Get those sneaky Russians! It is an odd case as they are not accused of going after state secrets. As the article states they are being accused of being "secret agents of Russia’s intelligence service, the SVR, with the goal of penetrating U.S. government policymaking circles." I was watching The PBS NewsHour and it struck me as strange how they were accused of infiltrating and seeking out policy makers. What happened to good old fashioned spying? Digging up the state secrets and sneaking them home?

Freedom of association is not literally spelled out in our Constitution/Bill of Rights; it should be. In many countries it is literally spelled out. However:
How true that is. Just because the Supreme Court chooses the easy way out does not mean it is justice. By "easy way out" I mean all discernment to be conducted by the government and all individual freedoms are subjective; specifically freedom of speech.
I am not against freezing assets and going after the money for terrorist groups like al-Qa'ida. I believe cutting off the money supply is a very effective means of reducing the power of terrorist organizations.
I really don't expect some people to get the value of freedom of association. In reality it is one of the greatest freedoms we can have. I wish it were in the Bill of Rights explicitly as well as the right to privacy being explicit.

Splendid comment! Especially poignant because Jerry had his own run at politics.

Does Molenir ever get it right? Now he will argue that he is correct and nothing was illegal or wrong or whatever.

He was resigned. He tendered his firing.
I heard we will need a lot more troops to have a successful counter-insurgency. I heard numbers as high as 150 thousand troops.

I'll bet "gross negligence or willful misconduct" will be what is hammered out in court and then we'll see if Anadarko Petroleum Corp and Mitsui and Co Ltd have to pony up for this blunder too. 25% is a huge stake for Anadarko to get off scott free.
Sounds improbable if not impossible. I would hate to think of this leak going on into the autumn. I have to admit that it is my ignorance that makes it seem impossible but I have just lost all hope of recovering the seashore and wetlands.
The "$105 million paid out so far to 32,000 claimants" represents only 5.25% of the $2 billion BP has spent so far. I hope the $20 billion fund is only used for claims. Hopefully, they are spending other money for containment, sealing off the well and even the majority of the clean-up costs are not taken out of the escrow fund. I do realize that the article said the $2 billion did not come out of the escrow fund.

I criticized Egypt many posts ago; try to keep up. Egypt is open now; try to keep up. Egypt was guarding their border, Israel guards their border and Palestinian land. Try to keep up.

Everyone knows the trickle of food and medicine the Palestinians receive is not enough to sustain life without hunger and people perishing from lack of proper medical care.

manfromamerica, I could not have made it more simple for you. NAVAL BLOCKADE OF PALESTINIAN LAND. The NAVAL BLOCKADE is NOT a shared border. Egypt is protecting a shared border. I do not fault Israel for protecting its shared border.
