The "Weather Girls"? They were a group back in the early 80s famous for "It's Raining Men". Totally disco.

In outher words, big banks are starting to lose business and money for their transaction fees. They put pressure on the US government to do something about it. One more sign of who owns the US government.

Chinese here in Shinjuku are well behaved. Shinjuku is a no smoking district, and unlike Europeans or Americans or some Japanese, the Chinese crowd the special smoking rooms or corners and don't smoke walking around. I know a majority of Chinese smoke.

Hashimoto is a pimp.

Please note that even if the whole comfort woman business were to turn out to be a myth (which I don't believe), it would still be totally morally corrupt for Hashimoto to say something like that.

Good side effect: Japanese will understand what kind of people these rightists are and kick them out of office.
Japanese news reports that Hashimoto told US military commander in Okinawa that US soldiers should use Japanese prostitutes more for their sex relief. He seems to think that women are simply sex toys. I'm so ashamed. But please don't think he represents typical Japanese people's thoughts!

American society has made a choice: they want guns and everybody will have them, even little kids who have started shooting each other. Is it that someone has a mother problem?

Considering its effect on whale consumption in Japan, it would almost look like Sea Shepard is a group secretly set up by Japanese whalers to get attention in the news. Anything to get whaling in the news! And voila! After falling 90% since the 60s, consumption of whale meat is rising! Nothing like sympathy in the Japanese public for the poor whalers being badly treated by some heavy handed foreigners acting like violent pirates! If I say "white foreigners" will my message be deleted?

If China is so interested in historical justifications, they should go back to the Xia dynasty second millinium BC. That is what they are entitled to on a historical basis. Hint: it is very tiny.

I have six good friends from Okinawa, and they are all young, but they have never given any thought to being anyting but Japanese. Okinawa not being part of Japan is a completely absurd idea. Being part of China is just rediculous.

This is just an obtuse way for China to challenge the US "Asian Pivot". Making it as costly to the US as possible, and the US has to go to China to get more money.

Actually, obviously this is just a way to challange the US "Asian Pivot". It is just because there are lots of US military bases there (I think the largest presence in Asia). They are just poking the US in the eye.

They wanted Senkaku Islands as soon as it was announced that there was oil under the ground there back in the 70s. However, subsequent surveys have shown that most of the oil is actually under Okinawa. So right on schedule, China wants Okinawa.

Japanese apologists for the US military say that these incidents happen because after the cold war was over, the military lost its reason for being, and so the morale of the military is extremely low.

What we don't understand is why we did the same thing the British did, but the British have never been blamed or criticized or asked to apologize etc. Japan modernized after 1870s based on the British model (capitalism, techno-science, imperialism). We only did in China what the British did. And don't give me that story about how nice the British were in China. Unfortunately for the British, there is a 50 year photographic record of the end of empire that shows different (remember "the sun never sets on the British empire" - you realize what that means, right?). Even Chinese have pointed this out (I first saw this point in the People's Daily, English). Our relation with China after 1930s was a great evil. Some of us really believed that the Europeans had to be driven out of China or we were next. Some wanted to plunder China's wealth and get slave labor. Some, released from prison to fight, just wanted to kill and rape a lot of Chinese. Aso's family contributed to that, as is will known.
