Come on sailwind, you know you want Obama to do the heroic thing now don't you? Obams wasn't much of a hero on this issue now was he? He wasn't quick enough to proclaim "The whole world deserves freedom." It is obvious you care more about America being perceived as a hero than preserving the lives of the Iranian protesters.
I guess I just need to reiterate that I understand you sailwind. Obama will never reach HERO status in your eyes. Like I said: 'What we are talking about here is finesse and intellect. Some people just don't get it."

You tell 'em teleprompter. Socialism in America is different. It includes mostly free markets. It includes 99 point many decimals (99.8888888.....%) public ownership of corporations, businesses, sole proprietorships, partnerships, LLC's, LLP's, S corps, C corps, Non-Profits, 501(c)4's, 501(c)3's not to mention a very health underground market. We don't need to pick jobs for people to be socialists. We don't need government officials in any corporations, etc. (refer to above). Private ownership, tell 'em teleprompter, we can still have socialism with private ownership. Don't let the stock markets, bond markets, Boards of Trades, commodity markets, futures markets and all the other trading facilities fool you either we will still be socialist. Just because people are still free to start up a local bank out of their own volition does not mean we can't be socialist. Just because farmers are free to sell their products to anyone they choose doesn't mean we are not headed for socialism. We don't have to be egalitarian to be socialists. It is not the Egalitarians anyway it is the Democrats. We can keep all of our various wealthy economic stratifications and still be socialists. We don't need central planning. We don't even need to nationalize 1% of our nations commerce producing facilities and we can still be socialistic.
teleprompter wants socialism and we're going to get socialism damn it. He hates socialism and it is Obama's fault that we have it. All we need is Social Security (see it has the word Social in it). And we are going to have Medical Security. And they teach Social Studies to kids in school
You can put lipstick on a pig but it is still a pig!

In my opinion Helter_Skelter has no concern that more people could have been killed if Obama had said the same words earlier. He obviously doesn't care about the facts. It is apparent to everyone in the world now that Obama took the victory out of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s hands. He tried to claim American responsibility and Obama's patience totally screwed Ahmadinejad. Ahmadinejad had to settle for claiming meddling when he so wanted to blame the whole thing on Obama.
The Iranian people just did not buy it. Now the idiots who tried to be the conservative American heroes are once again looking like amateurs. Remember these are the guys that fully supported Bush's cry of "In the Battle of Iraq, the United States and our allies have prevailed." wearing a flight suit on the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier during a televised address on May 1, 2003 with "Mission Accomplished" written on a huge banner. But United States President George W. Bush claimed the sign meant something else even though United States President George W. Bush clearly said "In the Battle of Iraq, the United States and our allies have prevailed." in the speech. On May 1, 2003, United States President George W. Bush became the first sitting President to make an arrested landing in a fixed-wing aircraft on an aircraft carrier when he arrived at the USS Abraham Lincoln in a Lockheed S-3 Viking, dubbed Navy One, as the carrier returned from combat operations in the Persian Gulf . He posed for photographs with pilots and members of the ship's crew while wearing a flight suit.
It was very important for me to paint the "hero mentality" that these conservatives thrive on. Most of them can't admit that Obama was correct in his approach with Iran and he achieve great results that have not yet finished bearing fruit. They can't admit it because they are to dumb to realize it. Many of them do not care one bit about a Muslim's life as we have all witnessed in their comments over a long span of time.
What we are talking about here is finesse and intellect. Some people just don't get it.

You are showing your ignorance again VOR. Without quid pro quo it is not the dirty shit that Blago pulled. I was one of the first to put Blago down and I certainly knew more about his crap than you did. But you can continue to prove you have no discretionary intellect. You can shoot off your mouth some more and prove that you have to b.s. your way through your comments because you are not up to the task of presenting facts and then asking people to accept your conclusion. The art of presenting premises and conclusions falls flat on its ass when your facts are just not true. Blago did commit "pay for play" by clearly presenting quid pro quo opportunities. Hopefully others will agree with you and we can identify them also as lacking the proper skills of debating facts.

Mareo, you may not speak perfect English but if you continue to read comments and post comments it will improve quickly.
My point is not to criticize you but tell you that you did a very good job - mareo2 at 07:55 PM JST - 25th June. You kicked butt! I hope you will get as much education as possible because you are a smart guy. You obviously presented challenges that could not be overcome by injet. In the future if you continue to do such a good job be prepared to be criticized for many things. This could include your country of origin or your English or anything else he thinks will offend you. Don't ever get discouraged. I remember you from years ago. You are not only able to get your point across but you are able to present good points of argument. I look forward to your posts in the future. Of course I want you to learn English better so that others will not be able to use that against you. But it seems to me you want to learn English better also. Good Luck.

teleprompter said:
I just wanted to try my hand at complete BS. You people do it so often that I figured there must be something to it. Nothing, to it; it completely lacks any gratification. Being truthful and factual is really the way to go.
Of course there will always be screwed up practices in Washington. Every job should be chosen on ability. But like another poster said. You can't "change over two hundred years of Washington politics[.]" Obama is effecting change that we expected. He is overturning conservative policy.
If Obama was uniquely involved in these practices the conservatives might have a debate here. After Tom "The Hammer" DeLay's practices on K Street that a myriad of Republicans benefited from I think we can forgo the faux anger. If the Republicans can live with themselves after the threats, coercion and extortion that took place under Mr. DeLay then I think we, Democrats, can live with a few appointments that were purchased. I hardly expect others to know what Tom DeLay actually did on K street (Hardly anyone even knows what K street is). It has become abundantly clear that most people have no perspective because they are incapable of doing any research themselves.
So no, I don't think it is any different if Obama does something that is bs. However if what he is doing is what everyone does then you need to criticize everyone. Obama has brought change we can believe in. I have seen him change many things already and the Republican/conservative shrieks are a testament to this. More change is coming. I never expected him to change everything; those are claims by idiot conservatives who want us to believe that Obama claimed he was bringing another version of the French Revolution. We don't need another bloodbath of liberals beheading liberals right now. The Republican party implosion is serving us all the entertainment needed in the political arena right now. Right now it is like watching Republicans in Stockton's The Lady, or the Tiger? with quite a twist added. The lady ruins their political career and the tigers will be there when they open the door to opportunity for the 2012 election. Maybe we will even see some more of the Republican men who like boys scenario before 2012 gets here.
In the meantime the Republicans will just have to continue wishing it was their president who was being criticized for his ambassador appointments and not our president.

sharky1 falsely said:
He is referring to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. It does not list same sex attraction as a disorder.
http://www.pdf-search-engine.com/dsm-iv-pdf.html
Once again we will have a thread with dishonesty. There is a difference between discussions of fact and discussions of opinion. Whether same sex attraction is in the DSM IV is a matter of fact not opinion. It is either in there or it is not. When one chooses to present things that are not fact as fact, it is dishonest. Same sex attraction is in fact not a disorder. Since sharky1 chose to lend credence to the DSM IV by choosing it as a source then people should demand that he admit it is not in fact a disorder. He spun his own web.
I would expect others to also bring up the fact that his claim is dishonest. There are things that can be said to be a misunderstanding. It is clear that this is not one of those cases. You cannot mistakenly have not read it in the DSM IV and then mistakenly say it is in there. He used a reference. I actually supply that reference in the link up above.
Sharky1's credibility has once again been destroyed.

I don't know which is scarier those who play on ignorant people's natural predilection for xenophobia or the JT posters who are sheep in the fold.
How about we put aside the unbiased eye act? What a crock. Of course you have an unbiased eye; it is just a sensing (biological) device. The moment the signal of these deluded individual's eyes reaches the brain, it is lost to an atrophic brain. It is an intelligent brain these people need not an unbiased eye. Intelligent design is actually the act of making a magnificent structure like the brain subject to "group think" and rendering it in lock step with every other brain within the group.
I don't believe that being gay is only genetic. I believe it is both genetic and the result of environment. I tend to think we will find a genetic predisposition in most cases but I think there will be a few cases of predominately nurture as the leading factor. Of course it would be common for it to be both nurture and a genetic predisposition as so many other things are. That raises two very important points. First, ignorant people will assume nurture is a case of choice; it is not. Other ignorant people will say that nurture means gay parents turn their kids gay; they do not.
Homosexuality is, as much a part of nature, as many other parts of nature that are present but have a lower probability. It is obvious to me that at least 10% of the population is gay. I think others have bisexual tendencies. Some gay kids will always have problems growing up. There will be gay boys who are trying to get in their friends pants while he is only interested in vaginas. This will creep a certain portion of straight kids out and they will expose the "the little gay creep" for what he is. It is hard to blame the straight kid because after all he is just a kid and may not know of any other way to handle it. But as our society matures then, even kids, can say, look, beating the hell out of the gay kid is not cool. They can also address the gay kid and say hitting on straight people is uncool. I do think that tolerance demands that gays can ask someone perceived as straight out on a date. But just once. I apply the same rules to a straight guy asking a woman out on a date. If she says no, continually asking for a date in the future is harassment. I don't see a problem with asking, in either a hetero or homo context, if a person changed their mind a few months later. I know it is impossible for some to accept modern society. Probably they also find it hard to accept that change is inevitable.
In my observation there are people who resist using their brain as much as possible. They prefer the mentality of a sheep in a herd. The backwards practices of this church should be exposed. Their sole interest is in keeping people who are different, that are not yet accepted differences, outside of society. That is why they not only exclude them from their group but seek to demonized them so that the larger portion of society can despise those who they find unacceptable also. Many intelligent people now recognize this as a form of hatred. It is. Let the denial begin. If you don't get it, you probably never will. You will just learn slogans to counter those that call you homophobic. You will say, "I don't fear homosexuals." You will say, “We have nothing against homosexuals. I just don’t agree with their lifestyle.” I guess the only thing left to say is that those who have these less than evolved brains should just be happy they still have opposable thumbs.

The whole world knows what "those guys were involved in[,]" apparently except you. I am quite sure those of us who were around back then will get a good kick out of your naive question. In the meantime, you may want to look up Archibald Cox. As for Attorney General Elliot L. Richardson and Deputy Attorney General William D. Ruckelshaus, their problem was they were not plumbers. If you were unwilling to do Nixon's bidding and fire the special prosecutor, as was their fate, or fix the leaks then they didn't "belong where they were[.]"
While you school yourself you might want to look up Robert Bork. He was the rat who fired the honorable Archibald Cox. Then Reagan had the audacity to submit his name as a nominee for Supreme Court Justice. These would be the less than stellar moments in your illustrious history conservatism. Robert Bork stunk to high heaven before but now Nixon is stinking up Reagan quite a bit also; all these years later. I really have to thank Tricky Dick for making the connection of Reagan and Bork to the Saturday Night Massacre.

Hopefully they won't be offering many felony criminals the chance to "have their reputations destroyed" instead of prison time. In America it was proven that some people are "above the law." Shameful
I am glad I was alive and in my mid-teens so I could watch the news and understand what was going on during the Watergate hearings.
"Because people have got to know, whether their president's a crook..." Relive the moment.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iAXh_P2D-T8
In a taped conversation with George H.W. Bush, then GOP chairman, he pitched the recruitment of pretty women in particular to run for the party, after two caught his eye in the South Carolina Legislature.
"Let's look for some," he said. "And understand, I don't do it because I'm for women. But I'm doing it because (a) woman might win some place where a man might not."
Reagan approves - Saturday Night Massacre
Nixon forced the firing of the special prosecutor looking into the Watergate affair, Archibald Cox, and prompted the resignations of Attorney General Elliot L. Richardson and Deputy Attorney General William D. Ruckelshaus. The next day, Ronald Reagan, who was then governor of California and would later be president, told the White House that he approved.
Reagan said the action, which would become known as the “Saturday Night Massacre,” was “probably the best thing that ever happened — none of them belong where they were,” according to a Nixon aide’s notes of the private conversation.
Too bad the Democrats gave Reagan a pass when he lied his ass off as president.
If anyone can find the phone conversation of Nixon with Bob Hope, in a news article, please post the link. It is identical to the rhetoric you hear on JT all the time. The problem was that it was right when we were leaving Vietnam with our tails between our legs. But Nixon was still going on about "the waving American flag" (paraphrased) and how we would be feared by our enemies and respected by our allies. I am quite sure the conservative heroes would love to hear such "profound words."

SushiSake3 at 12:14 PM JST - 24th June, that is hilarious. They never quite tell us how speaking out earlier would end or reduce the violence earlier. Analysts overwhelmingly acknowledge the damage that could have been done.
So let's look at what could have happened. The Iranian authorities would have listened to Obama's call for less violence. That is a possibility but what is the probability? The protesters would have given up their effort because of Obama's words early on? Would we have even wanted that? It is a possibility but these probabilities are so remote they are likely incalculable.
There was **a high probability that more deaths would have occurred **if Obama had made a statement of support earlier. There is a high probability that Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani would not have been able to form such a wide coalition due to the support of the Iranian people.
