Despite eyewitness reports, police were unable to establish which of the men was driving the car at the time of the accident, so both were sent home.

    I'm speechless.

kyushujoe - Oh, THATS global warming? I get it now! In winter it's cold, and in summer it's hot! When I was a kid, it must have been the other way around. Time to go buy a Prius, I guess..

this does nothing to disprove the reputation Japanese prison guards have as sadists. Savages..

So sad that comics seem to be the only idea left the Japanese government has to try and connect with the outside world. "Internationalization" has been reduced to clueless Oyajis reaching out to nerds with a lolita complex.

my2centworth - I have no problem with DJs who know they are only that. A DJ sits in a booth and hits play. there is zero artistry or skill involved unlike that of, as you say, a guy strumming a J Johnson tune on an acoustic guitar. At least that guy has actual musical talent. He (or she) has learned to play an actual musical instrument after Im sure hundreds of hours of practice. I DO have a problem, however, with the wannabes who claim to have any musical ability or talent simply because they bought a turntable and managed to push a lever back and forth. That is an insult to those with any musical knowledge whatsoever. I won't get into the vapidness of house, drum and bass, trance, whatever you want to call it cause there isnt enough time in the day. Its all still disco music wrapped in different packaging.

How the dancers respond to your skill determines your skill. If being a DJ were only about "pushing buttons", then you wouldn't have celebrity DJ's charging celebrity-level fees, because ANYBODY could do it successfully.

Fadamor - You might also add how much Ecstasy the dancers have dropped in order to enjoy the pre-programmed crap. The whole club scene (re: Disco) is a soulless, sad charade of people who are afraid of not being "hip". I could go to Tokyo this weekend, and if I was advertised as being from London or New York, would have people like you gushing over how well I pushed play.

I used to make mixed tapes back in the day before a long drive. Does that make me an artist? Sweet!

paulinusa - Jpop songs tend to repeat the refrain ad nauseum bringing a 2 minute song to about 4 and a half. Its enough to want to make you slit your wrists.

benhur - creating music is an art. pressing play on a turntable (and needing Ectasy to enjoy it) is pathetic.

Pretty sad when wannabes go out to buy these instead of spending their money actually learning to play a musical instrument.

The whole thing stinks. The Oyaji - definitely a creep who probably wouldnt have uttered a peep if soreleftarm was Japanese. Soreleftarm - Im assuming you are male (sore left arm; yes, I get it)so why the need to sit in a priority seat at all? Just plain lazy and quite frankly - asking for trouble.

bobbafett - Theres no law that says you can't wear one, but if you really want to go to a party and present yourself as a major a**hole, be prepared for a beatdown. You would certainly deserve one.

chotto - Trance, dance, house, whatever you want to call it; its all Disco for the 2000's. The only people who pretend to like it are club poseurs who need to take a few Ectasy pills to stomach it. Id rather listen to an Oyaji suck his teeth for 2 hrs than that mindless, soulless drivel. Hell, maybe even Jpop..

If people want to waste their time with these mindless shows, thats their decision. But it's amazing that many of the same people will absolutely not believe that these shows are scripted for maximum ratings. It's been going on one way or another since the game shows from the 1950's. The only thing real about them is the money they make.

Below-average looks. I know for a fact she can't sing to save her life, and I doubt she can act to save it either. In any case, mixed-race parents would be crazy not to encourage their kids into show-biz here with this twit as a perfect example of how all you need to be is "Half".

    Frungy - you lost my interest with the following;

Basically anything below your number is bad, but the curve isn't linear (e.g. every hour = +5% risk of depression), but rather geometric (e.g. 1 hour less sleep = +5%, 2 hours less sleep= +20%, 3 hours less sleep = +40%, 4 hours less sleep= +75%....). Hence a person who's ideal sleeping time is 7 hours and is sleeping 6 hours a night would have a minimal risk from sleeping 1 less hour, while someone who's ideal sleeping time is 9 hours and is sleeping 6 hours would be at a geometrically higher risk.

I doubt very much this was the answer to the problems with the girl in Hokkaido

nisegaijin - If you are in the 3% minority who are capable of carrying on a cell call discreetly, then all apologies. If however you are in the majority that cannot, I doubt you would understand. You want proof that it's rude? look the poll results. If 60% of respondents say it's rude, it is.

Frungy - your long-winded post at 2:40 is a reflection of why kids don't get proper help in this country. The powers that be, instead of grappling with the problem head on (i.e swift recognition that the problem exists, swift punishment for the bully, and heart-to-hearts with the victim) try to figure out a sterile, cold scientific solution; (.75% more sleep multiplied by 8.5 hrs = everybodys happy again!) What Japan needs is a sea change in public attitudes towards bullying, depression etc. Even in N.America just a few decades ago, mental illness was seen as something shameful to be hidden away. Proper education changed that in a reetively short time and theres no reason why it can't happen in Japan, too. Silly scientific theories waste time.
