The U.S. dollar is toxic; the Nipponese don't want to be lending any more money to the U.S. until they straighten out their own country first.
The U.S. can't live off borrowing from the Chinese and the Japanese forever. Would the Americans rather jump off a 30-foot balcony now or a 500-foot one later? It appears, under Obama, to be "later".
