Really, this is such a non issue. This article doesn't even have a point. Two rich idiots break each others cellphones.

    An interesting article on ecstasy

I agree with other people, the guy is a dick and should be punished for his failure to render assistance etc.

Agree with you nemoflow, perhaps the pills contained something other than MDMA. As ecstacy is illegal, the chemistry is left up to criminals, by definition the worst people's hands to put your life into. A quick question for AK619- how would legalising drugs allow criminals to control Japanese people?

If you are incapable of assessing the risk difference posed by a perpetrator of a crime holding a gun, and an innocent citizen who happened to be armed trying to stop the perpatrator , then you have a very serious judgement deficiency.

Patent rubbish. How would you work this out in the heat of the moment, under stress, without training in defusing rather than inflaming situations like this? How do you find out who is the perpatrator(sic) and who is innocent- shouldn't that be left to police and the legal process? Oh, and I wait for the glib response along the lines of 'the guy who is shooting people is the baddie'. Your argument that citizens should be free to wield guns- and why wield if you're not prepared to shoot, makes that judgment impossible. Reckless intervention when coupled with a firearm are ill-advised if not criminally negligent, and those faced with the kind of situation you're talking about are more likely to be saved by a pair of running shoes than a gun.

All of them. Narcissists and attention seekers. Acting, singing, whatever- it's their job, that's where it ends.

    USNin,

Thanks for the info. I've had a couple of 4WDs myself, and I quite like an auto for sand work. I currently have a Forester STi, (only come as a self rower with 6 speeds) and I have to say I definitely wouldn't want it to have an auto, let alone a CVT, considering the limitations you mentioned. Cheers.

anyone with half a brain and half an education knows that it is a crime borne out of sexual frustration

Well you got that right at least. Luckily, there are many men around who have a whole brain and a full education- they even have self control.

And yes, we do get the irony. Your point, that she contributes to the objectification of women through her actions, is valid. However, it's spurious logic indeed that condemns a woman when she uses her 'talents' in a society that doesn't allow her to succeed in any other way, damns her when she is attacked- and then damns her again when she fights back.

"They offer you a feature on stockings and suspenders while applauding stricter penalties for sex offenders", said Billy Bragg, I believe. He was of course talking about England's media, but the same obviously applies here.

Bragg had the sense not to attack the woman who is in this case between a rock and a hard place- raised in a society that offers little alternative to cute and airheaded, in which money can buy you anything, sexual crime is swept under the carpet (or has a price on it in a hostess bar), force-fed cute until it becomes her raison d'etre and then gets attacked. You make a good point, but you're shooting the messenger in a sense. That she had the guts to stand up is commendable. In the grand scheme of things it probably won't amount to much, but at least she stopped the problem on that day, in that place, from happening any more to her.

Excellent work. I hope to see miniskirt police introduced across the nation. They couldn't be any worse than the regular keystone Jcops.

Point taken Kidoave and USNin, but it does seem a little like overkill- in the auto they might as well just go for a CVT box, and in the manual, for example the LS-F (IS-F?), it's just too many in my opinion. Does seem like a pretty nice car though if you're in the luxo-barge end of the market.

    Northlondon,

He retracted the statement anyway, and(unbelievably) I think there is an appeal against the severity of the punishment. But neither of these statements, nor yours, negate my point.

    You said

And with eye-gouging officially approved by the Southern Hemisphere teams.

    Riiight, well done.

    Davidattokyo,

Yeah, as I said I'm probably a bit optimistic, but it's good to see the Aussies starting to turn the corner after some disappointing campaigns in recent years. Here's hoping Australia can take the Ashes and follow with a Rugby World Cup in 2011.

Aahaha- I get it- a South African player was pinged for eye-gouging an English rose (the audacity!) and one of the coaches failed to have him hung, drawn and quartered- that must mean all southern hemisphere teams approve of eye-gouging. Brilliant.

Not so sure about the Aussies coming 3rd- there are only 2 teams in the Bledisloe Cup (I'm sure you were talking about the Tri-nations, though). I think they'll take the Bledisloe this year and ramp up to a World Cup 1st or 2nd in 2011. Maybe I'm just an optimist, huh. Anyone planning to get to the Tokyo match?

Second problem after maintenance at cheaper facilities in Philippines according to Aus. papers. Definitely bad publicity for Airbus, but Qantas' actions will also be scrutinized closely I'm sure.
