate stars. They also have tricks of the trade they learned from their days on the street, stuff like how to break into someone's home, how to follow people, etc. These are not your average photogs just looking to take a nice picture, they are thugs.

Ever wonder why some stars have that look of terror in pics sometimes? It's not just because they're shocked at being caught.
There isn't enough money in the world to convince me that being a celeb is worth it nowadays. Everyone should be protected from these people and there needs to be a law put in place that bars people with criminal records and known gang ties from getting a job as paparazzi.

I'm not saying that all paparazzi are thugs/ex gang-members, but a sizable majority of them are, and that's scary.

@Sarge- I'm pretty sure LoveUSA is joking (I hope). Beyonce is completely gorgeous, but she's nothing to cry about. Personally, it's just nice to know that there's another kick ass American girl in town. ; ) Besides myself, of course. Hey, B! Give me a call if you get bored, we can take Tokyo by storm!

I think it's wonderful that LA has such progressive elected officials! He worried about their child's future? Amazing! What a talented man, precognition is so rare a talent, I'm glad to see he put it to good use. I think I will see what I can do about contacting him for investment advice, since he knows so much about the future. I am sure he also does pre-marital counseling, as well, to weed out prospective spouses who are mentally unstable/drug addicts/alcoholics/gambling addicts/cheaters/abusive. As we all know, that kind of behavior is also detrimental to future children. I am also sure he refuses to marry these people as well, being that he is such a concerned and caring man. A fine example of a human being!

Give me a break. He's a racist, pure and simple. What a perfect example of cognitive dissonance.

People like him are the REASON these kids have problems, not the solution.

@Miyaratmosphere- Can't disagree with your last post, Japan's definitely got a spot on my top 10 list of most misogynistic developed countries. It's sad to see how deeply entrenched these destructive attitudes and behaviors are here.
Japan really needs to start working on the human rights issues it faces if it wants to fix the problems facing this country.
Signing the Hague convention and allowing children to know both their parents would be a great start. Give Japanese children the right to grow up happy and healthy, knowing they are beloved by both parents.
