WilliB - I was mostly pointing out some very curious parallels between Islamic Fascists and some some of their critics

woundedsamurai1 - Those damn Americans! They kept OBL alive for almost 10 years, and just when he could have shed light on who killed Jimmy Hoffa, they kill him!

Serrano - Like I said, the Japanese summer and its humidity is a different animal, but when it cools down and I have a choice, its a long sleeved shirt rolled up. If you think the junior high school look is cooler, well, have at it. (Do I also have to add the hahaha or LOL to show my disapproval? Is that a rule now? I just can't keep up with you teens these days) herefornow - I agree that salarymen here in their $150 suits could care less about being fashionable, I wasnt talking about them although it's possible for them to look better given the chance.

Forget about tax money. This scumbag is obviously having his pockets filled with kickbacks. Of course, the Japanese populace will ignore one just one more politician raping them and vote for him again in the next election.

And what's up with the rolled up long sleeves? The short sleeves look so much neater than the rolled up long sleeves. If I was in charge, I'd make it illegal to roll up long sleeves. Good grief, if you're going to wear long sleeves, wear 'em properly and button the cuffs!

Serrano - Although Japanese summers are a bit hot to wear long sleeves rolled up, it's a much more distinguished and masculine look than short sleeved dress shirts. Guys wearing these look just a few years removed from junior high school

Tasker- dunno what our chances are against Tonga, but I'll settle for a win over Japan.

steve@CPFC - Interesting theory. Personally, I can see where Kevin Lee Brooke is coming from too. I see the Islamic terrorists as largely unhappy with their own failed lives in a once powerful, but now hopelessly decaying country. I see their treatment of women as a symptom of their unhappiness. You know, keep the womenfolk in line through threats and beatings. Refusing to let them out of the kitchen and have a career. The knocker is that they're just so jealous of the U.S. For these reasons alone, I know 9/11 was not a conspiracy.

ExportExpert - I was playing Devil's Advocate. Your first post suggested you had no problem being referred to as "gaijin" at any time

It doesnt bother me at all , as i am a person from outside japan which is what it means Gai = outside jin = person

ExportExpert - I think we're all agreed on that. But what if the person referring to you as "gaijin" looks at you like you're something they've just scraped off their shoe?

As far as this 50 year old teacher not realizing the girl was as young as she was? Utter BS. A 15 year old girl with make-up on still looks 15.

I would take the train back home and basically the train was full of high school students and I would inevitably hear the "sugoi's and kakkoii's" come up and once in awhile one group of kids would push one of their friends over and try to speak english to me... kinda interesting at first but after awhile just tiresome so once the headphones went on, peace with led zepplin.

Malfupete - Before your gaijin ego gets too inflated 1. I've seen the butt-ugliest gaijin be described as Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt etc. just because they are white. 2. Zep is ok for about 5 minutes but they are the Barry Manilows of rock music.

NetNinja- while it's true that Russian air travel is terrible, your explanation of that video is very misleading. There were no screams and the pilot didn't "attempt" to take off. He DID take off. Successfully and with no incident from the airport in Hong Kong. With clearance from Hong Kong traffic controllers.

I can't believe they will actually build this thing, but it's a sad indication of how the Japanese gov't wants to sweep the ongoing nuclear crisis under the rug. (and you can imagine the co. has probably been offered a big, fat tax break if they do)

A full 67% of respondants give an unequivocal "NO". Even on the only forum (internet) where cons. theorists dare spread their nonsense, they are vastly outnumbered. For the 20% who voted "yes", and 10% teetering on the brink of insanity, it pretty much mirrors society, I'd say.

Dilbert14 - WTC#7 as you very well know, came down because of the massive impact and damage from the falling twin towers. Either that, or Bush and Cheney were around the corner with WileE Coyote and a DEMOLITION plunger. (Say, if all you conspiracy theorists are so much smarter than the overwhelming majority who can deal with tramatic events maturely, why can't you spell on a 6th grade level?)

But none of us will be around to see it.

another famous rallying cry of the paranoids out there. Deep down, they know they are wrong, so they proudly crow that they will be proven right - in the next life.

Gotta love the Tea Party. Redneck extremists or flat-out racists, they will make viewing American politics (which was already a circus) even more entertaining this year and next.
