Ric also criticizes dolphin shows that take place in the US. It's not as if these people are ONLY attacking Japan. He picked this as his special cause because he loves dolphins- not because he hates Japan.

I don't quite understand what the poll is asking. Why would same-sex couples with children or childless, be treated any differently than a straight couple in the same situation? To me, that's like asking, "Should African-Americans get social security benefits?" or "Should women continue to be able to vote?" or "Should Asians be allowed to get married?"

Discrimination is discrimination. And as Mr. Mackey would say, "Discrimination is bad, umkay?" :)

Right. To get ahead at the office, make good coffee and learn how to smile. That is excellent advice for women who want to work their way up from Junior Coffee Maker, to Assistant Coffee Maker, to Master Coffee Maker, and finally the most coveted position of Secretary. That is as far as you'll need to go, because your boss will by then be totally besotted with your coffee-making skills and will marry you, enabling you to quit your job and be a full-time stay at home housewife- every woman's dream!

Or, you could go back to school, get an MBA, become your boss's boss, and make HIM get YOU coffee. :)

I just wish they'd address the problem more directly. Instead of having women-only cars, how about educating people better? Sex education is sorely lacking in Japan. With better sex education, you wouldn't have women who are too ashamed to speak up to gropers and report them, and you wouldn't have men whose only sexual outlet is groping. Women-only cars isn't a solution; it's merely a band-aid.

Two thoughts. First, these women only seem like they want marriage because they are worried about not having enough money for retirement. Nowhere does it speak of a longing for love, or for a life partner, or even for sex! With that attitude, seeing men as only a means of monetary support, is it any surprise that they don't have boyfriends? Any self-respecting man would smell the desperation and keep the hell away.

Secondly, "Freedom is scary." Yah, well welcome to the real world, babe. As a mature adult, there is no excuse for not being able to take care of YOURSELF. That 2 million yen? Learn about investments! And save MORE- stop buying stupid brand bags and cosmetics. You live with your parents? Free rent?? And STILL you can't manage to save money? What??

I have no sympathy for anyone who refuses to take responsibility for the way their life is leading, and yet expect sympathy from those of us who ARE taking responsibility. We ALL have choices, and it seems to me they are choosing to lay back and cry rather then getting off their butts and working harder. If this is a real representation of women, then it seems to me that women think that just because they are women they should get a free ride.

I'm 35 and unmarried, but I do NOT relate at all. This woman certainly isn't going to sit around waiting for her life to begin. I'm LIVING it!

It IS mostly for men....I see she only managed to find one spot that was specifically aimed at female clientele. Hardly surprising. On the other hand, if one is interested in BDSM, it's not difficult to find a club where a woman can feel quite comfortable and safe in living out her fantasies. One good thing about Japan is that these sorts of places are quite safe, and treat female customers with respect. The staff are always on the lookout for bad behavior, and I've seen people being kicked out who wouldn't amend their attitude.
