That thing IS creepy. Imagine opening up your front door to that during a lightning storm. I remember seeing that thing for the first time way back when and I couldn't understand what the big deal was about, still don't.

You don't have to be Japanese to get on mixi, there are plenty of gaijin on there. You just need an invitation from someone.
Anyway, there are worse crimes than this.

I think they could have posted a much better picture than that. PrinceskaNo1's comment is right, the hair is all wrong for this situation. I studied tea ceremony briefly and I thought I was going to go out of my mind and all the sitting 'seiza' style killed my legs. I run like the plague whenever some obasan askes me, "do you like Japanese tea? Please come to my tea ceremony group....(so you can be the token gaijin decoration)"

I think the water bottles are there to prevent them from 'marking' their territory. Once an area is marked with a lot of cat pi$$ it is impossible to get rid of the odor. Well, anyway...the guy is probably lonely and those stray cats were his family & friends. Of course that doesn't excuse stabbing his landlord.

I am glad to read that there are some safety conscious, open-minded parents out there using the so-called "demeaning" harness. Thank you for watching over your kids.

You know, growing up I was never into Mickey Mouse and the whole Disney thing. Since I've been living in Japan, I've developed an almost Pavlov dog-like reaction consisting of nausea, anger, urge to scream/pull out hair and other rage behavior whenever I see the mouse ears symbol and anything else having to do with Disney---especially when it is something belonging to a fully grown adult, well in their 30s or 40s. Same goes for the Pooh bear. Sanrio is evil too.

I like the police station comment--lol!! While we are on the subject, will someone please tell me why Japanese women sound like a whining baby when they do the dirty deed? Jeez, put the mute button on please.

I don't know why people are so opposed to the kid leash. I mean, it's not an actual leash for pets, it is made with a halter/jacket type thing for the kid to wear. It's just a safety measure---like a seat belt in a car. Now, are seat belts demeaning? Of anything it gives the tyke some room to walk independently but prevents him/her from running away and falling into a ditch or whatever.

I understand that 2 yr. olds are like lightening. That is why I am in full support of those controversial springy leashes they have for kids. Sorry folks, but if you're going to go shopping with your kids and perusing books stores, strap your kiddo in a halter and hold on to that leash for heavenssakes!

I wonder how the driver is feeling now...? I am envisioning a Far Side character at the police station with a bubble over his head reading: "damn that felt good. reeeealll good."

Well, whatever, yes they do seem to be incompetent. Based the reports I read, of course.

Initially I think it is not good but sometimes necessary. Hitting head/face is not good but smacking the hands or butt is pretty effective. You need to put fear into kids. That is the probably with kids today---no respect, no fear.
