j4p4nFTW - If a girl looks and acts like she's 13, I can be forgiven for thinking shes 15. Either way, it has no bearing on the fact that anyone over the age of 20 who is a fan - has got the IQ of a sock.

Makes perfect sense. If you have no one to record what was done, you escape blame for having done nothing but freeze in panic and indecisiveness.

that must have been the shortest public meeting ever.

Mr.Sushi- couldn't have said it better myself. AKB may not technically be children, but they act and dress like 13 year olds, satisfying the perverts out there who like that sort of thing

I find the obsession with AKB48 to be creepy, yes. But not in a sexual way. Its not the attraction that is creepy. Its the obsession. Its a bit like stalking. And that is what obsessed fans should be called; closet stalkers, not perverts. But of course not all are

familienproblem - So a 50 year-old man with an obsession with 15 year-old girls is not creepy. Gotcha.

but you fail to identify the root of the obsession, which we all know is sexual. There goes your theory.

Japan should just go ahead and re-name the country AKB48. Its the only thing that they seem to be concerned with.

ExportExpert - I now count the French alongside the English, Aussies, Germans, and pretty much any Asian country for which you've professed a hatred for in the last few months. Are there any acceptable nations besides N.Z. that escape your xenophobia?

    Samatha Ueno -

So her husband wanted to flyjin and she said no way? Understandable. Not the first int'l marriage that broke up after 3/11.

If you'd bother to read the story, you'd have seen that the two were living in Los Angeles, California.

Why is it Japanese media feel the need to do the Rugby scrum/pack of wild animals thing? Is it the love of bullying?

The ever-PC mod points out In Hamasaki's defence that she donated money to Tohoku and I believe at some point she also recorded a "message of hope" (whatever that is) to the people of Tohoku. Both could have been done in her living room in LA in 5 minutes flat while holding hubby's hand.

Johannes Weber et al are correct in accusing the airhead of taking advantage of a sick situation for her own PR reasons.

Unfortunately, the problem of radiation prefectly suits the Japanese way of handling crisis. Like an ostrich. If the problem can't be seen, it's not there and can be ignored.

typical bleeding hearts on this forum totally ignoring the very real threat of a nuclear Iran and what that would mean for the rest of the world. I can smell the Birkenstocks and horn-rimmed glasses from here.

These guys are tough. Give them their due.

these guys are idiots. Probably a bunch of shogakko principals who will insist their students run around in shorts and t shirts next week to "toughen them up".

Theyd better get ready for a few months of harsh captivity, Japanese style. But now the Japanese gov't have a PR headache on their hands they don't want.

It is a safe bet that the girl did not advertise on the deai website as 15. And 15-year olds can look pretty adult. It a long way from there to pedophilia. Words have meanings, don´t use them carelessly.

WilliB - Hogwash. The only people who don't realize or even suspect a girl is 15 are the ones who don't want to admit it to themselves. A weak, false excuse.

Preying on the lonely and desperate and at the same time taking advantage of the naive and innocent.

NetNinja - Hilarious! Why is it this lonely, desperate, naive and innocent man couldn't have spent his money on a girl his own age? Ahhhhhh, cause he's a poor, lonely, naive and innocent pedophile!
