He has alienated most of America s allies.

    Which ones would those be?

Ha, ha! Molenir just proved my point.

Once again Molenir could not accurately describe goodDonkey's position. I said I support the U.N. boundaries not "land thats [that's] 'claimed' by the Pals[.]"

Just to be clear, hear is what happened. An ammendment was put forth.

"Sen. Tom Coburn, Oklahoma Republican, put the Senate's majority party on the spot by offering an amendment denying convicted sex offenders coverage for erectile-dysfunction medications. Dr. Coburn's proposal would also have prohibited health care exchanges from offering any coverage of elective-abortion drugs like RU-486 at taxpayer expense."

The Republicans knew that any change would send it back to the House to vote on it again. The Republicans would keep doing that forever if they were given a chance.

The Democrats never voted to give Viagara to sex offenders; they did not vote for it for completely separate reasons. There is also the addition of withholding coverage of elective-abortion drugs like RU-486 that Democrats found unacceptable.

Nice try Badsey but that was an editorial not news. Even that biased editorial eventually said what really happened. It was just like I said. They didn't vote yes "because any changes to the reconciliation bill would have required the House to vote once again on health care legislation."

Shame on you for posting and editorial opinion as news.

    from JT

A court sentenced a man who masterminded a massive remittance fraud to 20 years in prison Wednesday on charges of violating the anti-organized crime law.

Comparing the above sentence I just don't get it. It seems like life or many more years would be appropriate. This is not the first time I have heard (on JT) of a sentence that seemed low to me for murdering a child. I just wish someone would explain why this happens or why they think it happens.

Moderator: Comparing sentences for different crimes is not relevant to this discussion. Please stay on topic.

The U.N. has set reasonable borders and peace would happen a lot sooner if those borders were respected. People like Molnir want to enter into convoluted discussions only to avoid the issues of peace.

Really? How odd, and yet despite your claims of propoganda [propaganda], its actually true that the Dems voted to allow pedophiles and sex offenders government subsidized viagra. Thats [That's] a matter of public record, not propaganda.

Another untrue statement. Not including an exception to a rule is not the same as voting for a rule. If you had a logical bone in your body you would realize this. The Democrats never, ever voted to allow pedophiles and sex offenders (repetitive) to receive government subsidized Viagara. They may not have included an exception but that is not the same. I don't expect you to understand and I fully expect you to continue arguing the point.

Moderator: Readers, please keep the discussion civil.

McCain must really be in trouble to have to stoop to using Sarah Palin to get votes in his corner. This is just another hilarious moment of McCain desperate attempts to remain relevant. I hope John McCain loses.

McCain has resorted to getting the "boner vote." That would be the tired old white Republicans that get a hard on for Sarah. You may be familiar with a few here on JT.

The second of the two bills also presented Obama with another victory, stripping banks and other private lenders of their ability to originate student loans in favor of a system of direct government lending.

    JT - via AP

The banks were getting paid for doing nothing. Almost nothing, they service the loans and they will still receive payment for that work.

The bill includes some landmark changes, like automatic increases, tied to inflation, in the maximum Pell grant award. But for individual students, the increase in the maximum Pell grant — to $5,900 from $5,550 for the 2010-11 school year — is minuscule, compared with the steep, inexorable rise in tuition for public and private colleges alike.

Since the bank-based loan program began in 1965, commercial banks like Sallie Mae and Nelnet have received guaranteed federal subsidies to lend money to students, with the government assuming nearly all the risk.

Don't worry Molenir I and many others would not expect you to support education in any way.

Let's just see which is a better campaign issue, boners for sex offenders or withholding someones ability to go to college. It's not like the legislation mandated that sex offenders take Viagara.

Denying money for school is shameful. Educating those on the lower rungs of the ladder is good for our society and all around good for America.

manfromamerica, I noticed you did not bother addressing the glitch I exposed in that kind of legislation (the last question in my last post). But don't even bother. I have no interest in people's opinion who dream of imaginary communists and are totally unaware of the real cost of these changes. It may be fun for you to talk about $5 trillion but I prefer to talk to the grown ups now.

Why don't you spend your time complaining about some of the real benefits that are being offered by this piece of legislation. I will give you a short list to get you started.

    1. BEGINS TO CLOSE THE MEDICARE PART D DOUGHNUT HOLE - Reduces the doughnut hole by $500 and institutes a 50% discount on brand-name drugs, effective January 1. 2010.

    2. IMMEDIATE HELP FOR THE UNINSURED UNTIL EXCHANGE IS AVAILABLE (INTERIM HIGH-RISK POLL) - Creates a temporary insurance program until the Exchange is available for individuals who have been uninsured for several months or have been denied a policy because of pre-existing conditions.

    3. BANS LIFETIME LIMITS ON COVERAGE - Prohibits health insurance companies from placing lifetime caps on coverage.

    4. ENDS RESCISSIONS - Prohibits insurers from nullifying or rescinding a patient's policy when they file a claim for benefits, except in the case of fraud.

    5. EXTENDS COVERAGE FOR YOUNG PEOPLE UP TO 27TH BIRTHDAY THROUGH PARENT'S INSURANCE - Requires health plans to allow young people through age 26 to remain n their parents' insurance policy, at the parents' choice.

    6. ELIMINATES COST-SHARING FOR PREVENTATIVE SERVICES IN MEDICARE - Eliminates co-payments for preventative services and exempts preventative services from deductibles from the Medicare program.

    7. IMPROVES HELP FOR LOW-INCOME MEDICARE BENEFICIARIES - Improves the low-income protection programs in Medicare to assure more individuals are able to access this vital help.

    8. PROVIDES NEW CONSUMER PROTECTIONS IN MEDICARE ADVANTAGE - Prohibits Medicare Advantage plans from charging enrollees higher cost-sharing for services in their private plan than what is charged in traditional Medicare.

    9. IMMEDIATE SUNSHINE ON PRICE GOUGING - Discourages excessive price increases by insurance companies through review and disclosure of insurance rate increases.

    10. CONTINUITY FOR DISPLACED WORKERS - Allows Americans to keep their COBRA coverage until the Exchange is in place and they can access affordable coverage.

    11. CREATES NEW, VOLUNTARY, PUBLIC LONG-TERM CARE INSURANCE PROGRAM - Creates a long-term care insurance program to be financed by voluntary payroll deductions to provide benefits to adults who become functionally disabled.

    12. HELP FOR EARLY RETIREES - Creates a $10 billion fund to finance a temporary reinsurance program to help offset the costs of expensive health claims for employers that provide health benefits for retirees age 55-64.

    13. COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTERS - Increases funding for Community Health Centers to allow for a doubling of the number of patients seen by the centers over the next 5 years.

    14. INCREASING NUMBER OF PRIMARY CARE DOCTORS - Provides new investment in training programs to increase the number of primary doctors, nurses, and public health professionals.
