The quality level of NUMMI is quite low compared to their plants in Indiana and Kentucky. I used make headlights for Toyota, and NUMMI would accept almost anything. It was all about the numbers of Tacomas and Corollas they were making.

But Arthur Frommer, founder of the Frommer’s travel guides, said travelers should rely on the advice of experts, such as guidebook writers or journalists.

Of course he would say this!! If he doesn't sell books, he doesn't make money.

I regularly look at Trip Advisor and Virtual Tourist when deciding on a hotel overseas. Until now, I've really had no problems. On the other hand, I went to a place in the Lonely Planet that was absolutely horrible.

On the list appeared two members of Aso’s Cabinet—Finance Minister Kaoru Yosano as well as Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Minister Shigeru Ishiba.

You know you're in trouble when your hand-picked cabinet turns on you. Does he not get the message, or is he too busy wining and dining at night to watch the news?

I feel better now that I've had my daily swine flu story.

This is totally out of hand. Is there any evidence that it's mutating into something really bad? They should not try to scare the public with the "worst-case scenario" talk.

If it was that embarrassing, they should have conducted the wedding in Japan. Did they not know that people in America (Hawaii included) speak English? Moshi-moshi!?

In a country as small as Japan, it can't take much to make the 'top 100 historic roads' list.

Being the middle of the night, I didn't watch it, but from the reports, it was done in a very classy manner. I may not have agreed with some of the decisions that Michael made during his life, but I hope that he is able to rest in peace.

I just checked their website -- there's one less than 10 minutes from my house (by car)! Gotta get over there!

but how did the media know about this incident? They must have complained to someone other than the manager. It may have been a 'get even' tactic on the part of the tourists. If you look hard enough, you can find something bad enough to shut down any restaurant.

If there were no prices on the menu, they should have left the restaurant before ordering. This is rule No. 1 when traveling abroad -- always know the price of something before you order it.

If a foreign tourist went to a hostess club in Tokyo or elsewhere and was presented with a bill for that amount, would the authorities do anything about it? I think not.

The more they shoot, the fewer they have in their arsenal. They can shoot them all into the Pacific and/or Sea of Japan for all I care.

likeitis - After the last terror attack, Americans lost many freedoms. It's called the Patriot Act. Civil liberties were trampled on by the authors (republicans) of the legislation. Another attack on American soil would obviously be followed by calls for more restrictions of personal freedom by the far right in Congress.

He’s the George Bush that George Bush pretended to be — the compassionate conservative, the `uniter not the divider

No, he was more like the George Bush who shot first and asked questions later. Kirk was always saying, 'set your phasers to kill'.

They could try lowering prices to fill the planes. It seems they could make a profit on volume rather than expensive fares.
