Sales tax is included in the price in Japan, therefor you are getting 5% off with Duty free.
No they don't, I bought LED light bulbs from Tokyo Hands duty free, you fill out a form and they give them to you and you have to declare them at the airport.

Keeping things in cash is dodgy period, if you wanted to keep your money out of the bank you would buy gold or something buy keeping cash is avoiding taxes

Are you crapping me? It's not a discount it is called Duty free, you don't pay tax, all major stores in Japan pretty much do it for foriegners.... heck even Toyko Hands do it...
