  According to your comment, we can conclude that every person who murdered someone (and I suppose you are including anyone who has killed, accidentally or otherwise, in this simple definition of yours too) would receive the same punishment, regardless of the nature, intent, circumstances or severity of their crime.

  Self defense aside, yes there is no justification for murder, no matter what the situation.

  But the thing is, someone who decides to go and kill someone just for the fun of it, and someone who is at the end of their rope because of a very stressful life is a completely different thing.

  No it is not MURDER is MURDER no matter the situation leading upto it.

  If this was the other way around (a mother who had killed her 2 kids and was claiming it was because she was stressed) we would have lots of people jumping to defend her (probably myself included in this), and saying how hard it is to be a single mother, etc.

  Hell no, that is the problem with Japan, courts side with people saying they were stressed and that is why they killed them. No court or ANYONE should side with ANYONE killing someone. There is no justification what-so-ever for killing someone, if you are stressed killing someone is NOT A SOLUTION!
