Isn't 11 three star restaurants more than last year? It seems like michelin really wants to sell their guidebooks in Japan.

combini I think you are referring to the common law concept. Under the Civil Code of Japan knowledge of the reward is not required. Pls see article 529 at this link: http://www.japaneselawtranslation.go.jp/law/detail_main?id=1&vm=&re=

I wonder what spooked him to leave the dorm without his stuff? Or, maybe, he left this stuff to create a false trail? In any event, with the flury of recent news it seems like the ring is closing tighter (I hope).

Cosmetic surgery is expensive. I wonder where he got the cash? Maybe question his parents? In any event there should be some "paper" trail (e.g., furikomi) that even the J-satsu could follow. I hope they get him and soon.

Another tragedy of the J-justice system is that even if they can find the killer of that little girl there is nothing it can do to him/her because of the statute of limitation for murder in Japan.

Thanks for admitting to the premeditation. So, this is attempted murder. I am not sure what that is worth in the J family court system but I hope these kids are locked up…

I think that, unfortunately, the voting rights will only be given to the zainichi PR similar, coversely, to their exclusion from fingerprinting while other PR are subjected to this indignity. According to the article, Hatoyama is going to korea to discuss the matter of voting rights. That is very telling.

the definition of spouse does not include a “wife or husband by reason of any marriage ceremony..."

The quoted portion of the US Immigration & Nationality Act is not applicable. This couple married under J law. No ceremony is required.
