If JR really wants to cut down on suicides, they should remove some of the irritations that must drive people so suicide. Noise is the prime culprit. First stations should end their competition to produce the most annoying music when train doors are going to close. Then should should stop shouting every single announcement. A gentle female voice would be more effective as people may actually listen to it.
Then they could stop irritating people once they get on the train. It is not necessary to tell people at every station to turn off their mobile by the silver seats. There are already signs that convey that message visually.

Like many constitutional monarchs, he is not free to say exactly what he thinks. To me this sounds like a move in the right direction. He could probably not have said even this under the LDP.

Why didn't the interviewer ask why they still charge a fuel surcharge now that fuel prices are little more than they were 30 years ago?

I am another AU user. I have a Sony Ericsson model. The design is terrible. It has so many functions built in that it reminds you of Windows when you turn it on as it takes so long to start up. It has predictive typing, but it prediction is nearly always wrong. The design prize must go to the alarm, which you can only hear if you are wide awake and in a quiet place. Second prize goes to a music player incapable of playing mp3s.
Someone sent me a pdf file as an email attachment. My phone can neither display it or forward it to a computer that can read it. It only forwards text.
Like Foxie I would like to send SMS messages, but Au will sends text messages in a proprietary format that only Au understands.
It is supposed to work in other countries. I do not intend to check that feature to see if it works as any call made in another country is charged at international rates. It is cheaper to buy another phone to use overseas. I have an old one I use when I travel. It has an alarm that wakes you up and predictive typing that is usually right on the first guess.
Also, 12 megapixels does not produce quality unless it is combined with a good lens and a sufficiently large sensor.
Lismo is supposed to be easy to use. My phone supposedly has English menus, but the Lismo part doesn't. That too is rubbish.

"Savoie obtained Japanese citizenship." So is he American or Japanese? I believe that to become Japanese you must renounce your previous nationality.
I suspect that he did not obtain citizenship but, perhaps, a permanent residence permit, which is much easier to get.

Microsoft have released free antivirus programs. Then they started to charge for them. Then, I suppose, nobody bought them. Does that mean this is a repackaged Windows Defender?
If Microsoft designed more secure products, there would be less need for antivirus software.
As Pawatan says, there is good, free antivirus software already. I use Avira.
When you consider Microsoft's security (or lack of) history, why would anyone use their security solution?

But they will still continue playing music that is so annoying it could drive a sane person to suicide.

This PR is obviously designed for the American market. Where else would it be described as mid-sized rather than large or oversized.
What does "authentic four-wheel" drive mean? It seems to imply that Toyota or other manufacturers also sell fake four-wheel drives.
There are plenty of off-road or non-paved areas in Japan. The people who use them tend to use four-wheel drive K cars as big cars are just too large for many of these areas.

I believe Fuji cameras still have English. They certainly did a year ago when I returned a Lumix to the shop I bought it from because it did not have English menus and got a Fuji instead.

Spudman, nobody is spreading false rumours. Lumix cameras sold in Japan did have English menus until a little more than a year ago when some idiots in Panasonic deemed that as this is Japan, everyone who buys a non-duty-free camera here must read Japanese.
I bought a Lumix for my son early last year and it had English menus. I bought another as a present for a friend in another country last summer. As it was a present, I did not open the box and unwrap everything. The salesman was unaware that English menus had been removed. English language reviews and Panasonic's English language homepage said it had English menus. When I complained to the Panasonic service centre, they basically told me to get lost as I could not have English menus.
Fortunately, the shop I bought the camera from had a better idea of service than Panasonic and gave me a refund.

And no English menus on the version sold in Japan, only Japanese. Panasonic's PR always forgets to mention that.

Obviously they could do something. They could arrest him and they planned to do so on Saturday.
"They were scheduled to arrest him on Saturday."
"Hello, Mr Koga, we would like to arrest you on Saturday. What time would be convenient?"

At least he admitted he was wrong. MacNamara did too. Rumsfeld and Cheney never admitted they were wrong in Vietnam and were rewarded by being given the opportunity to commit more war crimes against civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan.
When I went to Vietnam, I was amazed the lack of hatred the Vietnames had for Americans.

He was justly convicted. What was unjust is that only he was prosecuted.

1,500,000,000? At 100 yen to the dollar that would be 15 million dollars. That seems somewhat excessive. Is that right? Mind you, if they did get 150,000 fans and charged them 10,000 yen each, which seems a lot for a local band, they could break even.

Isn't this article missing something? It has a large aperture, but there is no mention of how large. It has an enhanced shutter speed, but it does this means. The GRll has a maximum shutter speed of 1/2000 sec, and the GRlll has, surprise, surprise, a maximum shutter speed of 1/2000 sec.

I have a feeling a Thai word that sounds like "kawai" means something completely different. In fact I seem to remember a Thai being amused by that word meaning pretty as to a Thai it meant ugly.
If anyone who know the Thai language reads this, could they please either confirm or correct this statement?

These days we see many security guards at stations and warnings of high alert. Is the point in this if people are allowed to take explosives, which is what fireworks are, onto trains?
