DeepAir65 -- agree. Citibank is in he FSA's radar screen, so they get publicly rebuked for every little problem. Makes the public happy I guess.

Please, this country is a joke when it comes to government fiscal policy. Just two days ago they announced that it will be at least the early 2020's before they stop adding to the public debt every year, and they are already at 168% of GDP. Ratings agencies are already talking about lowering their rating, which will just make their borrowing costs go up even more. And it is estimated that pensioners will only receive an average of 38% of their pre-retirement wages -- the second lowest of 30 major countries. Years of simply borrowing/spending to pave more roads, rather than bite the bullet and face reality, has caught up with Japan. And the sheep who voted for the LDP for the past 50 years are going to get hit hard.

junkface -- you need to get out more often, or simply expand your horizons. Vodka and Coke is a standard cocktail in many places, like in many bars in NY for example. Absolut & Coke is one of my standard drinks.

norirad21 -- you must not live in Japan. A 31 year-old "ex-gravure idol and talento" hardly qualifies as a "woman" by most accepted definitions, except possibly age. My guess is she probably has the maturity of about a 17 year-old. Which is potentially why she got into this predicament.

OK, so Japan can come up with an endless string of good-looking celebs who have nothing at all to do with the movie. So what, and why is it news? Just another day and another fake bride -- welcome to Japan.

Unfortunately to many people, Islam appears to stand for nothing more than jihads and voting fraud. These images coming out of Iran are very disturbing in that they look a lot like China during the Tianamen uprising. But, China is a communist country, so you expect the worst from them. For a supposedly "relgious" country -- an Islamic republic -- to be acting in this manner is very troubling.

My God, she is clearly a complete and utter bubble head. Great spokesperson for a medicine. They should have hired her dog.

yabits -- completely agree. The supporters of Mousavi definitely liken him to an Iranian version of Obama, and much of his support comes from the same groups as did Obama's, namely younger voters and better-educated ones. While Ahmadinjad gets much of his from lower-income, rural areas, just like McCain. And there is no question that Obama's victory has emboldened these folks. The latest news is that Mousavi has rejected the recount, as it is not the real issue. The real issue is that 53 million ballots were printed, but only like 39 million counted. A recount of the 39 million won't answer what happened to the missing 14 million.

Do you think that sitting on a park bench and looking forelorn was on their "bucket list"?

mindovermatter -- well said. But at least things are consistent here. Rich guys from Waseda commit gang rape and get off with suspended sentences, and cute girls don't even get arrested. The moral being that it does not matter what you did, it just matters who you are.

Wow, what a "hunk". I can see why the J-girls are nuts about him.

Is her dress made out of aluminum foil? Maybe that is why it won't stay up. In my experience, aluminum foil does not stick well to plastic.

flaterther -- agree. She would definitely not pass the "swimming pool test", as her face would wash off in the pool. What happened to natural Japanese beauty?

No way you'd catch me eating food that a bunch of fetish freaks had been messing with with their bare hands. The morality of this doesn't bother me one bit. But the lack of hygene sure does.

Good for Japan. But, could all the J-fans in the bars possibly learn some new cheers other than "Nippon, bang-bang-bang, Nippon, bang-bang-bang, Nippon..." ad nauseaum, before the 2010 tournament? It makes watching the games almost unbearable.

Another classic Japanese phrase -- "spontaneous marriage" -- like "groping" and "comfort women", to put a nice face on a dirty little secret. Spontaneous marriage is nothing more than apparently irresponsible celebs getting the lady pregnant and then having to tie the knot. Hardly a trend that should be imitated. Why not just use the English phrase that already exists -- "shotgun marriage"?

A speech of a true statesman. Welcome change from simply the ideological crap spewing from Bush for eight years -- his second inaugeral address for example.

pathat -- "find better looking Japanese women any old day"? Possibly true, but that is the problem. They may look good, but, the vast majority are "all show and no go". While I'll bet Miss Bloodgood is not.

soldave -- of course it is. But that's the point. Unless it is "endorsed" by a J-celeb, people here won't go see it. How juvenile is that?

Bgood41 -- "sugar to the ignorence addict". Clever quote. Who'd you borrow it from? Someone on Fox News is my guess. But, even so, I'd take that over the "heroin for the simple-minded ideologues" that Bush's words represented for 8 long years. Can't your grasp the fact that all the examples you gave -- Pakistan, Somalia, Jerusalem, etc. -- are all complex problems? And a one-size fits all foreign policy like Bush had, principally because he did not like complexities, is not the answer. But, I'm game, please give me a single example of a world hot-spot that Bush left in better shape than when he found it.
