Lexus is consistently at or near the top in customer satisfaction polls, and according to Wiki, is responsible for a disproportionate share of Toyota's earnings. Perhaps a few posters here are talking out of their a**es.

Oracle - Life sentence for a dog, eh? Should it also get conjugal visits and parole after 25 years?

shirokuma2011 - I wouldn't say it's a satiric take as much as acquiescence to their inevitable future as automatons

The article even says that the child was walking with his family. His parents supervision is implied.

SRowan - that implies that they were there when it happened. Another thing implied is that they failed to properly supervise a 2 year-old in such a potentially dangerous environment. Nothing new in a country where I see parents nonchalantly watch their children run around busy parking lots.

SRowan - hogwash. Common sense is to hold on to a 2 year-old's hand especially if there's a 15cm gap (and I'll bet it's even bigger). Absolute crap parenting here.

theres something very creepy yet sad about this. Showing off to the potential employers how willing they are to lose all individuality, no doubt.

The US has utterly failed to deal with gang violence. Only a brain dead conservative PM would resort to importing an American cop to deal with rioting which had little or nothing to do with the kind of gangs the US cop would be familiar with.

Tkoind - do a little research on Bratton and you'll see there are marked improvements in LA, Boston and NY. As for the usual response by certain Brits who hate anything US-related, it's YOUR country that looks like a post-apocalyptic S***hole right now (confirmed by many of my British friends here in Japan who are usually the only foreigners who DON'T want to return to their home country at some point).

His public speaking skills got his party elected from democratic elections before turning the government into a dictatorship.

J.Ventura - another Failing stab at history. Hitler's "speaking skills", as you put it, was to spew hatred to a very dissatisfied lowest common denominator and then let goons and thugs consolidate power. There's nothing skillful in blaming the helpless for all your woes. I just wish a few of the anonymous posters here would come out and say whats really on their mind; They admire Hitler. But of course they don't have the stones to be honest about it either on a message board and certainly not face to face in private conversation.

Oracle- as painful as it was to continue reading your last embarrassment, I did in fact make it to the part where you equate John Lennon and Jesse Jackson with Hitler. I then threw up in my mouth. I now have the sneaking suspicion you are not even sure who or what Hitler was at all.

And the hits just keep on coming! NeoJamal, now you say Hitler was a "people person"! I have to admit, Hitler had great team management skills, you got me there. Jews? kill 'em. Gypsies? kill 'em. Socialists? kill 'em. Homosexuals? concentration camps and maybe kill em later. Invalids or those with mental illness? kill 'em. Those who protested his policies? concentration camps, or just kill'em. His own generals who tried to talk sense to him including Rommell himself? Fire them or kill 'em. (Rommell got both!) Feeling kind of down about the state of your country? start a world war that takes 60 million lives around the world. And when all was lost and this great "people person", as you say, is counting down his final days in the bunker, blame the German people themselves for losing the war.
But as NeoJamal, Oracle, et al point out; "what an orator!, Poor guy was just misunderstood!"

I get the feeling, Oracle, that your knowledge of Hitler is limited what you have read on internet message boards and Wiki. Take my advice and read a few history books before you start to pontificate. I see people like you coming from a mile away as soon as the inevitable "Hitler was a jerk, but..." spurts out.

Can anyone with even a few years experience in this country honestly be surprised? When faced with crisis, Japanese leaders or those in power have done the same thing time after time after time; freeze in panic.

Once again, as with scientists and the nuclear crisis, the foremost financial minds reside right here on JT. It always amazes me that anonymous internet posters are the lucky few that know exactly how to play the markets.

ridiculous. Unless Aussies were put in charge of safety checks through the years, they have nothing to be ashamed about.
