In such a gloomy world, we all need cheering up and this can be achieved by the expected Obama landslide.
McCain and his crazy choice for VP are going to be history by Wednesday, no matter how hard the republicans try to pervert the democratic process by dissuading voters with lies and rumours.
Go for it Americans - do the right thing and restore our faith in democracy and freedom

Why has this turned into a discussion about the day that the election will be held?
The only comment I have is that - as polls are increasingly suggesting - I hope we see a deserved, massive landslide victory for Obama and once and for all America becomes the truly liberal country that we know it to be. The militarists, the religious crazies, the racist and homophobic bigots and those who believe America can do anything that it wants in the world, are going to get a big reminder of their increasing insignificance. The true patriots - those who really love freedom rather than the freedom to impose their views on others - are going to be victorious.
I can't wait - and all I can say is that I hope all of the posters cheerleading for the continuation of massive and damaging failure under the Bush regime by means of McCain are gracious enough to turn up and admit that they were wrong. We all know that they won't have the guts, though

I would get them lined up with the firing squad, all hyped up for death, get them to say their last "Allah Akbahs" and then reprieve them after the captain has got to "aim". Then the rest of their life in prison to rot.
To all of those crying out for them to be executed, being shot is exactly what these deluded, depraved murderers want. The last thing they want is to be tossed in solitary forever and forgotten about - which is what they should get

usaexpat: Prince Charles' constitutional position is another subject, but there's no doubt that what he's saying is correct. There ain't much point having economy prosperity if the cost of such "success" is to cause the planet's ecosystem to collapse.
Criticising someone for raising the issue is daft - after all, the one man who can make a really substantial difference to the problem - your President - has spent the last 8 years encouraging all of the trends that make global warming worse, not to mention wasting hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars on making the world a more dangerous and unhappy place. If you want to talk about wasting taxpayers money, lI suggest that you look at where your own taxes are being spent first...

There's nothing wrong with having a good time, but don't force other people to get involved in your party if they don't want to. If I saw and heard a big group of people on a train wearing horror masks, getting pissed, shouting, exposing themselves and being a general nuisance it wouldn't matter whether they were Japanese or gaijin, I'd be equally unhappy about it. "People can't take a joke" is the moron's way of trying to justify stupid behaviour.
In short, be sensible and don't be d**kheads tomorrow night.

Perhaps "convicted felon" is becoming a qualification for Republican candidates. Mrs Palin is only guilty of an impropriety and abuse of her position...she must try harder...

Just another effort to try and support giving more of our tax Yen to farmers across the country to subside ludicrously inefficient farming practices on uneconomically small farms, and then still important by far the majority of Japan's food from the U.S., South America, China and other parts of Asia.
You have to wonder...

Is the "stylist" Korean, or do stylists have ludicrous stage names these days? I assumed a "Bun" was what he'd put in her oven...
I may be wrong and he may be the nicest bloke around but I can't help thinking that it looks like yet another case of a starlet getting it together with some "kakkoi" tufty haired egotistical twit who will be playing around long before the pre-natal classes have come to an end.

ImperiumMundi: "everybody knows that the skinhead movement originated in europe. round up the young louts and send them back there."
If you oppose the racial hate agenda that these idiots stand for, then it's just a tad paradoxical to suggest "sending back" Americans to another country, isn't it?

usaexpat: "you better believe there will be higher taxes with a Pelosi, Reed, and Obama controlled government."
After the USA has blown hundreds of billions on the Iraq 'liberation' and the response to the recent banking crisis, which candidate WON'T - in all honesty - have to put up taxes?
Neither is going to be honest and admit it at this stage, but whoever's elected, they will have been left with no choice whatsoever.

There are a few of the more extreme right wing posters we have to put up with notable by their absence of comment on this one. Hopefully not because they would agree with the intended actions of ignorant, hate-filled bigots like these...
The trouble as I see it is that people like these are the ultimate extension of some of the common views held by Republican supporters - remember McCain's defence of Obama against paranoid lies of some republicans in Minnesota, and the response it got? There is a lot of delusion and misinformation out there. Shame on anyone who would encourage such thinking, regardless of whose views their actions might be intended to support.

KaptainKichigai - there is no excuse for the driver not stopping if he / she was aware that they'd hit someone. Just because this person MAY have been drunk and on the road doesn't mean that the driver has no responsibility to avoid them.
Chances are that the driver was also drunk, or involved in something else illegal, and panicked. Reprehensible behaviour - and shame on you for condoning it

HelterSkelter - the more desperate you get, the more rubbish you come up with. No credible person, no matter how vehemently they support McCain or oppose Obama, would argue either that Obama is a socialist (not in the normal political definition of the term) or that he "hates his own country". That's about as credible as the confused old woman who called Obama an 'Arab' (as if that should be taken as a term of abuse - some of Dubya's best mates are Arabs...)
Honestly - grow up! Give us some convincing arguments why McCain is better, rather than parroting deliberate disinformation about Obama that only people like "Arab" woman would actually be deluded enough to believe. Trouble is, you can't. McCain is a decent man, ready for retirement. Give him what he deserves, and spare America from what it doesn't.

This is why people hate America - it's a country that seems to have no respect for other countries' terroritorial sovereignty. This double standard tends to apply only if you are a Muslim country, of course. Israel's integrity is sacrosanct, despite having far less legitimacy than many of America's "enemies".
Imagine an attack on American soil by foreign goverments or their agents? 3,000 dead in the world trade centre led to countless hundreds of thousands of innocent people dead as a consequence of disproportionate and plainly ill-advised U.S. policy. But who cares, eh, they're mainly just poor muslims half a world away from the heartland?
I hate the violence on both sides of this sordid war, but I can understand the flawed and dogmatic motivation for it on both sides, however wrong it is
