“A system so corrupted, backwards and outrageous that will get you far more time in prison for stealing a pair of socks from the local depato than for killing your own child.”

There is a them and us in Japan and even when the “us” is both Japanese and foreign and we are all disgusted we still come up against those that are “them”. It isn’t the Japanese as a people, but the people that are in control and always have been. The same families generation after generation that bring shame on Japan. Possibly you are right and the system will allow these two to walk away from the evil they have shared in, I hope you are wrong, but fear you are right. Emotionally I am just flattened by this one and yes, as you said, “Why waste time, right?”

A little earlier I tried a little test to see what would happen, I did not insult the US I simply made a comparison which is the post that you read and have responded to, and as you can see it isn’t there any more. Had I said the same things about Japan, perhaps being seen as negative, that post would still be there, insulting anything Japanese it seems is acceptable. In truth I think most young people are a little silly simply because they are young, they will grow out of it, but so long as that silliness is harmless I really don’t care, as you say cheerleaders enjoy what they do and it does act as a form of exercise. As a man am I really going to complain about pretty girls in short skirts?

“The three had begun living together since last July. The mother worked at night and told police she was unaware of what was going on in her absence.”

She comes home from work in the morning to a battered bloody baby and was unaware of what was going on? I haven’t the words to describe my feelings for these two, well I have but I’m tired of being deleted.

“Making love is the answer to a good night sleep every time.”

It doesn’t have to be love, it can be simple rampant sex too.

Failing that you could always try 4 Temazepan with a very large glass of whisky. Granted sleep may not then be your problem, so can we have an extra question about what you find helps you wake up in the morning?

Let’s get some details in place taken solely from this none news story.

“in east Jerusalem—the section of the holy city claimed by the Palestinians.”

It is also claimed by Israel and occupied by Israel (nine tenths of the law).

“Israel captured east Jerusalem from Jordan in 1967”

I don’t hear Jordan making any noise about this.

“The Palestinian officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were discussing a sensitive diplomatic matter.”

In other words Palestinians making up any story they want because when have they ever worried about “sensitive diplomatic matters”?

“On Sunday, Israel said it was imposing a closure on the West Bank as a security measure for the duration of the weeklong Passover holiday. The routine measure, which was to begin at midnight, bars almost all Palestinians from entering Israel.”

This happens every year which is why it is called a “routine measure”. So adding it on to the end of this nothing to say story is bait to the gullible.

YGHome at 06:35 PM JST - 27th March “Why not just let the internal processes within North Korea determine the political system there, without external interference?”

When NK stay within the asylum and leave the rest of the world in peace then maybe your dear leader can also be left in peace, though it would also be nice if he spent a little of his ill-gotten gains on feeding the people of NK. While we are talking may I ask if the YG in your name stands for “Yanks Go”, I’m just making a logical guess so I could be very wrong and if so please don’t take any offence at my guess because none is intended, I’m just curious.

“North Korea has historically "rattled their sabres"

I do in general terms agree with you, but I would ask you to keep at the back of your mind that it was NK that started the war in 1950 and they very nearly won it too, and they know that. It might be unwise to underestimate a madman, stay calm yes, don’t worry, yes, but never for a moment trust them not to do what they say the might.

Mexico is almost at critical mass and it is time that the US was brought in to help as Heylars says. It is in the interests of the US to be involved because it is only a matter of time before they see this happening north of the border. The difficulty will be convincing both the Mexican government they need help and the American people that this is a situation important enough to warrant the loss of American police and soldiers, because there would be losses. But something has got to be done to bring this insanity to an end before the country fragments and we have warlords ruling their own little areas. I’m not sure how the legalisation of drugs is going to work, how can soft drug legalisation be separated from hard drugs? The dealers are very often the same people and the serious money has always been with the serious drug so partial legalisation isn’t going to cut off the big money incentive to keep dealing, and killing. As for controlling gun sales in the US, that’s a none starter, once that is tried the US gun lobby wakes up and nothing gets done, they are only interested in protecting their own and care nothing about what is happening in Mexico.

If human flesh ever did become morally acceptable as a food it would be banned the next day as being unfit for human consumption given the high levels of toxins we contain. Some might reason that cows are killed in a more humane way than these dolphins but cows are given so many drugs to keep them healthy and fat that they are not the best thing to be putting into our stomachs because we end up the with the residue of “healthy farming”. So, JT posters, you can all feel safe in the knowledge that you would be illegal to eat.

This is the beginning; wait until Turkey lies its way into the Euro zone. Then there are all the seriously suspect East European countries that are now semi in the zone. The EU has over burdened itself with some nasty dead ducks. Greece should be reminded that horses are shot when they become useless.

Panettiere might well be hot stuff to teenage American boys but in Taiji she is just another foreigner making trouble so why should anybody take any time out to discuss anything with her? Besides does she speak Japanese or does she expect the mayor to speak American? The reason for her being there is not the issue, it’s the very fact that she believed she could just arrive in another country and be greeted as a special person when it fact she is of no consequence at all to these people. She is a 20 year old actress in some US TV programme. She might be the centre of her own little universe but beyond that somebody needs to remind her she isn’t at all special.

A nice fun little story, something we could all do with reading more of, but let us not miss the chance to delve into the underbelly of what could simply bring a gentle smile to our faces. Let us examine where the profit goes, let us seek out those greedy monsters that lurk behind everything ever ready to snatch the last yen out of innocent peoples pockets. We must always be on our guard and never let what looks so innocent pass without finding the evil design behind it.

Get real people, it is a sale of lost property with umbrellas going for 30yen! It probably costs that much to actually sell the things. Do you really believe the Hanshin floor space, electricity and staff are there for free? What sometimes frightens me is that my wife and walk the same streets as such paranoids.

“the only viable solution, and the only solution the United States should promote, is a non-racist democratic state in the whole of historic Palestine in which Muslims, Jews, and Christians are all allowed to live as equals under the law”

I don’t think anybody likes people that shout so you will forgive me for turning your quote into normal type rather than that dramatic bold type.

You being an expert on these things will know that the area you are talking about also includes what was once known as Transjordan, Jordan today. Are you therefore suggesting that Jordan join in with this idea of yours making one big happy friendly country where all the happy people will be so nice to each other? If you really knew what you were talking about and were honest enough to say it you would say that you want an Arab country totally free of Jews, because what you are suggesting would result in mass murder, not something that you would mind given that the victims would be Jews. What you fail to mention to the naïve on this site is that there has never been an independent country called Palestine so there really isn’t such a thing as “historic Palestine”. Palestine was the Dual British mandate, half control under UN administration the other half totally control by the British. Who having finished off the Turkish control of the whole area drew the lines that we today now see as frontiers.

However what we reading about here in this particular story is that a private individual who owns an old hotel has decided to demolish it and build apartments. This is not an Israeli government policy decision it is a private act and maybe you dislike what he is doing, but you cannot hold the Israeli government responsible for it.

By the way, the original UN decision on the patrician of this area left Jerusalem an international city not an Arab city or a Jewish city. The fact that the Palestinians want it for their capital has no more validity than Israel wanting it for their capital. It is not and never has been Palestine’s capital city and at the moment they are only saying that they want it knowing full well they have no chance of ever getting it, very probably as a way of blocking any possible peace agreement. We must all try very hard to remember that the Palestinians are not innocent children and they do have their own not always very nice agenda. Being gullible in the face of Arab propaganda does not give anybodies augments any credibility.

Agree with you 100%. If “they” filter out the world surely the world has the right to filter them out. No same person agrees with child pornography but using it as a means of blocking many other sires that are objected to is the thin end of the wedge. Fine go for what is genuinely wrong, not total control.

“Also, the verb "to smoke" will obviously need to replaced - with what though?”

To suck which follows through to make the people that use this stupid thing “suckers” rather than “smokers”. If it quacks like a duck, walks like a duck and lays duck eggs then it is a duck. All be it a plastic duck. Can you imagine how stupid a person would have to be to use one of these things? If you smoke you smoke and if you don’t smoke you don’t smoke but trying to find some middle ground that is made from a plastic tube is total nonsense. This stupidity so p..ses me off than I need a cigarette, it’s just a shame I haven’t a non-smoker around to blow smoke on.

“Does the world REALLY want China to go free market - undercutting mega-companies such as Motorola, Cisco, Ford, etc? China's economy has the power to destroy any commercial firm they target.”

All the world needs do is introduce quality control and nothing coming out of China will be bought anywhere. Mass production alone is nothing, people still like the idea of a product that lasts for more than a week or two. Like many people today I read the labels, even the ones that sellers try to hide and if it says “made in China” I simply do not buy.

I think he saying that after years of very down to earth training a new doctor is asked to make a pledge that involves long (and almost) forgotten gods. I might be wrong but there is most certainly something of a contradiction here and maybe you would have to be a little mad to accept this pledge as having any value at all.

As for the killings, it says that the doctor has a history of mental illness and that he is former doctor. He could have been a perfectly well doctor that went strange after he became a doctor, which I think might just be a little more likely. What I don’t understand is this going into schools to kill children, yes I know it has happened in the west but no where near as often as it seems to in China. With the one child policy I though Chinese children were treated as being a bit special.
