I am disgusted by this arrogant attitude we keep seeing that the US is more powerful than Japan. When it comes to financial power they are not. Military power yes, but then the reasoning would be that if I have a big stick you should bow so low, if I have a knife you should bow lower, if I have a gun you should bow even lower still. That kind of power is all that the US has today.
As for them being equals, no they are not, the emperor is there for life and has been there a long time, Obama is there for at most 8 years and then he is back to being a nobody, how does that rate as being equal?
The above is in answer to above posts, as for the question JT asked, yes of course Obama should have bowed, it is no more than a handshake would be in any western country. And how low? Well Obama is a tall man by comparison to the emperor so any bow he made would look low. I think what Obama did was show respect to an old man that has been the head of his country for a long time, that was a nice gesture and as much as I think Obama a waste of space I have to respect what he did here.

I have always thought golf a silly game and I’m glad to see I’m not the only one. This is so stupid yet funny at the same time. This “garment” on a nice looking girl is one thing, but I wonder what it is going to look like on a fatty?

“There are aliens, but unfortunately for the Catholic Church, they're all Protestants.”
Simple Catholic solution to this, burn the lot of them.

I can well imagine the need 2000 years ago for something to frighten the simple minded into obeying the law, a god, any god will do, maybe even a small team of gods. What I can never reconcile myself to is the idea that we still have these deluded people that believe in such things. We make life for our children simple and fun with tales about the tooth fairy and Santa Claus and such nonsense, but we would be seriously worried about our children if they continued to believe such nonsense when they got older. Is the human race not old enough to finally put away childish things?
Of all the organisations in the world the Catholic Church is least trust worthy of all, anything it has to say must been seen in the context of its history and its history is one of the cruellest and bloodiest.

So what you are saying is that films made by America about WW2 are fiction for fun and shouldn’t been seen as historically correct. I find that rather sad given that there must be thousands of exceptional true stories to be told about America’s part in that war. Inglorious bastards isn’t of course one of them.

Poor Melanie Laurent, looks like they had to drag her out of her hospital bed to do this photo shoot.
What is it with Americans needing to re-write history? They didn’t do all that bad in WW2, so why reinvent their part in it? I was recently given (I would never have bought it) a copy of U571 in which a gang of Americans capture an enigma machine from a German u-boat. Sorry people but it never happened, it was the Brits that did it without any help from the US. I just can’t imagine that this nonsense is going to be any better, so unless I’m given a copy I will not be wasting money on some childish fantasy.

Just curious, but are we to take it that you would advocate Iran having nuclear weapons, or are you just so anti American that that part of the reasoning was left out?
What got me about this visit is that they are only going to be in the country for 3 days. Now just how much can they get to see of Iran in 3 days. They are not inspectors they are tourist. Tourists with guilds.

”Israel captured the compound from Jordan in the 1967 Mideast War”
If we must have a little history lesson might it not be a good idea to get it right? Jordan (Transjorden at the time) captured the compound from the Palestinians in the 1948 war. As part of the partition agreement the British handed it over to Palestine. Part of the reason we get so many anti Israeli post here is because many of the posters only know what newspapers tell them and the above twisted history is mild by comparison to much else I have seen.

I´m not sure if this thread is still live but if so then thank you both for your comments. Plus you do both realise that we all nearly agree? Skip, I am near enough in exactly the same position as you and as such know perfectly well where I would stand with the BNP. The real harm that has been done in the UK has been done by weak government pandering to those that make the loudest noise. Yes that is the pointing the finger at Muslims in this case. They have created ghettos, they have made segregation a part of their lives yet they have also impinged on the lives of the indigenous people by making demands that no host country should have ever tolerated. Immigration in and of itself is not a bad thing, but in the case of Britain everything has got out of balance. It is a small over crowded island, immigrants have been pandered to as part of a political ideology and the indigenous population have been pushed to the back.
The BNP is a small monster that will need a lot of feeding before it gets really dangerous, sadly the UK government is feeding it with the discontent that is being generated by a myopic view of what they see is right. The Labour party is not listening to the voters and as such those voters are being driven into the arms of who they believe is listening to them, the BNP. But the BNP today is not the BNP that the British will have to live under should that monster ever get into power. Then the horror of the 1930/40s Germany will be visited on the UK.
In the meantime the Muslims in Britain have given the BNP more voters than any TV programme could ever do. In Germany the Jews were made the scapegoat of the Nazi party, in Britain the Muslims are doing the job on themselves without any help from the BNP.

I would reason that having to listen to any of the above mentioned even at infrequent intervals and low volume as being torture. Not that I’m feeling any great pangs of sympathy for the Gitmo crazies.

Sabiwabi,
In this instance you really do seem to know next to nothing about the subject. Griffin would hate you being in the UK just as he would any none white. The fact that he might (might) agree with some of your strange ideas does not make him your friend. Trust me, he would hate you as much as he does hate me.
You really should not believe what the BNP say about the BNP, they are trying to get votes on what they believe are the average Britain’s fears. At the moment the issues in the UK are cantered around immigration and Muslim immigration in particular, the BNP see this as a way of winning votes so will say whatever they believe will win them votes, you don’t have a vote so you don’t count.
The real danger and this could be said about any political party, is that some elements of what is said have a truth, Muslims in Britain are generating bad feeling among the indigenous population, the population is getting too high for such a small island and there is always the background of the economic crises that adds fuel to the reasoning that immigration is adding to unemployment. So there are truths to be found in what the BNP have to say, but they are there ONLY to trap the gullible.
If the BNP were ever to get into power in the UK they would change laws so that being the “wrong” colour would mean being ejected from the country. And it would not matter if a person was second, third or forth generation British. It would be legal because the (BNP) government says it is legal. But that would not mean that it was right morally. Hitler did much the same thing in Germany when he made it impossible for Jews to live and work in Germany.
Having said all that it does need to be pointed out that there are no real political parties in Britain to meet the real needs of the British people, the stupidity of the major parties have created a move to the extreme right because there is nothing in between.
My family is made up of five ethnic groups by blood and two more by marriage we stand no chance in Griffin’s Britain even though most of the family know no other “home” country. However, we are not the extreme left or extreme right and we would all want free speech in any and all countries. Even if that meant listening to both you and Griffin, neither of whom we could possibly agree with.
The British need to be very careful about what they ask for, they may get far more than they bargained for.

Maybe there is a conspiracy to rid the world of bone headed sports fans and this is the reason the Olympics are to be in Rio and the world cup in South Africa. I admit that there are possibly more dangerous places to hold these two sports fests but if you also want good news coverage of the carnage these are probably best in the they have good access for the worlds media. Maybe that’s it , a new televised blood sport for the 21st century. I think this time round I might be watching the Olympics, this time there might actually be something to watch.
Sport is a game, not a religion.

"Surprise confirmation of a hidden underground development site"? Ah yes, more AP propaganda. The facility was not yet completed, and Iran disclosed it long before it was required to do so according to the NPT rules. If anyone has a secret nuclear weapons program it is Israel, why no mention of this?”
Sabiwabi, there is nothing secret about Israel’s nuclear weapons, if there was then you wouldn’t know about them, would you? You may not like being told this but the real difference between Israel and Iran having nuclear weapons is that Israel have had such weapons for quite some time as defensive weapons while no sane person trusts Iran to have such a weapon and not use them. I will simplify this for you, normal people really don’t mind a sane man having a gun for self defence, but they are really reluctant to have a raving crazy person having a gun. Now the time for you to start your rambling is when the US has finally built this big bomb AND sold it to Israel, then you might have something worth saying. But as yet the bomb hasn’t even been built for the US and nobody, other than you, has thought about Israel getting it. Taking a situation and twisting it with your paranoia is one thing you are good at, but seeing into the future is not one of your strong points. Yes, I do admit that you have strong points, I will reframe from saying what they are otherwise JT will delete me again.

“Every year since 1901 the Nobel Prize has been awarded for achievements in physics, chemistry, physiology or medicine, literature and for peace.”
You are right but miss one interesting point, the peace prize is given by the Norwegians and all the rest are given by the Swedes and I have no idea why this is.
As for Cahvez saying Obama doesn’t deserve the prize that just means I will have to change my own opinion.
Obama does deserves the prize.
I also have no idea why about this either, except there is no way I will agree with anything Chavez says.

I think sometimes when we are looking to try and understand crimes like this, trying to fit them into the same world that we live in we have a tendency to lay the blame on some obvious target, a killers parents are sometimes that easy target when in truth they are just as much victims as the parents of those who have been murdered. I can imagine that this lady has been through her own hell these last years, she not only lost her son, but I should imagine there were not that many who would have been there to help. She committed no crime, but I am sure she paid as though she had.
