He's clutch. He doesn't take a practice swing before the real one, and he's honed his swing since at least 17-18, probably before. I remember watching him in his rookie year with the Giants. The annoucners fawned over him to a degree that made me sick, but the guy never bought into it, and kept his cool for his beloved swing. This MVP is the result. Though I think he's a boring interview and we all know about his looks, great going GODZILLA, you really have shown your talent to blossom!

What a catch that Miki Ando. And at the perfect age! Mazultov to Morozov, nice work if you can get it. All the xxx about Japanese clickishness, hello? Ever ride a train recently. I think you could start screaming in Japanese about their clickishness or bad manners and people would hardly bat an eye. Its a culture that has different ways of handling pressure, and speaking about it certainly isn't a forte....at least in public.

Yes it may all be true. But he's in the Guiness Book of Records for most appearances on a show run consecutively and there must be some reason he was tolerated for all those years.....isn't there? I don't watch TV so I don't know about him in particular but...

I agree with most of the posts and fight like the dickens daily to keep my sanity in the midst of really cold, rude, "don't even bother me with your complaint" about my behavior, but one example of Japanese manners is expressing thanks when you offer them a simple condolence or apology. Offering apologies are still a beautiful part of Japanese manners, and it happens over and over again. Of course not on the rush hour trains.

Oh, definitely. Especially the "women only" trains. And they should allow men to ride those trains too, but only during the night time.

Should have been the first, second, third and final priority of his term in office. Anyone who rides the trains (perhaps he doesn't) knows, sees, hears and smells the discontent of this nations people without a doubt LARGELY DUE to having no friggen income and no hope of finding any means of getting it in the foreseeable future. Just a step away from being destitute. Poverty level at 15% is drastic understatement from what I see-feel-on the trains during rush hour these days....push, push, shove, shove, hit, hit.

What a dumb question. Narita was built after a war with the native farmers over the land. That is a historical fact (check it out, its just 40 years old or less). Now that they've destroyed those farmers lives and lands do you think they're going to go back toallowing Haneda to be the main hub? Think again.

Its not just shinjuku where the C-people are robbing the J-people. My J-friend lives in a nice suburb with rich houses about an hour from Shibuya, and 2 years ago his house was robbed clean, wife's jewels all gone. Police said it was a C-network who had pulled, are you ready.....500 such heists within the area in the past year. And now the gov't is extending trouism to include entry without visas? Maybe someone better speak up soon or forever hold your jewels.

With the stabbed driver still inside? No mention about the stabbed drivers condition or the location of the stabbing. Nikko to Utsunomiya is how far? More than an hour I think. Surely they must have said something to each other? How about the bleeding. Profuse bleeding? What an insane story. Japanese doing this to other Japanese in clear daylight, in taxi's. My Lord what is this country doing to itself. 15% poverty line......The 39-year old must have been out of work, but still. Come ON JAPAN!

No, they answer 110 and everytime, I believe. That's why they know the number of calls. Just be prepared to give your name and address or they won't proceed to do anything. But they will respond to your request if you comply with theirs.

Yelnats, I don't understand why you couldn't get their number? Most families have their names written on a post by their house with the address too. Then you just call 104 and ask for the name and give them the address and they'll tell you, unless its unlisted. In my case the whole family was wacky, and they never walked the dog, which is why it barked its fool head off day and night. Of course, nobody in the neighborhood would support me, but in my case it wasn't just an ornary dog. It was an over-the-limit- 180 barks per minute type of harrassment that would be tolerated anywhere else. When I asked the neighbors about it, they just said, "oh, that dog barks", or "that dog will die before we do", or some such nonsense. Finally I called the hokenjo (ward office for animals) and they sent a representative to the house. The hokenjo person totally agreed that this behavior was not acceptable and that it qualified as neighborhood disturbance (kinjo meiwaku). But in the end, nothing but my phone calls, to this day 5 years on and running bring any measure of quiet. At least now they know who's calling. And they stop the dog barking without answering the phone. When the dog stops barking, I allow the phone to stop ringing. Sheeeese....

I called 110 once to complain about an incessantly noisy barking dog, but when they asked for my name and number before they'd take action, I decided to go it alone, said thank you and good-bye. Then I started calling the noisy barking dog owners house directly (Number given by 104) to complain about it. Everytime the dog is barking for over 3 minutes, their phone starts ringing. It took 2-3 years of keeping at it, but finally its become a liveable situation. Nothing happens in a day here. Almost nothing. You have to be persistant to get peace of mind here. This guys case is a horse of a different color. But 110 does have a useful purpose.

Come on give the poor officer a break. He was just borrowing the underwear so he can sew them together for his ghost costume for Halloween. I'm sure he intended to return them all, until he panicked and disposed of them for fear of being caught.
