The problem is calling it "Lolita" fashion. Since Japanese aren't exactly known of their "in your face" attitude, this name is propably just the result of poor marketing research. Call it Rokokoo fashion (which it actually is) and it would be instant hit at least in France.

Last year Dr Phil Jones of the IPCC admitted to the BBC that there had not been any global warming in 15 years, now 16 years, despite ever-increasing amounts of co2 in the atmosphere.

He didn't say such a thing. Would you actually read your sources before posting them? The rest of you post isn't much better, I agree that there is good reason to debate about global warming, but busybodies like you make all sceptics look morons.

At first you do the cherry picking and accuse IPCC the same. Then you would prefer satellite measurements, but since you don't trust climate models, those measurements would be meaningless.

By the way even sceptics admit that there is global warming. The debade is about how much people affect to it.

I'm really amazed at the incriminating statements that many suspects make. I'm not really tuned in to the legal system here, but don't they have the right to keep their mouth shut? Or are they just too stupid to do so?

When you look statistics, the Japanese police is the best in the world. They solve more crimes than others using less time and less workforce. They get more confessions and don't get false confessions and that's why they can leak the incriminating statements to the press before trial.

They are not only the best, but they are also very modest. Other countries have asked to make independend studies, how such results can be achieved, but the Japanese police force don't want to be the role model of modern justice system, so they have denied such privilege.

I never thought I would see the day when a pedophile who abducts a child had a support group.

So you won't be joining nambla.org anytime soon?

Two reactors in Finland would have meltdowns after 60 minutes if they loss mains power.

Well no. Olkiluoto 1 and 2 would have core meltdowns if they would loss main power and gas and diesel power backups. The propability for this is 0.001%. Even if that would happen, it wouldn't be such a big deal, because after Tsernobyl the old reactor halls have been reinforced to cope core meltdown. It took 15 years to build improvements and the work finished 2003. There aren't such a improvements elsewhere in the world.

Ironically, the EU is precisely NOT complaining to muslim states about the stoning of women, or about hanging homosexuals (the law in Iran), or about Pakistans infamous law against slandering islam, which is also punished by death. Nope, they are busy looking the other way and diligently respectin the right of Shariah countries to kill as many innocent victims as they like. Instead, they complain about Japan, which has the audacity to have the death penalty for particularly violent murder only.

Some paragons of moral standards in the EU.... not.

    Google disagree with you.

While the research of man made global warming is far from perfect, it shows without the doupt (spectroscopy) that man actually have the significant impact on climate. It isn't even worth of debate, because if we are wrong about that, we are wrong about everything else too. What we don't know is how much feedback loops (water being the most remarkable) and solar radiation impacts in our atmosphere. It isn't the reason to give up and stop researching, because we have to know how we could prepare to our warmer, energy poor future. Without preparations we might get to the point where lots of people would have starvation and western countries aren't safe in this worst case scenario.

The EU Democratic parliament said no, but the EU Commission has vowed to carry on anyway. That is the reality of the EU today, the Parliament is just for show, the Commission is pulling all the strings.

BS. Commission will carry on to create different kind of piracy act, but this is gone for good. Commission will introduce new law acts to the parliament and parliament's approval is always needed. Commission will carry on, because some kind of law is needed for online piracy. The other thing is if parliament really represents the will of the people, because people have protested against their own countries main parties with voting quite "interesting" parties to the parliament. This is good example of that. The majority of European countries have signed ACTA, but then it got rejected in the parliament with 478 to 39 vote.

In a third, a man wearing a helmet marked “U.S.” in English is on his knees begging for mercy as he is pummeled on the head with a stick.

I'll guess they don't teach Geneva conventions in the kindergarden:-) To be fair the way the western nations try to find loopholes in it in the first opportunity, but at least they pretend to recognize it.

What is the big fuss about, this is not like banning free speech or monitoring you for that. You only have to worry if you are doing illegal downloads and stealing what is not yours.

I think JT should ban anyone here giving advice on how to commit crimes and avoid detection,.low morals indeed.

I think you you answered your own question. If we are going to criticise copyright laws, we have to make examples and to be allowed to do that, we have to speak freely about these "crimes".

I actually had to think if it is morally right to encourage people to search copyrighted material from Youtube, but it had to be done to make my point clear. Of course I didn't know that Japan already have censored version of Youtube.

    @Zichi

I think recently in Britain, a law was introduced requiring IP's to block sites like Pirate Bay.

Piratebay block doesn't help, because people just make mirror sites. In the Uk it took almost entire day, before first mirrors were up.

Go after SONY, APPLE, PANASONIC, TOSHIBA and all makers because they allow legitimate users then to move their CD contents into their portable music player.

Won't happen. There is a double standard here. If you go to Youtube and make a search "crank 2 full movie", you could watch the entire movie in Youtube without paying anything, because Youtube is too big to bust, despite it is registered in the US. They rather punish little people. This law is made to protect the big corporations, not to punish them.

Back in Europe they were still announcing that diesel was the new clean energy, creating less CO2.

And they still hope it is. If we can produce diesel from algae (or other biomass), it can easily replace our dependance of oil. We could easily make it from coal, but that wouldn't be "green".

As I don't understand the whaling industry and I would like to see the killing stopped but I don't understand why japan is the victim of anti-whaling yet Iceland, Norway, Denmark where reported to have killed more whales in 2009 than Japan.

My question is whats the difference?

It is the cultural difference. I try to explain it, despite I know that mods are against the broader conversation.

There is much debate about whale hunting in Norway and Iceland, but not unofficial protests, because these are very rare in the northern Europe. We have to remember that Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Norway and Iceland have very close ties for 50 years. The residents of these countries haven't need a passport since 1954 and they have common social welfare since 1955. Therefore there have been lots of marriages between the residents of these countries.

In the case of possibly WW3 thing would have been more complex, because Finland would have been fought with the Soviet union and Denmark, Iceland and Norway with the NATO. But these countries were only enemies by the letter, not by the spirit. That's why there aren't large protests about whale hunting despite Sweden and Finland are against it.

Norway and Iceland are like Japan and fight against the IWC while Denmark only uses the quotas it officially gets from the IWC.

How is it dreaded Thomas? It has been getting a lot of positive feedback, more positive then negative feedback.

Where? When? I haven't seen a single positive feedback yet. The best feedback is lukewarm.

I probably buy Windows 8 phone in the future, so I'll be using this and probably even like it -IN MY PHONE-. In the desktop I want to choose my own programs and multitask them elegantly. I don't remember that anybody requested windows 1.0 GUI back.
