I'm from Singapore so...ARE you SERIOUS when you say that 'cause I think Tokyo girls (in general, not just the 'kawaii' types) definitely have better taste than those over at my side (damn wonder how many times I'm going to get slammed for this). Anyway the grass always looks greener on other side, as the old adage goes (at least it applies to me haha)

i don't think there's a problem, cuz people will always find ways around it ... and I don't think MS is the evil tyrannical monster you all make it out to be ... not yet anyway... patience, people, patience!

hmmm but like what one guy said earlier, Tokyo (and not just the 3 cute girls in the picture) pretty much embodies modern Japan doesn't it? there are of course other beautiful aspects of it in the other areas of Japan, but I think Tokyo really shows how fast (and warped maybe) Japan is developing, socially, culturally, even economically...
cute ambassadors? haha it's only something Japan can think of and do, can't imagine other countries trying it out...like USA supermodel ambassadors or sth...think they should do something more complete though, the 'cuteness' is really just one SMALLL part of Japan today

It's very much a herd mentality isn't it? People see other people owning guns-->people feel unsafe-->people go to arms shop to get guns-->gun manufacturers make more guns 'cuz there's a demand for them-->criminals and madmen get their hands on guns and go on shooting sprees-->people see them have guns-->people feel unsafe--> repeat. It's a vicious cycle that goes on, a cycle of fear...that's what i think of the gun-owning situation (and of course there are those who own guns for the fun of it too) ...tkoind2, i like the measures you suggested to put a stop to gun ownership because the solution isn't as simple as banning the guns ...
I know it sounds a bit jaded when i say this, but i think things probably aren't going to change in America with regards to gun ownership...the small arms market has gotten too big to be snuffed out, and there's probably politics involved as well. Hope there'll be a leader brave enough one day to take the step forward for a safer society!

i agree...i think Google made the right move though; if it'd allowed warner or PRS for music to have their way in the deals, very soon the rest of the pack would follow, claiming royalties for every video they put on youtube for advertising. It just seems sad that people try to milk money out of every possible outlet they can find, but that's what i think anyway.

They should really do something drastic about the carrying of arms there, since the number of shooting rampages seems to be picking up in the recent years...maybe have potential arms license bearers go through stringent psycological tests or sth to make sure they are sane enough to know what a gun should or should not be used for...then again this guy might have bought a gun illegally too...damn

Correct me if I'm wrong, but in the Japanese culture, there're the 3 'highs' of a man that Japanese women (in general) look for right? like high educational qualification, 'high' in height, and high financial stability? So it makes sense, since these guys are only from, like, the highest institute in Japan haha

to FreeInJapan: I really love your argument! I think the point here in this whole issue is removing the barriers to competition so that everyone is on the same playing field (if there even exists such a thing). Let's face it, it's human nature to dislike a monopoly, the same as we hate dictatorships and tyrannies..the problem isn't Microsoft's money (though most people seem to make a meal out of it), but it's how they prevent other companies with a potentially good product from entering the market. That's the point of EU's intervention i guess, to give these start-ups a fighting chance before they're snuffed out too quickly by the larger companies.
That said, I don't think the other web browser companies have much of a right to whine when their programs all need microsoft (or an OS) to run on, unless they themselves come up with an independent OS as well. The reason why MS and Apple are so successful in their OS products is cuz they offer the user the (more or less) complete PC experience, with IE/Safari, WMP/ Garage Band etc etc ... I think it's quite a good idea MS has offered users the option to 'switch off' IE or whatever programs the user doesn't need though, I'd be complaining if they left them out completely cuz then I'd have to go through the trouble of downloading them. Hope this makes sense haha
