Not sure if we live in the same Japan. Most of my friends consider tuna too expensive and only buy it on special occasions.

Show me proof/links/scientific proof as to japanese eating tuna daily. Your post was rubbish.

I thought I pre-empted this kind of emotional outburst with my follow-up post at 12.28. What a waste of time some people are. Read the article again and do your own research thanks.

Yes, the Japanese do eat tuna daily.

No, I didn't mean everybody eats it every day. But daily demand is rampant and Japan is evil.

So you say Japan consumes 80~85% of the worlds tuna I want to see proof of that.

    Here you go.

Around 80 to 85% of bluefin tuna caught in the Mediterranean is exported to Japan,” said Jean-Marc Fromentin, a leading worldwide expert on the subject at the French Research Institute for Exploitation of the Sea (IFREMER).

    As for this

Japan consumes 80~85% rest of the world which outnumber it by a factor of X only 15~20%.

I can't really work out what you're trying to put together in that sentence.

Yes, the Japanese do eat tuna daily.

Imagine drug dealers blaming the entire drug problem on the "users" because without their demand they wouldn't be in the drug business.

Nah, no good. Don't try to distract by mentioning something like illicit drugs.

So you're saying it's the fault of the fisheries? I don't think they're going out catching them for fun. They are catering to demand. Of which Japan still accounts for 80 to 85 percent. So yes the Japanese are to be blamed if there is any blaming to be done, and I will. Of course the Japanese media and Japan's defenders will look for somewhere else, anywhere else, to blame, when all these other places still account for less than 20 percent of demand.

Japan is raping the oceans but it's not their fault. It's those outside countries that love our food culture so much, aren't we great.

Here we go again, blame Japan for everything in life. As per usual.

Here we go again, defend Japan for anything in life. As per usual.

Just read this part again before you try to point the finger somewhere else, anywhere else, again.

Japan, however, remains the main consumer of bluefin tuna. “Around 80 to 85% of bluefin tuna caught in the Mediterranean is exported to Japan,” said Jean-Marc Fromentin, a leading worldwide expert on the subject at the French Research Institute for Exploitation of the Sea (IFREMER).

I agree, this photo is really beautiful but the Zeppelin block the view of the city.

    It's a bit rude really.

As for those who can't afford the ride (myself included, wipes eyes), I'm sure the operators are doing just fine without us. People with more money are paying for it. If no one was riding it they would lower the price a bit to pick up numbers.

Has anybody seen that show where somebody eats something and half a dozen people watch him/her eat it to see if it's oishii and it is and everyone's astonished and then they all start shouting and then that woman says "Goo" and everyone falls about laughing?

Why it's on right now. On all of the channels. Again.

It's easy to entertain a bunch of 12 year olds.

Some of them do annoy me, but I'm not really qualified to comment since I understand less than a third of what they say in many of the variety shows. Slow down you're talking too fast.

    25,000 fans in Matsuyama

More likely 25,000 Matsuyama residents with nothing else to do.

That's why they ask citizens to use bathwater instead of fresh water just like they recommend filling your washing machine with the same. But I guess if you choose not to listen...

Hands up number of citizens, Japanese or otherwise, who waited for their used bathwater to cool down and then cooled it in the fridge so that it may have any cooling effect outside on the dirty pavement? And hands up the number of citizens that brought their dirty used bathwater to work and splashed their germs all over the pavement on the street? What a quaint but dirty custom.

As for those buying the rainwater claptrap, well that's a nice thing to say in front of the cameras isn't it? Fits in nicely with the whole eco thing. But what about the tens of thousands of shop owners splashing water on the dirty pavement and thus mud all over the place? Using rainwater? Nope. Water straight from the kitchen tap? Yep. Eco? It's just so hot today.

Yeah that's what happens when you pave over everything with concrete. Grass does wonders for lower temperatures and quality of life. But Japan doesn't like grass. It likes grey, and gravel playgrounds so kids end with up with pretty scars on their legs. Such a poor country.

Saw on tv some guy measured the temperature at one place. Volumes of water on the street and how far did the mercury drop? One degree. One.

Uchimizu is nothing more than a blatant disregard for water conservation.

I read the same thing, she didn't at the time see it or know it was a bear & just felt something pushing her through the ten, so hit it & then kicked it. Or could this a totally different story, it sounds like one. Or did someone feel like adding a little colour

It's the same story with most of the facts having been conveyed in a proper manner, but with some coloring and preservatives added just for fun. JT should wake up to the fact that some of its audience is not living in an English bubble, and try to report more accurately for those who do.

Thought this was an English forum.

It is. But sometimes it also helps to get the facts straight. Where I chose to highlight this is a bit frivilous, but such misreporting is all over the place.
