HOW?!?!? HOW in the world can you compare banning guns, to banning drugs and alcohol. You can make alcohol with 10$ and some corn!!!! you can grow weed for 0$. Dude! do you think you can go into your kitchen and make semi atuo Glock?!?! sure there will be guns. But less new ones if the gun makers cant make and sell them anymore. It works just fine in countries where guns are banned. They are about as rare as whale meat in Australia.

I love guns. Absolutely love them. I am also 100% AGAINST gun ownership. guns in movies and games. great. Guns in the hands of cops and soldiers. great. Airsoft guns, toy guns. great. Real guns. What is the point? The point is to kill someone, hurt someone, kill your self, or accidentally hurt somebody (which is the majority of gun victims). So I ask you. Whats the point? Is the big bang you hear and feel really worth the chance of someone getting hurt or killed. Think it wont happen to you, that's what EVERYONE who ever got shot thought. and your just selfish. MAYBE, just maybe you can own a gun. Use is responsibility, and no one EVER gets hurt with your gun. Thats great and fine with me. But it supports gun makers, and gun laws for idiots and criminals to get guns easier. Sure you can get guns in Japan, but they are rare. I was barely 22 in the USA in College when I saw with my own two eyes an illegal drug money bought .35 revolver. Do you think that if YOU didn't legally own guns, and we didn't have gun ownership laws. do you think that gun would be on the street anyway?!? no it wouldn't. it would have never been made. There has to be a point in human evolution where we move past killing and hurting each other.

wow. no arguments about how global warming is not real. soon enough they will start. Just like the record sized ice burg headed for Australia that just happened to break off for reasons having nothing to do with global warning. and yes before you get into it with me. I am not talking about man-made global warming, but global warming in general. you know the kind that people still deny exist. Just like the same type of people who believe in creationism.

@HonestDictator: If someone takes over your country. you have to defend it. Thats seems a little naive and absolute. You don't have too. no not at all. What if the new ruling country is better. If Canada took over the USA I don't think I would put my life on the line to fight to get the USA back. It would just be a big Canada. so what? And you basically are taking the side of the Taliban and all the rebels in Iraq. The Taliban just see them selves as freedom fighters, and your statement basically says they are 100% ok in what they are doing.

@GW why are you telling me? and by the way the GREEN CROSS is generic sign for all medical care in Japan. There very well may be a GREEN CROSS organization or company, but every doctor, hospital, and first aid anything I have seen has a green cross on it. I still don't know why you directed you statement at me. @taka: thats a good one. I am surprised no one has suggested that one yet. That is similar to coke, in the way that you can find that in any corner of the world. Kids in African villages and poor Chinese town still wear shoes, and they probably own, or want to own some nike kicks. I can see them now. sitting on a rock, with a coke in there hand wearing their Micheal Jordon dunk shirt, eating a Cheeseburger from McDonald, dreaming about santa bringing them a pair wrapped in Micky Mouse wrapping paper. (@seijichuudo9sha: sorry no che in this fantasy, because why would people in China know a thing about che, do people in South America know about Mao??!?!?!?!?!)

It wasnt a bad movie by any measure. But... I am a huge Michel Mann fan. I acutely liked Miami Vice a little better, and not many people liked that movie. Lets face it. HEAT and Collateral where his most amazing movies. The Insider and Ali were great too. but they don't feel like Mann movies.

I have never seen a cameron film that wasn't amazing. Ok titanic wasnt up my ally, but I saw it. It was a good movie. and even love the Abyss. esp the 3 hour directors cut. They say this is most expensive movie ever made... its not going to be bad. you guys are calling it a love story, etc. Human move to a planet and murder the aliens living there. its suppose to be a pretty violent and gruesome movie.

@seijichuudo9sha: you have to tottaly joking!!!! do you really live in such a small box. We are talking about all over the world. How many of the people in india and china do you think have seen those movies you are talking about or give $hit about some south american revolutionary. that 2 billion pepople right there that have no idea who you are talking about. what about all the people in the afifac. Do you realize that 40% of the world doesn't have access to an indoor toiltet, you think they have TV's or a movie theater in their village/city\town. NO!!!! but they all drink coke at some point in there life. And YES Obama is one of the most FAMOUS people in the world. but come on bud... not everyone knows his face. To most people he is probably just another African america. Or to many, they might think he is just another African. It has to be unmistakable. Remember the michal jordon swosh symbol. Thats unmistakable. Kids in poor African villages knew that symbol. more kindergarten kids knew that symbol than could pick out a picture of Jesus Christ. To them Christ just looked like another white dude. The Jordon thing was about the shape, the basketball in his hand, the dunking motion. Obama is just obama. The che thing is a little more like a true symbol and I agree with you, its popular, but in the WEST!!!! please do yourself a favor and step out of you little west only box, and you i have the internet, and movies, and tv, so does everyone else. You have to understand that the majority of the people on this planet live in poverty. which means they dont have the luxery to care about che, or what America is doing, or what obama looks like, or the Grammy. but coke is cheap. and its in every single country on the planet.

at MARK: that's just it. you saying what if you shorten one of the arches. It would still be the golden arches. But if i was the letter 'm' in any of the million of of other fonts out there, people would say. Thats the letter M. Its has to be distinive differnt. There are trillions of moons that look just like ours. I just saw some pictures of Saturn moon that Cassini just took this month. From a distant they look EXACTLY like our moon. you are proving my point. If I took this picture of Saturn moon to people ALL over the world, how many would guess EARTHs moon. ALL of them 99.9999991% of them would. So an actual picture of our moon is not unmistakable what so ever. I dont think this has anything to do with standards. I think half the argument on this post are yet again because of bad English. I think they should use the word symbol instead of image. of all the examples in the poll, they are more of a symbol than an image. When people say, smiley face, and red cross, and swastika, and Manchester utd. those are example of symbols, not so much images.

about the swastika. We were both right and wrong. at least according to wiki. It is in fact part of many many religions. the double cross of Christ. found in Hindu culture, and Buddhism. Chinese, american Indian. the list goes on. so Hitler didn't take it from Buddhism. He took the famous symbol from all over the world because of what it represented. power and life. and why do you have to bash ignorant Americans. your telling me a Brit never came to japan and got upset. I guess they are too prefect. they did invent Santa after all. who am I to disagree? I am an ignorant american after all.

im not a coke fan boy. I never drink the stuff. I would be perfectly happy if another drop of coke was ever made or drank. no one including myself is debating that Santa was a Victorian creation. What I am talking about is the modern version of santa that we all see. the fat, jolly guy, wearing red. None of those images existed until coke got their hands on him. thats all i am trying to say. I am not trying to take away your santa. its like saying the japaneses took away TVs and Cars just because they make them better!!!!

@smithinjapan: uhhh..... no duh. I have been leaving here for some time. I didn't think the Japanese were still Nazi supporters. My point was that the "swastika" has existed in other cultures like japan in a slightly different form (like backwards), but still recognizable. AND the Nazi swastika has its origins as a christian symbol for many hundreds of years. That`s what I was referring too.

people are saying a picture of the moon or earth. But what If I showed you a picture of a jupiter moon, how many poeple would be able to tell it wasnt our moon. what about a CGI planet from sci-fi film or show. I think for the image or picture to be the most recognizable, it has to be UNMISTAKABLE. and people are saying stuff like the sun. there are billions of stars out there. it could be any of them right? A tree is pretty good, but i think the poll means more of symbols, not images or pictures, through out time we have drawn trees countless different ways. your just too hard. I could say. what about a face. well... everyone has seen a face. I could say, water. well everyone has had water before.

I have a bunch for ya. the oldest. Older than our nazi friends. the SWASTIKA. and come on.... what about MICROSOFT. how many people out there have computers. not just now, but for the past 30 years. Microsoft is on every computer in the world that had computers. More people use computers than drink coke, or eat at McDonald's. Here is another one. Mercedes. The drive Mercedes in every inch and corner of this world. from old trucks used by African gorilla solders, to dumb trucks in China, to Limos for politicians in South America. Either way. I think this poll is lacking some very very famous and well known symbols. This is just three which I think are far more popular than any listed except maybe coke and golden arches. and people are listing all sorts of different idea. red cross for one is a great one. Smiley face. not so much. and che... I don't think so. I doubt a single person in Asia has any idea who Che is. and that is almost half the worlds population. and besides when I was younger I thought he was the Rage agiasnt the machine guy. I didn't even know his name or anything. My point being is, that even if people recognize the face\symbol, but don`t really know what it is or means, then it doesn't count. my students dont know what a candy cane is. even if I show them a picture. Thats crazy to me, its very distinct in its shape and color. Not a soul in Europe of north America doesn't know what a candy cane is. I think you would be surprised what some parts of the world do and do not recognize. you guys have to step out of your western boxes.

and i didn't get MY info from the internet. I got it directly FROM coke at the Official coke museum in Atlanta. Why would they lie about it. and unless you are 60 years or older and actully saw these santa transformation happen, then please site your references as to when, how, and why do you think England created the modern santa. until coke came about, the red, fat thing wasn't even part of santa. he was just a skinny dude with a white beard wearing whatever. How does England have anything to do it. and you know what.

@fancyprice. why would you assume Jesus Christ is so famous in the world. the majority of the world is Muslin. the next majority, is still not christian. Mickey mouse has no boundaries. and the smiley face has only been around since the 60
s. late 60s actully is when it was trademarked. Thats pretty new compared to a lot of these other signs.and no one has brought up the SWASTIKA? come on!!!! and I dont mean just the nazi swastika. The nazis sure helped ram into our minds, but its been around a very very long time. In one form or another the swastika has been around for a couple thousand years. A backwards swastika is the symbol for temple!

I have never seen the red cross in japan! I have only seen the green cross. and thats not even a company, just their sign for first aid or hospital. Santa clause doesn't count either. Coco Cola invited santa cluase. (if you dont believe me go the coco cola museum in Atlanta. They needed something to sell their coke better around Christmas, so they come up with what we now know as Santa. Before that, he was just a a person with a white beard that did some nice things a long time ago.
i really dont think its coke though. I dont drink coke, a lot of people dont either, so i dont see the can or bottle that much. and how often do they even use the origanl logo. They all these other logos they use. and just the COKE doesnt count, it has to be the fancy cursive version. But Micky D. I dont care if you eat it or not, you have to stare at those golden archers no matter where you drive any where in the world.

I like the RX-8 and all. and I am not saying its slow, and i am not a fan of the corvette really, but it would TOTTALY smoke your rx-8. and i cross the road when ever i want. I think its totally annoying that there is no cars coming and you can see for miles in both directions, and some one just sits there waiting for the walk sign to light up. I get it, in downtown osaka, or Tokyo or whatever, you pretty much have to wait for the light. but in my small country town, it doesn't matter. They do it 100% out of pricicable, but they approach the situation like a computer, and its just isnt in their program to cross the street unless they see a green walk sign. their minds would explode. BUT if they come to a cross walk with no walk sign, then they cross when ever they want.
