pretty for sure. Like der?? Was something new stated here. I dont think so. But who would have the balls to flip the talk to human rights in China-certainly not Julia Gillard.(And I might add, youd think Wong would, but she lost her identity ages ago) In fact, I d bet this talk hides her growing concern about the human rights state of affairs within Australia FOR Australians.

I take offense at the home, pregnant and barefoot comment-what the hell has that got to do with the price of eggs. Catch a flamin' train like most Japanese women!! And anglootaku thinks she knows it all with a comment about human rights and education. Youve no idea. Seriously.

Maybe the Jews are teaching about faith-I mean it is more than likely that they could be questioning of exactly how much the US stands for God, despite that was how the country supposedly started. And the Muslims, despite their lack of prophesy, at least believe strongly in God. It would be a bit of a toss of a coin to work out exactly who, or rather which country God has put his faith. So maybe the continuation of 'business as usual'-and getting construction done for the people-whether they be Jews, Muslim or American-is a lesson in faith. Mind I wouldnt want to be sitting over there now, but I guess some people are made for it! Certainly is interesting times.

Im so tired of reading this talk, I cant be bothered reading all the comments and can barely make it through the article. It is just so boring!!! Everybody is so individual. Add to that the suggestion that gender is equal, and there is all sort of conflict with defining what that alone means!!! One thing I would say is that the article reads like a homosexual take on gender and even some of the comments seem to deem the standards set fair. There is such a hangup on image and vanity seems to be the underlying standard. While I can appreciate that we all, men and women, like to make the most of ourselves, this whole image just is abunch of homosexual fannys versus speed injecting bonezez that it doesnt even deserve any comment except to highlight that fact. So go and hoot your horn, get into the Im not vain just conscious of health vibe that is being prescribed to you like valium, and one day you may just wake up from it all......then again you may not.

yes I agree; it is now. The distance can be felt, and the time to build on those ties is now. America will benefit from the communications that happen in that area, instead of a undermining effect, which you can start to see already. Australia will benefit from being bought closer to world conscience-there is a lot more going on in various avenues of major players in society-I mentioned construction, but also medicine-in Australia that is already at a dangerous level of politics. It would be wise to hurry this move along-and in fact, you could thank China for beng a little bit bully-like, in order for this connection to be strengthened in an orderly manner, and without seeming aggressive.

“our great nationa stands ready to join hands with other nations to march on this beautiful path.”

Oh good, then he would be willing to take the asylum seekers that head to Australia, because Iran is so much closer for them to get to. And Australian politics just keep giving them poor people the run around from what I hear. Maybe if the US and and co hadda stuck around he would have got to that point?? His words sure seem compelling, and what country can stand and point fingers at another that they are any better. The US and co for example might stop pulling the empathy card and let Iran deal with their neighbouring countries, while they clean up their own backyard. I mean it doesnt seem nice for President Ahmadinejad to be saying these things about America, but it would seem that talking with neighbouring countries for all is a possibility, eh?? The UN is a long way from being what it calls itself, but who is in a hurry? Any reason for a hurry? Chill out and have something to eat; a little time to think and settle, the only people really hurrying is the asylum seekers, and maybe Iran would be willing to help them out if they werent so hurrying; hurrying to the podium, hurrying US out the door........

Yey, Go the US. Go Down Under, and enlighten the propaganda that is settling in there while youre at it. Tax them Aussies too; the good lord knows that the ones that would pay the most would be mostly foreigners anyhow. Time they paid their share of freedom. And if China has too many people, Australia has a tonne of land to share. The Chinese and their pay-pocket, it would seem, is more welcome than the unpaying type of people that are running from some oppression-the good lord knows who they might be comparing with??-and expect if they use all their monies to get to Australia their is the taxes to cover them being set-up there.....So China flooding Australia is not a problem; it's been done before, for all those countries who would say China has too many people and they overtake your land. Of course while we all do the right thing here, we can ignore the gender issues that play into construction hands, might as well ignore a pack of liars, who want you to believe that land is scarce, and materials limited. The good lord knows theyve manipulated the net so that you cant see that info for yourself; so lets just focus on the numbers then. In the meantime the US will keep the language balanced in that area down under, where all sorts of words of banal influence grow to portions of such dryness that only the Australian dessert can handle :)

You know what, everything makes sense when you point at China being the bully-it is kinda obvious. But as soon as you start to compare political ideals between Japan and China, or Phillipines, or India or even the US, everything starts to turn grey. Why? Because all you who have knowledge on the political background are allowing your personal idealogies on population and the one-child policy to have bearing on who or which country is 'correct'. You dont see it that way, and you lay it all on the different countries failures/leanings/movements. But I tell ya, I can read what y'all are saying, or more, not saying. And it is blinding you to make a proper decisive move about China's bullying. The Chinese themeselves understand that the one-child policy, is not normal of China's spirit. So I am not attacking China, but they will keep plugging the economical route on y'all, until you quit deceiving yourself. And you who deceive yourself with population issues, or whatever personal agenda, that pulls at your heart to not see the truth about population and it's pack of lies are having the wool pulled over your eyes. Id be willing to read more on China and the South Sea, if any one of you would go and study properly population trends and propaganda.

yeah thanks zichi-lucabrasi get off the pedantic high. I know what I said, and I do realize that city is nominated by political avenues rather than size, which is why I mentioned the English language with a little e, cause Down Under, if ya be asking me, it isnt actually English but Australian that is spoken......and so on. Too many damn English teachers here in Japan who think their version is correct. Thank you for highlighting this. But thank you Zichi for recognizing that what I wrote was for an emotional appeal to the numbers and size and grief that must have swept through that area, that is quickly forgotten or not even realized at times; and as I stated this article seemed rather a personal viewpoint....need I add?...... in english......

A personal glimpse if ever there was one; I wish that the word town would not be used for Ishinomaki. Where I come from and where english is still used as far as I know, this size of place would definitely be referred to as a city.

This story stuck in my head today at a meeting for Ishinomaki. I wonder that the family didnt even have the hope of God, and that perhaps the father felt there was no way he could see his way through with 2 little ones and a pregnant wife......To think of this makes me angry at the people talking about fire alarms, but more, I cant stop crying. I was staying away from Ishinomaki because even though I have a lot less than most as far as economics are concerned I feel truely blessed concerning my family, and I felt that that was something I didnt want to boast about. Im now waiting to hear from my husband and the good Lord to answer my prayers if that's where he wants me to go this weekend........Please give the people of the tsunami devasted area hope.

what are you on about yabits-punishment is not good?

Ive been thinking-America, the Christian country, can even stand up with a Muslim leaning leader, I guess it's only reasonable and fair that they take on a Mormon based leader. The hidden theology surrounding that interests me more than the Muslim/Christian history.

I could be reading everybodies english wrong; but between my last comment and this one, all that seems to be said is-increasing population and declining population. Make up your minds! Which is it? Suicide or life. And forget the babble about urban and country; or facilities or not; or govt control or not-youre not making any sense. Youre just tossing hypotheticals out as if they are true. Once again I pose the question-suicide or life?

Disciplining is better than years down the track wishing you had of. I hate this sort of question. It seems suggestive that parents are stressed and therefore abuse. I say what does abuse mean? In fact what is stress?? Abuse if your kids stress you, it is your responsibility. I wouldnt trust anybody else to do it to my kids-hell they might be having a stressful day. But if you put the meaning of abuse into the level of news like criteria, then maybe the word discilpine is preferrable to abuse. Either way this question can play havoc to the sensitive parent Id guess. And for the police minded type, they love to drive it home how wonderful they are when this sort of question arises. Most parents know when theyve gone too far, and are repenting in nature. But the ones that put standards to how to parent are worse than the ones who go too far, because they are judge-mental.

Posted in: What advice would you give to stressed-out parents of young children so that they don’t resort to abusing their children as a means of discipline?

The women being higher, wouldnt have anything to do with the one child policy. Do you think?

And actually this is the one point where I would start pointing fingers at Japan and their attitude about how they think they have better ideals for raising children. Like the many cases of child abduction, the history also points to a certain Japanese authoritarian style of parenting within China when there was a lot more Japanese in China and relations were on the better side of things-before warring times(cant exactly remember dates off the top of my head now). Before China had a one child policy anyhow. To me it seems there was a drive for perfection and between the 2 countries one thing led to another in competition like standards of education and it is where it is today. Japan HAS to back down on this attitude. I personally see it everywhere in Japan-in whichever religion, in whatever economic status-and news regarding the child abductions only highlights it more for me. China has to take a step regarding their one child policy-for their women; look at them suicide rates. How sad. But in the region, Japan has to stop the authoritarian, police-like minded standards of parenting. It doesnt help when a lot of the influential western foreigners in Japan are the same, I might add. Things as simple as seatbelts highlight it for you? They do for me.

There is a lot that can be shared, but as it is such a sensitive topic, well it would seem that suicide is preferrable to talking about it at times. How very very sad. This region has the potential to stimulate markets, not just because of their genius, but through their giving to the world in population and market demand; it is a shame both countries cant realize this.

The biggest thing that a mormon can bring to the discussion on China which hasnt been done so much before is their one child policy. Now that would involve some slapping!
