Its amazing how the people who seem even somewhat openminded and intelligent are writting quite detailed and long entries, while the close minded and always bashing Japan just have nice little quips. see above, he bascily pointed them all out.

@cleo. if you actually understood anything about Japan instead of being negative and bashful, they are doing something called saving face. not lying.

I am not pro or against drugs, I am for the freedom to make your own choices. Thank you Obama for at least stopping these waste of time and money federal raids. I think its a great idea to let the states decide something like this. There are several counties in the USA that are DRY counties and they choose it that way. I think that's how weed should work. Its obvious we have states that are more liberal and less liberal. So not all state laws should be the same fore everywhere. As for Japan... well. Not to many people really care. but their are legal alternatives out there that some how have gone under the radar. Spice is one that I have actually seen in stores In Tokyo and Osaka.

come on. The only reason they say research is so they can legally get away with it and avoid a full on international battle. Don't be so dense. Do you know anything about Japanese people. They want to keep their culture intact such as things like eating whale, and they want to avoid an outright confrontation. If they said we are just eating this stuff, then places like Australia would never ever let it down. And they have to do some half-a$$ research because then people would call them lairs. Do you people even like or respect japan at all? stop trying to bash them for EVERYTHING. and try some whale. its take great. cheers to the people who have tried whale, an ingrained part of Japanese culture, and to those that can make a comment that is annoyling shallow and negative against japan.

@mnemosyne23: hello buddy. they are going to Drive around ANYWAY!!!! wasting gas. what are you talking about. do police ONLY drive their car when they chasing someone? thats why they are called PARTOL CARS!!!! they patrol. this 'chase' didnt cost a dime more than it would any other day. and besides It gave these guys a chance to actually work together in a controlled effort. And like most people said, its probably just a search pattern. I doubt 100 guys just jump into a car and go. they were probably already out PATROLLING and they got a call to look for the suspects. I mean really come on people. WE are all aware of the sub-par writing on this sight. the half information, and bad translation. Have you never seen a cop moive or show. What are they doing, they are patrolling around the city. They dont do it as much in japan, but they still do it! and what happens when a crime is reported. Some one goes on this device called a radio and sends a message out. All the cops in the city get the message, the ones who are close or are needed join the search. Why do you people look for things to hate about japan.

@dbung10: yeah for sure. how many times have we read about these drivers just running away. what was the one a few months ago? with the 2 year old. He said he didn't even know he hit anything. I notice when a fly hit my car.
I wasn't there, so I cant place blame. but I have almost hit people and cars and bikes about............ 1 trillion billion times. Everyday! every sec I am in the Car. Just down the street to Family Mart, I only have 10 cars, four grannies, and about 3000 students to dodge, who are all in the middle of the road. I have been tempted to drive on the sidewalk since no one uses those. Driving in Japan is crazy. Bikes everywhere, old grannies crossing anywhere. Down on main street in my city, people just stop where ever, put their emergency errrrr i mean 'park anywhere you want' lights, and just open their door into traffic with out looking.
this guy is a professional driver, so he is good enough to not to be a 'negligent driver' He is in a car like 10 hours a day. about 10000000 times more than all of us combined. the chances of him hitting someone in japan in his lifetime are about 1 out 1.

the reason body builders do that to their skin is basically a runaway bad habit. Body builders used to just look normal, back in Arnolds days. Normal enough anyway. Back then, esp in arnolds circle they would work out at Golds Gym on Venice beach. After a work out, they would chill on the beach all day. Many many famous body builders were classic beach bums, and had a very natural tan. Well fast forward a little bit and like most things in life, body builders became increasingly... lets say helped along. dying their hair, fake tans, streriods, etc. None of which i have a problem with, but somewhere its just never stopped, and if a little tan helps. why not a lot more. If you look at all the world champions through the years, you will notice, two things. 1. their tan gets darker and darker, 2. there are more black champions from around the globe. For what ever reason judges started favoring darker skin either fake or natural. Maybe you can see the muscles better, I am not sure. So body building is mainly a western sport, at least that's where it got famous, so that is why the Japanese emulate the western style of becoming very big carrots.

what is an unhealthy supplement? crack? don't think that helps. if you are referring to what I think you are, they are legal in japan, and still rather unpopular from what i hear. and what most people don't know, is they are actually very safe if used correctly with the right combination of drugs and esp with the aid of a trained doctor. and no I don't use them. don't care enough and way to expensive.

I think that is awesome. yeah a little over kill. But come on!!! you people rag on the cops left and right. all the F'n time. The reason these cops overreact for this, or mess that up is because they have no practice. There are hardly any crimes going on. How good would a doctor be if he never had an patients to hone his skills on? These cops finally got out of their koban and got some real world practice. They probably drove their cars over 40km and hour. that's a 1st. And how often do you think they get to organize that many officers at one time. If something serious did happen, and you are in the middle of it and need help. I bet you would be glad they come, and with some practice under their belts. Its amazing how everyone on this site just wants to bash japan for everything!!!! yeah they have a lot of wierd or stupid or funny things about them. But the average nihonjin wouldn't make fun of you for every single thing you do.

I am really glad I heard about this article. My j-girlfriend and I sometimes argue about the fact that I don't want kids. After I heard about this, and I told her that I just found out if we had kids and got divorced (assuming we get married in the future) she would get my kids. She basically nodded her head, agreed that i was right and doesn't want kids anymore. you i have also found out, and this article is a good example. is it seems the only people who have kids, are the ones thats probably shouldnt. and visa versa. but i guess some one has too.

not every fall is a suicide... hello. kids will be kids. I probably should have and could have died about 10 tens when I was a kid, thinking of all the things I did. Jumping gaps that had i missed would have killed me, climbed heights that looked safe but were not. I also played on the roof of my local high school when I was a little kid.
i 2nd that.

'the age of consent' is very blurred in Japan. I am told it varies from prefecture to prefecture, and in some places in Japan its as low as 13. Even still, I am told it is rarely enforced. Not like statutory rape in the USA which is totally ridiculous 50% of the time. I understand its to protect 50 year olds from taking advantage of 16 year old. that's good. But I have heard of countless stories where a 17 year old boy got his 16 year old girlfriend pregnant. He was arrested for rape, and the judge ordered a restraining order, so that he could never see his baby ever again because he was now a sex offender. that's just plain stupid. But I have to say I choose Americans system over japan. where 12 year 'models' are almost the norm in places like Akiba.
