Nope, never read it, source please and I will read it; even if it is anecdotal evidence that the CIA states is contrary to their findings. Hmmm, IG report, must be public record.

    The program saved many lives...

    Source please!

Aren't you folks aware the the US military regularly uses water-boarding to train certain special operations personnel?

I was not aware of that. Source Please!

If you claim inside knowledge from being in the service you better tell us what your job was. I was in the Air Force, worked in an office the entire time, had a high security clearance and was privy to a hell of a lot of information. I worked in operations two years and for the Security Police, at one of the largest bases in the world, for two years.

So which will it be sources or crock? I would not bet either way on this one. I am a wait and see kinda guy. Waiting for proof that is.

He said the questioning “played a role in nearly every capture of al-Qaida members and associates since 2002.”

So if you were to make a logic tree all the captures would lead to how many people at the top of the tree? What the hell am I talking about? Look he is saying that everyone captured was a result of what a person already captured said or someone they snitched on said. Person one gives info on person 2. Person three is either from info from person one or two or they don't meet Cheney's criteria and would therefore be deemed NOT "nearly every capture." In statistics they used the term confidence level. So I want to ask if Cheney would say "nearly every capture" fits roughly into a 95%, 97.5% or 99% confidence level? Since Cheney has a habit of lying his ass off (especially in CIA matters} (i.e. - Saddam had a connection to al Qaeda (and so many more)), I would bet this is just another case of his presenting the American public with another crock of shit. I would accuse him of double talk but that would mean he would occasionally have to speak the truth; he never seems to get around to that.

I just want a conservative to say he believes that all the al Qaeda captures stemmed from the initial captures of prisoners with extremely few exceptions. That means the ground troops capturing al Qaeda were guided by the CIA "nearly every" time.

What a filthy liar. Conservatives should be ashamed of a former V.P. who was derisive for so long and now is practically begging the American people not to prosecute him (read between the lines of his rhetoric!). It is unheard of to make such divisive comments toward a new administration, especially because he has dirty hands in this matter. But then that is why he is doing this, making these statements, because he has dirty hands.

Former Vice President Dick Cheney says, ... “saved lives and prevented terrorist attacks," “deserve our gratitude,” do not deserve “to be the targets of political investigations or prosecutions” “ and "played a role in nearly every capture of al-Qaida members and associates since 2002.”

Save the rhetoric for your trial, buddy.

    Conservatives Showing Their True Colors!

Mahoney said he was impressed by the backgrounds of the angry citizens - onservative activist, the Rev Patrick Mahoney of the Christian Defense Coalition

    /

Matthew Spalding, director of the conservative Heritage Foundation’s Center for American Studies, said Democratic leaders should not dismiss the surge of anger as an extremist-fringe phenomenon.

Not the fringe, interesting. Just how mainstream conservative is this kind of hatred?

    Sailwind said:

Questioned it? This is from the crowd that cheered when a shoe was thrown at Bush.

It seems like every thread this guy has to bring up the former president. Give it a rest. Ever notice that the ones with some phony made up syndrome are the first to accuse others of having it?

Many conservatives agree that the depth of anger is unusual, but insist that it is understandable as well...

I can't understand it at all but I do understand how conservatives find it understandable. How could any conservative find a "depth of anger" understandable that includes "a man with a sign reading, “Death To Obama, Death To Michelle And Her Two Stupid Kids,” swastikas, guns around presidential appearances and a host of other threats against the president and others that disagree with them? Oh and this ilk call themselves patriots.

African-American congressman David Scott, whose Smyrna, Ga., office outside Atlanta was defaced with a spray-painted swastika, said he also has received mail in recent days using racial slurs.

If the conservatives are using swastikas then they are claiming it as their symbol. Sailwind says they are the fringe but the conservative leadership says, " should not dismiss the surge of anger as an extremist-fringe."

"There’s a sense that our country is at a great turning point" (Matthew Spalding, a director of the conservative Heritage Foundation’s Center) - the things that pass for greatness in conservative's eyes is simply astonding.

Saying nothing happened is equivalent to saying we should only be guided by the consequences of any given action. It would require us to never look forward to preventing confrontation, accidents or intentional harm that began with legally viable situations. It ignores foresight. Why I have to waste all of these words when simple words would suffice to get the point across much easier, I cannot understand. So I will reiterate.

    Duh, nothing happened!

Why is that the most highly intelligent people do not find it necessarily to carry guns? I am not talking about the rich, who have security. I am speaking of the truly learned people of the world. I know what I am saying is pathetically useless as far as persuasion goes because the most ignorant folks are able to reason that erudition often means lacking common sense. They would have us believe that those truly intelligent people just don't have the common sense to carry a gun.

Has been reported, that at least one of those carrying a gun was an Obama supporter. Making him a Lib, not conservative. Still embarrassed?

Absolutely. Now provide sources for your statement as you have made very many unfounded statements in the past. "Representatives of the National Rifle Association did not return calls for comment." Neither I suspect will Molenir provide proof of what he said. It does not matter I stand my my original statement either way; Obama supporter or not. By the way many Obama supporters were not "Libs," or liberals if you want to escape the attempted slur. But feel free to "slur away."

this is a non-issue - unless you hate freedom.

That would be totally illogical thinking for anyone to believe that. There are so many other possibilities. RR must present a false dilemma to condemn those that disagree with him to "hating freedom." That line of thinking was voted out - remember. It is simply not a choice between one or the other. There are many possibilities. It can both be an issue and also I can love freedom. How childish to think otherwise.

I love the idiots on here that say they were not threatening the president. The intended to act in a threatening manner. They did not bring the guns to defend themselves. These conservatives are so embarrassing to the United States.

Tow missiles are arms; with the idiot conservatives on the court, they have no defense to say every citizen is allowed to carry a tow missile, that would not also apply to an assault rifle. NONE WHATSOEVER!

By the way if the media is biased as all those idiots keep saying where is Obama's pass on this one? This would be the perfect example. But he is getting no pass and he never has. He will do fine on this issue. But he is personally winning over people in the town hall meetings. No help from the press. He is doing exactly what I proposed on another thread. I actually said he should tell people to come forward if they disagree.

The encounter was so friendly, in fact, that by the end Obama was even asking for skeptical questioners to come forward — to no avail.

Obama is taking a beating in the press. If there ever was a time for the media to "help" Obama or to even tone down the level of discord evident in many people now would be the time to do it. It just goes to prove that the media is not biased to anything but a minuscule degree outweighed by the fringe, center-left and center-right that provides every single point of view on every issue.

I will put my ass on the line one more time and claim we will have a health care bill that will pass before christmas.

Bush is relevant to Obama's health care plan?

You must be talking to Wolfpack because he brought it up on this thread.

I could provide a litany of "scare tactics" that have been used by those on the right, on JT, over the past few weeks. They have made so many claims that were blatantly untrue. The biggest one of all is that the government is going to take over health care with the proposed legislation. All the existing proposals clearly state you may keep your existing health care plan. That would be when they vacillate toward the tax burdens on everyone to pay for it. Obama is trying to pay for it that is better then all the past Republican Presidents who each had programs they put forward without a word of how to pay for them.

I noticed that even on this thread sailwind had to use the previous president's name.

Let's face it the conservatives have resorted to name calling and they are getting away with it. Calling Obama a socialist is the same as a little kid on the playground calling someone names. He will try to use whatever name is most effective. Furthermore, they will try to yell at Obama's scheduled "Town Meetings."

I would advise Obama to have many of them televised and Obama should say, "Please don't raise you voice. If you have something to say make your point and I will respond." So far the proposal is contrary to the conservatives allegations on JT. Everyone would be free to keep their current coverage. That alone dispels the socialism charge. It means free market choice with a safety net. That dispels the charge that people will be forced into a government run program. They have been working hard not to price the insurance industry out of the market. It has been a major discussion. It is unheard of to be discussing "how to pay for it" during the introduction of such a vast change. But that is exactly what he is doing and exactly what he proposed during his campaign.

If I were him I would be very clear that the Republicans had their opportunity and squandered it. It is his turn. Conservatives have a funny way of looking at things. Let's take Bush's Prescription plan. Many conservatives put Bush down because of the ballooning costs. Many liberals see it as an opportunity to once again bust Bush's chops. I know for a fact that many, many Americans can now afford to take the medicine prescribed by their doctor for them. That is a good thing. We spend money on all kinds of crap. Bush's effort helps millions of Americans. It is expensive but money well spent. It also changed the free market. First Wal Mart then others offered low priced meds. Not only that but Bush set in place some controls that reduce the cost of the governments procurement of medicines. In the long run the Pharmaceutical companies are making even more money because more people are taking their prescribed medications. When everyone is jumping on the bandwagon to criticize the Prescription Drug Program I am willing to commend him for saving lives and improving the quality of other's lives.

It is the perfect example of which to compare Obama's Medical Care proposals. It will have benefits to the free market. It will cut costs to small businesses and provide an incentive for employees to remain in small business ventures instead of leaving when they achieve a measured level of success. It will create a more even playing field when America competes with other country's corporations that do not bear the same medical costs due to their governments coverage. Our labor costs are outrageous yet we have some of the most productive workers in the world. So the end result is job loss based on medical coverage costs. So when people are calculating the net costs make sure they include the benefits that are purely monetary that would not normally be included. They are vast.

As far as those who want to be disruptive at Town Hall meetings I say bring them forward. But they only get their turn and should not be allowed to monopolize the meeting. They do not represent unanimous opposition. They represent one faction. Let everyone's voice be heard.

When those who are currently uninsured and use medical facilities and services and are unable to pay for them, that cost is shifted onto the rest of our backs anyway. We either pay directly, pay higher costs for medical care, pay higher premiums or receive lower wages because the company is spending their income on insurance costs. Medical care in the U.S. has been a scam for years. Huge numbers of people make an income in the medical industry and have nothing to do with medical care.

Tort is a minuscule portion of the costs. The lion share is profit distributed among administrators, health organizations (actually money launders), and insurance companies. In my opinion more money should be funneled back to doctors and other health care professionals and health care facilities and more services should be provided. What a waste funding health care management like it compares to funding health care.

That's my gal; nice and feisty. Bill does not need to be kept on a leash. He is his own person as is Hilary. Bill did a fantastic job in NK.

Can you just imagine what the conservatives would be saying if we did not have the most potentially aggressive and dominant Secretary of State? She did not handle the matter diplomatically but it was a short and harmless snafu for criminy sake.

“I cannot excuse the past and I will not try,” she said. “We can either think about the past and be imprisoned by it or we can decide we’re going to have a better future and work to make it.”

As far as I am concerned she made proper amends.

As much as people would dismiss her assets, she is very intelligent and extremely independent person in a role of total dependence upon her boss' discretion. Outside of a physical altercation she would kick ass and take names in any situation backing her into a corner.

She is exactly what I expect and that is just how she rolls.

...he would create a “death panel” that would deny care to the neediest Americans.

Yeah, you tell him. That is what we pay HMO's and their spawn to do. What does Obama want to do make more people unemployed? Just think of all the current "death panel[s]" that would lose their jobs.

Let's see now, someone has no insurance and Sarah thinks they would have a better chance at losing life saving health care procedures under Obama where they were covered than without being covered by a health care plan.

I see once again Sara has the usual conservative bones up. The conservatives will be in the wilderness once again once Obama's plans begin to bear fruit. With the devastation of the past it will take time. However the conservatives will have new arguments when people are satisfied after the new health care proposals take effect and are a measured success unless you are without health care and then it will be more of a boon.

As far as Sarah is concerned, she just wants to keep the conservative clowns boners up long enough to collect some cash for her war chest.

    Sarge said:

Obama may not be able to run a lemonade stand but he runs the entire military for the United States of America.

Yeah right, whose? Not mine nor anyone I know. She is simply pathetic. Her strategy is to keep you aroused long enough to get you in a new frenzy over her next political aspiration.

The difference between Obama and Sarah is that Palin talks and Barack governs. How long is the total Sarah governed? Obama has been governing for 12 years. Before that Obama was a problem solver. Obama spent his early years solving problems that were very difficult in Chicago. Sarah was talking; she was a professional talker. He worked as a civil rights attorney in Chicago and also taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago Law School from 1992 to 2004. I guess Obama was a professional talker also when he taught. The difference would be Obama prepared lesson plans and had to delve into the law (you know that government thing!) but Sarah just had to read from a script. Didn't Sarah go to school to be a professional talker?

Sad would be the defamation of liberals with untruths and disinformation. I have never supported Ahmadinejad. I challenge you to post statements of those on the left that do. When you don't we will just assume you were talking out of your ass again.

It does not take much of a brain to understand that not hating Muslims is not the same as supporting Ahmadinejad. I have been extremely critical of Ahmadinejad. Most conservatives I know get that much. There are those of course who are so out of touch that they can't comprehend others who think on a multitude of levels. Of course it could just be someone so ignorant of any debating skills that they must resort to straw man tactics. David Duke was a Republican and one can infer that it is Republicans that would support his efforts. See I can use dumbass straw man tactics also.

I think the press has it wrong. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei knew he could no longer resist sticking his tongue in Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s mouth if their lips touched one more time. He knew that Ahmadinejad would part his lips one more time as he always had but this time Ayatollah Ali Khamenei must succumb to the wiles of Ahmadinejad. Rather than submit to "the love that dare not speak its name" the Ayatollah "raised his left hand and momentarily stopped Ahmadinejad."

But then again I could be wrong. ha ha !

I still am holding out hope that Rafsanjani will be the one who turns the fundamentalist Iranian elements efforts sour. I am hoping Rafsanjani will lead Iran to the left and govern more moderately.
