So the recent "goodwill gestures" toward the US and South Korea were all just a buttering-up before this announcement, hoping that people wouldn't be too mad at them.
It's about time to give NK what it deserves -- sanctions, blacklisting, anything that can speed the implosion of the wasteland called North Korea.

You must not live here. The whole country is already kooky.
This is the same as Nancy Reagan and her astrologists.... it will all blow over.

I saw this on the Japanese news last night, and the first thing I thought was that they are students from the school where I teach (since it was reported that it was a private school). There are only 4 private schools in Kurumre, so I think this. I will find out on Monday at the teachers' meeting, but I'm just glad that the name of my school hasn't come out in the news (yet). But I can say that we have some bad kids at our school (bosozoku and yakuza). The teachers can only do so much, especially during summer vacation, so please don't direct negative comment toward the school.

What's the use of handing down the punishment of caning if it will be struck down on appeal?
By this woman's NOT appealing the case, Malaysia is being forced to re-evaluate it's legal system. I feel she has done more good for the system by doing nothing at all.

A true legislator. His ability and willingness to work with members of the opposite party made him a legend. He will be sadly missed, not just by the Democratic party, but by all Americans. He has affected more lives in his tenure in the Senate than probably any other political figure. The Americans with Disabilities Act, Voting Rights Act of 1965, Civil Rights Act of 1964, minimum wage increases, No Child Left Behind, and countless other pieces of legislation that affects us all were supported by Sen. Kennedy. Rest in Peace, Teddy.

Lil Kimmie must be running low on cognac.... or just a little "ronery".
Anytime NK makes an about face and starts being nice to SK and the US, you have to wonder what they have up there sleeve.
It wouldn't hurt for the envoys to go, but just don't promise NK anything until they honor the past agreements.

Is this true? I was in Malaysia for the past two weeks, and according to the newspaper, businesses are not legally allowed to serve Muslims. A convenience store in a mostly-Muslim area was raided and all alcohol removed by the police because they served Muslims.

If there was a video of this, it would be classic! Watching the conductor chase the train....
So what are those little yellow boxes with red buttons on the platform for? (emergency kill switches) He could have stopped the train if he really wanted to.

I really dislike the use of the word "manifesto". It makes me think of Karl Marx and the communist manifesto. Why not use a term like "party platform" instead?

Sounds like a bad movie -- Womb Raider.
Some people will do absolutely anything to get a baby -- including this kind of act. It may have been that the woman was infertile and didn't have the money for fertility treatments or other ways of having a child. I want to hear more about the motive for such an inhumane act.

Yeah, the one he filmed on the escalator!!
But seriously, there is always some dumb cop getting caught for doing something. No wonder the police can't be taken seriously.

Sadly, I think everyone knows the outcome of this. Since the date of the verdict was announced on the last day of the trial (and possibly before the final arguments by Suu Kyi's lawyers), she will probably be found guilty and sentenced to another 5-10 years of house arrest.
I know some contributors on here will start talking about human rights, etc., but this is just how the junta works.

Michael Jackson had problems, but the doctor should be to blame in this death. Any reputable doctor would have refused to give propofol as a sleep aid. This drug is not to be used outside of a hospital, and with an EKG machine to monitor the patient's heart rate. Since there was no EKG machine in Jackson's home, and the doctor is thought to have fallen asleep while Jackson was under the influence of this drug, it is definitely malpractice, if not manslaughter.
